The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 83 - 81: Breakthrough

Chapter 83: Chapter 81: Breakthrough

"Boss, little sister will be okay," Jianxiong kept repeating this phrase, his heart also racing with urgency.

"The top priority now is that we have to get out of here; Su Mo can’t heal in this place," Li Qian reminded Lu Chen as he looked at him.

When it came to something related to Su Mo, Lu Chen finally regained some sense. He gently kissed her forehead, lifted her in his arms, and approached Li Qian, "Protect her, I’ll take point."

Li Qian nodded solemnly, "Understood."

He carefully took Su Mo from Lu Chen’s arms. Her thigh wound, though healing, was mutating. He looked at Lu Chen again and saw that the man seemed oblivious, his gaze lingering reluctantly on her face.

In silence, he hugged Su Mo tighter and turned to Su Niang to say, "Get on my back, we’re going to break out through sheer force."

Su Niang nodded and cautiously climbed onto his back. He also asked Lu Chen for a rope to tie Su Niang to himself.

Once everyone was ready, Lu Chen, with a cold expression, opened the door: "Let’s go."

Li Qian, carrying the injured, was protected in the center, with Jianxiong and Zhao Changsheng flanking either side, as they quickly ran down the stairs.

At the ground floor entrance, the earthen wall that the girl with the ponytail had erected was now showing numerous cracks.

Mo Yan had already instructed Ai Yang and the others to prepare for a forceful breakout.

Zhao Xiweng stood aside, looking at Lu Chen coming down and wanting to speak several times but recoiling from the man’s chilling visage.

On the ground, Mo Yan had tried to find someone to move Chu Mengyao first, but with her intestines spilling out, it was impossible to put them back in with current medical capabilities.

"Mengyao, don’t blame me," he squatted in front of her, stroking her hair over and over.

Chu Mengyao, in a daze, shook her head. Her heart and head were still intact, and she still clung to a sliver of consciousness: "I don’t want to die, Mo Yan, I don’t want to die."

"You shouldn’t have provoked Su Mo," Mo Yan said gently, but his fiery red eyes were cold and merciless. Without Chu Mengyao, he still had Zhao Xiweng.

She regretted it; she truly regretted it. Chu Mengyao weakly clung to his arm, desperately seeking a glimmer of hope.

Mo Yan gently wrenched free from her grasp and said to the others behind him, "Get ready, we move as soon as the earthen wall cracks."

Ai Yang approached Chu Mengyao, pity in his eyes as he adjusted her clothes and hair. One of her legs was gone, and he couldn’t bear to look at the gaping wound in her abdomen: "Mengyao, I’ll make it quick for you."

"No, I was wrong, I don’t want to die!" Chu Mengyao wailed and pleaded. Her body had lost all sensation; even her heartbeat had become abnormally slow, but she refused to give up, she didn’t want to die.

Ai Yang’s hand around her neck tightened. Seeing her beg like this, he sighed, released his grip, and waited for the earthen wall to shatter; she would be left with not even remnants to her name.

By the time Lu Chen arrived, Chu Mengyao was on the brink of death. He crouched down, pried open her mouth with his slender fingers, and a small glass bottle suddenly appeared in his hand. He poured its contents into her mouth and then smashed the empty bottle on the ground.

"You shouldn’t die so easily," the man murmured.

Chu Mengyao, who was on the verge of dying from excessive blood loss, slowly regained consciousness. She couldn’t move, but her awareness became startlingly clear, and even her ashen face showed some improvement. Lu Chen had given her Biluochun Tea, barely keeping her last breath alive.

The cracks in the earthen wall multiplied until, under tense anticipation, it completely shattered. The gate was easily breached, and the outside air, mixed with the stench of a viral rain and the roars of Evolution Species, pierced the sky.

Countless Evolution Species sprung from the ground, their elongated spinal columns arching as they attacked.

Lu Chen gave one last look to Su Mo in Li Qian’s arms, nodded at him, and turned around. His superpower surged wildly as he led the charge into the horde of zombies.

Li Qian hurried to keep up.

Zhao Changsheng’s five-meter-long Thunder Whip lashed fiercely at the Evolution Species beside her, while Jianxiong, like a giant King Kong, had skin that became extremely hard. Clenching his fist, bone spurs as long as ten centimeters extended from his knuckles, and with one punch, he pierced through the zombie’s head.

The powerful superpowers of the few individuals stunned Mo Yan and the others behind them.

"They all advanced!?" Ai Yang’s eyes widened in shock. The ratio was too high.

Zhao Xiwen was already regretting herself so much that she wished she could disappear. Had she not fallen out with them, she would definitely have been among those protected.

"We follow them," Mo Yan said, as a fireball formed in his hand. He cast one last glance at Chu Mengyao and then charged forward without looking back.

Zhao Xiwen became their only Water Element Superpower User. Ai Yang hoisted her onto his shoulder and cast an apologetic look at Chu Mengyao on the ground before following closely behind.

Everyone had abandoned Chu Mengyao; she lay on the ground all alone, conscious but unable to move.

In her frightened eyes, countless zombies overwhelmed her, tearing off her arms and digging out her organs, until the very last second her head was torn off, she still felt the pain of their sharp teeth biting into her flesh.

Lu Chen kept sprouting Cold Ice Barbs on the road leading to the prison gate; any zombie that leaped at him or tried to pass through it to attack Li Qian was punctured in the head without hesitation.

Zhao Changsheng’s whip stirred up sparks wherever it went; the rain increased her lethality manifold, as the electricity passed through the water and scorched countless zombies.

Jianxiong was a close-combat type strength superpower user. The advanced Li Qian could briefly interfere with the zombies’ movements to coordinate with his attacks.

Although it was only for a brief second, that was enough.

Apart from occasionally drinking some water, their superpowers seemed inexhaustible to Mo Yan and the others.

Su Niang on Li Qian’s back noticed Su Mo’s eyelashes flutter. She quickly tapped him on the shoulder, "The lady is still conscious!"

Su Mo lay in Li Qian’s arms, uttering a muffled groan.

Li Qian quickly looked down as the rain splattered blur on his glasses, and after confirming there was no sign of her turning into a zombie on her face, he shouted urgently, "Su Mo is waking up! Quick!"

Hearing this, Lu Chen’s movements became even more ferocious. Ice frost even formed on his eyebrows. As he exhausted his superpower, he guzzled the Biluochun Tea that Su Mo had given him; every member of the team did the same. Although it wasn’t much, it was enough to sustain them until they reached the vehicle.

Jianxiong kicked away the Evolution Species crawling in front of the car, sending it flying several meters away. Zhao Changsheng clung to the car door and flipped onto the roof.

"You guys get in. I’ll support from outside while it’s raining," she said.

Lu Chen tossed the keys to Jianxiong and took Su Mo into the car from Li Qian’s arms.

Li Qian put Su Niang in the back seat and swiftly got into the passenger’s seat.

Jianxiong opened the vehicle’s sunroof and stuck his hand out the window to pat the roof, "Get inside first, I’m going to break through!"

The prison’s iron gate was still closed tightly; they had no choice but to burst through it.

Zhao Changsheng swung her whip at the approaching zombies and quickly jumped down through the sunroof.

Jianxiong slammed on the accelerator, charging forward. The iron gate of the prison was broken open by the impact, and the front of the car was smashed in...
