The Creatures That We Are
Chapter 1297: End

Chapter 1297: End

Nana’s eyes widened fractionally with a wonder for the unknown and an anticipation for the unprecedented. Gao Yang reached into his left chest with his right hand, pulling the Miracle Rune Circuit out—it had turned into a beating golden heart.

The other eleven Rune Circuits appeared right before him, spinning around the golden heart and transforming into components to form a golden ring. That was the answer derived from the formula with the Miracle Rune Circuit as the core: the Ring of Miracle.

Gao Yang spread his arms to reveal his hollowed chest. Responding to his summons, the Ring of Miracle dove into the cavity to fill his heart, becoming the core gear of his body. It was the most important gear to fate.

The ring rotated.

The young man’s black hair floated, his now golden eyes glowing. Parting his blood-stained lips, he said, “This is the final fight, everyone!”

“Yeah.”

“Roger that!”

“Cool.”

“Let’s go!”

“Fight!”

“Let’s do this!”

They had been waiting for this moment.

Gao Yang clapped and used the wish-amplified version of Three Heads Six Arms. In an instant, his fourteen companions turned into fourteen energy streams in different colors, entering his body and exploding into vast nebulae and dust, creating the Pillar of Creation in the cosmos.

A grand, beautiful, and dreamlike giant of nubulae emerged from the pillar. They spread their limbs and became infinitely large, threatening to break through the constraints of the universe. In their heart was an infinitely small being—an androgynous human combining maximum yin and yang and the amalgamation of fifteen powerful physiques and souls.

God’s lamb, human’s Gao Yang[1].

Gao Yang walked up to the Ultimate.

The giant of nebulae propped up the universe. With every step Gao Yang took, the giant was subject to tremendous pushing and pulling forces, tearing their body apart. It expanded outward while collapsing inward, as if the Big Bang and the Big Crunch were taking place at the same time.

After taking nine steps, Gao Yang was right before the Ultimate, looking at it at eye level.

Clank.

The Ultimate continued to turn, moving all the gears in the Workshop of Truth. It was the heart of the universe and the pulse of everything. They could not be comprehended, described, changed, reached, challenged, or defied.

“This is futile, Gao Yang,” Nana said.

He ignored her and extended his right hand to the Ultimate.

Clank.

His right hand was torn into tens of thousands of broken strands of light by the absolute will.

The giant of nebulae groaned profoundly, lowering their head.

...

“This won’t work, Gao Yang,” Nana said.

Gao Yang extended his left hand to the Ultimate.

Clank.

His left hand was disintegrated into countless energy particles by the supreme force of natural law.

The giant of nebular let out a heart-wrenching growl, bending their back.

...

“Stop, Gao Yang,” Nana said.

Now missing both arms, Gao Yang pressed his chest to the Ultimate.

Clank.

The sovereign will dissolved his body, and fourteen souls flew away like a firework that lost control.

The giant cried out in pain, dropping to one knee.

...

“You’re killing yourself, Gao Yang,” Nana said.

The Ring of Miracle alone held Gao Yang’s disintegrating body in a rough shape. His head, the only intact part of him, slammed into the Ultimate.

Clank.

Gao Yang vanished.

“...”

The giant collapsed. All was silent once more.

Clank.

The Ultimate continued to turn.

They could not be comprehended, described, changed, reached, challenged, or defied.

Clank.

...

...

[Game Over]

The screen in the home theater dimmed. The annoying notification popped up once more.

“Shit! What kind of trash game is this?!” Wang Zikai raged on the sofa, picking up his can of beer and having a gulp. “Again!”

Gao Yang lowered the controller and shook his head. “Let’s stop here for today.”

Wang Zikai despaired, “Don’t give up, bro! One last time!”

He said resignedly. “You’ve said that many times.”

“We’re gonna succeed this time! Trust me!”

“Let’s not,” Gao Yang said, having made up his mind. “I’m going home to sleep.”

“Fine... Don’t go, though. Just stay at my place...” Wang Zikai looked around and finally remembered that all the rooms were occupied.

“I can’t fall asleep on a different bed. I’ll go home.”

Wang Zikai tossed the controller away. “Alright. I’ll walk you.”

He didn’t object.

They walked out of the mansion. It was dark.

“It’s too dark. I’ll drive you home,” Wang Zikai said.

Gao Yang didn’t say anything.

“I’ll get the car. Wait.” Wang Zikai rushed to the garage.

“Gao Yang.” Vermilion Bird walked across the front yard with a large bag of breakfast. “Don’t just stand there. Give me a hand.”

“Alright.” He took the bag from her and followed her back into the mansion.

“Breakfast time!” she called out from the living room.

1. As mentioned before, Gao Yang is pronounced the same as ‘lamb’ in the biblical sense. ☜
