Chapter 1275: It’s Okay

“Sign mine,” White Dew said, coming up with a book covered in fuzzy white hair with a tail attached to its spine.

“This isn’t my book,” Gregor said.

“Sign it for me,” White Dew ordered.

“Alright, I’ll sign.” Gregor relented. He was about to take the book when his hands disappeared. He panicked. “Ah! My hands...my hands...”

“Trash.” White Dew turned on her heels and left.

“Why...why did this happen?” Gregor broke down and collapsed to the ground, howling with tears. “I’m not a good man. I don’t deserve anything...”

Adept Horse appeared, but his face was replaced with a horse face that looked calm despite its sad eyes. He crouched down and put a hand on Gregor’s shoulder without actually touching it, like a low-fidelity 3D game.

“Don’t think that way, Gregor.”

“No, that is the case. I was terrible. I don’t deserve to have what I have...” Gregor’s tears ran down, full of pain and guilt.

“No, I’m questioning if we ever really have anything,” Adept Horse said, the question seemingly posed for both Gregor and himself.

Gregor looked up with tears in his eyes.

Adept Horse’s horse face continued to say, “We only have what we have because of the choice of those things. They come and go as they wish. It has nothing to do with whether we deserve them.”

“Nothing?” Gregor’s eyes widened.

“Is there anything?” Adept Horse asked.

“Nothing?”

“Anything?”

“Yeah! Nothing!” Gregor brightened up and turned into a horse, galloping away while neighing, “Nothing to do with it! Nothing hahaha!”

Riding on Gregor’s back, Zhang Wei swung the lasso in his hand and said, “Sorry! It’s okay! Thank you! You’re welcome! Hahaha!”

Heavenly Way flew in the sky, chasing after Gregor with Liao Liao on her back.

With an arm around Heavenly Dog’s neck, Liao Liao tracked Gregor with a camera. “Stop! Wrong! Reshoot!”

A deafening sound came from above. A massive black shadow emerged from the horizon and quickly loomed over the entire land like a tsunami.

What is that?

Gao Yang recovered from his reverie. A parrot stood before them like a mountain. It cawked thunderously:

“Reshoot! Reshoot! Reshoot!”

Gao Yang finally realized that he was dreaming.

His thought translated into concrete language and reached everyone. Soon, their voices reached him, too.

Gregor: Oh! I’m dreaming!

Chen Ying: It’s such a messy dream. Are you all part of my dream?

Qing Ling: I’m not.

White Dew: We’re in the same dream?

Dr. Jia: No, it feels more like our dreams have melted together.

Zhang Wei: Is there a difference?

Dr. Jia: The former has a main entity, the latter does not.

Zhang Wei: Ugh, just forget it.

Liao Liao: When did we fall asleep?

Dr. Jia: Humans don’t remember how we fall asleep, but we will remember how we wake up. We’re already close to waking up when we realize we are dreaming.

Wang Zikai: Then why am I still not awake?!

Dr. Jia: I told you we weren’t in one dream, but an amalgamation of all of our dreams. If only one person does not realize the fact, we won’t wake up.

Hong Xiaoxiao: Who hasn’t realized it? Little Lamb?

Lovely Lamb: Sister Hong, I know this is a dream.

Vermilion Bird: Raven Shark?

Raven Shark: Here.

Heavenly Dog: Yo.

Vermilion Bird: Everyone has realized that this is a dream...no! There’s one we didn’t think of.

In an instant, the world reverted to the Sunset Boulevard they had first entered: the desert with a road that ran to the horizon. But the billboards on the sides were gone. At the horizon, the incredibly big parrot blocked the setting sun.

Its big eyes darted around quickly as its body twitched. It was dreaming.

It was an absurd scene. It appeared as if Gao Yang and his companions were figures portrayed in a painting, while the parrot was looking at it from the outside.

“Stupid bird!” Zhang Wei shouted. “So it’s the bird that’s still dreaming!”

“Don’t curse at it!” Dr. Jia snapped.

“We’re going to! Are you gonna stop us? Damn you, bird!” Wang Zikai was furious, too.

Dr. Jia paused. “Well deserved! Stupid bird, stop dreaming! Wake up!”

His logic was simple: he would rather curse Parry out himself than let others do it.

“It won’t work.” Gregor lit a cigarette. “While parrots are smart, it’s impossible for them to realize they are dreaming.”
