The Creatures That We Are
Chapter 1292: Forbidden

Chapter 1292: Forbidden

The skeleton was still alive. It moved its jawbone in an attempt to speak.

“Healing forbidden,” Adept Horse said through his will. Nana’s random erasure had lifted, and they were all back together.

Lovely Lamb: “Damage transfer forbidden.”

Hong Xiaoxiao: “Time reversal forbidden.”

Vermilion Bird: “Resurrection forbidden.”

Zhang Wei: “Illusion forbidden.”

Qing Ling: “Imagination forbidden.”

Heavenly Dog: “Speech forbidden.”

Raven Shark: “Thinking forbidden.”

Liao Liao: “Cheating forbidden.”

White Dew: “Rule power forbidden.”

Dr. Jia: “Misinterpretation forbidden.”

Wang Zikai: “Reflection forbidden.”

Gregor: “Forbidding prohibition forbidden.”

Parry: “Forbidden! Forbidden! Forbidden!”

Gao Yang’s hand remained pierced through Nana’s skeletal form, and his companions circled them, announcing prohibitions. Just when they thought they had finally tied down the boss with unrivaled power and craftiness, the scene froze. It was merely a mirror.

A pair of hands held onto the mirror. With a smirk, Nana bent the mirror in half.

The mirror shattered, and so did those in the mirror. One of the broken shards cut Nana’s finger. Gao Yang and his companions had turned into viruses and entered Nana’s blood vessel through the open wound.

They traveled through the universe of her body along a large blood vessel, making attacks and using Talents to wreak havoc to the best of their ability. They bombed the plains of muscles, cut down tendons and veins, boiled the seas of blood, and slaughtered the armies of cells. Like the grim reaper reincarnate, they brought destruction and death wherever they went.

A thin trail of blood gushed out of Nana’s fingertip like a popped pimple. Then “pimples” surfaced densely on the back of her hand, spreading to her forearm and popping.

With a powerful shake, she turned her entire arm into a dandelion. A gust of wind scattered its seeds.

Sixteen of the seeds quickly grew bigger and took human forms, transforming back into Gao Yang and his companions. At the same time, the other seeds exploded, and the resulting smoke condensed into a giant black hand to catch them.

Qing Ling made a fierce swing to cut the black hand in half and attack Nana.

Rather than dodging, Nana turned into a flash of light and entered the slash, amplifying it by ten times and sending it hurtling in reverse like a boomerang.

“My turn!”

Wang Zikai leaped and entered the slash in a flash of gold. It immediately became a headless fly that zigzagged around in a chaotic trajectory.

“Metal.”

Qing Ling quickly fixed the slash in place. The slash expanded into a giant white plane, from which a gold spot and a black spot surfaced.

With a clap, Gao Yang turned the white plane into an abstracted billiard table. He conjured a cue stick in his hands with golden energy. The moment he bent in position, the golden ball rolled toward the stick.

He thrust. The golden ball flew toward the black ball, the collision sending the two balls rolling and bouncing on the table in an eternal movement. The others began to move around the table, moving the pockets in an attempt to capture the black ball while avoiding the golden ball.

The black ball, while bouncing around at high speed, continued to adjust its trajectory to avoid the pockets. When it flew toward Gao Yang, he inserted his hands into the pocket before him and stretched it to the sides, expanding it.

With nowhere to go, the black ball suddenly grew a pair of cartoonish black feet, using friction to stop its advance. Then it made a powerful leap to escape the table.

The black ceiling fell from above to shroud the black ball and everyone. When they realized it, a large grand piano had emerged in the cosmos.

Wearing a long dress, White Dew sat at the piano and played the black and golden keys with her slim fingers. An intense melody echoed while the black and golden keys unleashed fearsome energy, scattering into countless energy notes. The notes clashed and collided at high frequency, creating clouds of nebulae.

As the music accelerated, the notes clashed at even greater frequency. The very nature of the clash shifted, and the war between the two-dimensional notes evolved into the birth and destruction of a three-dimensional galaxy.

Yet a greater perspective had frozen the epic fight into a still frame. The galaxy was merely a cheap crystal ball.

“Hah!”

With a shout, Chen Ying slammed the crystal ball into the ground.

The second before the crystal ball shattered, its light reflected into her eyes precisely. Chen Ying paused. A romantic scene played out in her vision.

Zhang Wei, dressed formally, held out a bouquet of red roses—no, they weren’t roses, but red snake heads that could petrify someone with a glance. Face flushed and body shaking with nerves, Zhang Wei mustered his courage and declared, “I-I have feelings for you! Please be my girlfriend!”

Wearing a bright and sweet spring uniform, Nana bowed deeply with a bashful, awkward expression. “I’m sorry, senpai. You’re a good person.”

“Nooooo!”

Zhang Wei dropped to his knees and howled with heartbreak. The universe went black, leaving only the simple interface of a text-based RPG with popping notifications.

The world returned.

Returned were the humans, the city, the streets, and then the night sky. People packed into the seemingly infinite square densely like an ocean of heads. It felt like the population of the entire world had gathered.

Among them, Gao Yang and his companions looked up at the night sky together, counting down to the New Year.

“Five.”

“Four.”

“Three.”

“Two.”

“One.”

A firework streaked upward across the night sky before blooming into a grand explosion.

A black hole was born instead.
