Chapter 495: Chapter 493: Flying a Plane?

Lu Chen took a gulp of jasmine tea, knelt on one knee, and placed his hand on the bridge surface. As he activated his superpower, cold ice spread from his fingertips at an astonishing speed. In the blink of an eye, with the help of the damp black water, all the mutated water grass was frozen solid.

Everyone was able to catch their breath. He stood up and urged in a cold voice, "Hurry up and move, we won’t hold out here for long."

There was still some distance to the shore, and he took the lead in sprinting ahead.

All the others followed closely behind.

And indeed, just as Lu Chen had said, about seven or eight seconds after being frozen, the ice began to crack, followed by even more frantic slapping against the broken bridge.

A large number of stones fell off, and a network of cracks appeared on the bridge surface, accompanying the collapsing sounds that shot straight into Su Mo’s ears.

She didn’t even look back, knowing that the bridge had collapsed. She pushed her speed to the limit, far surpassing the others, and was the first to reach the other side.

The advantage of speed superpowers was always predominant when running away.

Upon touching solid ground, she let out a heavy sigh, then turned to look back.

Fortunately, all the people in their group were Doomsday Elites. Not a single one was injured or dragged into the water; each one had strength to spare.

As the entire bridge collapsed, the gigantic mutated water grass submerged back into the water, restoring calm to the whole river.

"Damn," Jianxiong spat on the ground, "Now how are we supposed to get back, the only way is gone."

"There’s more than one exit from Yellowstone City. We’ll just take a detour," Su Mo said, not minding the situation as she took out their three combat vehicles from her bag.

"Let’s hurry and leave, it’s about to get dark," Jin Han stepped onto the vehicle.

Lu Chen also took out his motorcycle and gestured to Su Mo.

She ran over and jumped on the bike, not forgetting to observe his complexion, "Did you overuse your superpower just now? Are you feeling uncomfortable?"

The man shook his head, and flicked her forehead, "I’m not that weak."

Su Mo responded with a giggly, "I thought the same."

The vehicles left the bridge one after the other and headed towards the city.

On the way, they passed by the large Yellowstone Airport. The entrance was desolate, the doors were tightly shut, and outside lay the bodies of dozens of zombies. Through the collapsed holes in the surrounding walls, Su Mo could see zombies wandering back and forth on the airport runway, as well as a few large airplanes stained with dirt, appearing rusty.

Su Mo stared at those airplanes, blowing in the evening wind, and suddenly asked, "Does P City have an airport? I don’t think I’ve ever noticed one."

"No, there’s a wasteland you’ve been to," Lu Chen’s deep voice was carried away by the wind.

Su Mo’s thoughts grew lively. She tightened her grip around his waist, "Can you fly a plane?"

"I can operate a fighter jet."

"Um... When we go back, could you try... flying a big airplane?"

Lu Chen glanced at her from the motorcycle’s rearview mirror, his expression easing, "Are you looking for a shortcut?"

"It’s been so long; the zombies inside must’ve mostly gone. We could give it a try," Su Mo tilted her head looking at the half of his face in the little mirror.

"We can give it a try," he said.

Su Mo smiled, then added, "Actually, I want to see from high above where that herd of beasts will go, so we can avoid them in the future."

The beast horde that man had spoken of still worried her, especially since it had passed close to P City.

As the motorcycle lights lit up, brightening the barely visible road ahead, Lu Chen said, "Good idea."

Having reached a consensus, they entered Yellowstone City, and the sky was already filled with stars. A few scattered zombies were chasing after their car.

In an office at the airport, several people were dwelling quietly, watching them pass by below.

An observant Spiritual Superpower User immediately sensed the people at the airport and quickly informed Jin Han of the discovery.

Su Mo observed the city, noticing plants everywhere. Despite it being night, she could see wild grass poking out from the cracks in the pavement. At first glance, these didn’t seem dangerous, but their sharp edges easily slashed through her pant leg.

The abandoned cars on the street were covered in green ivy, which gave them a unique appearance,

The buildings on either side were entwined with woody vines with peeling orange-brown bark, sporting many oddly shaped oval leaves.

Lu Chen found a police station and decided to spend the night there.

They parked the car in front of the station, where a few Level 2 Zombies clawed their way toward them.

Su Mo hopped out of the car and quickly took care of the returning zombies.

Inside the police station, the furniture was in disarray, and five or six living zombies were cuffed to chairs, unable to move, with several decomposing bodies in police uniforms lying at their feet.

Jianxiong knocked out the zombies in the lobby with his fists and went straight to the back, opening a large door.

Behind the door was a detention area, with several sturdy-looking cages made of steel pipes.

Lu Chen casually took a seat and said in a faint voice, "We will stay here tonight, and enter the Botanical Garden first thing in the morning."

The luxurious cells were given to Jin Han’s people to stay in. Su Mo cleared the desks, which could be used as beds, of all their documents and pushed them together so that the three of them could make do for the night.

Jin Han came out to them and said, "I forgot to tell you something. There seem to be survivors at the airport."

Su Mo didn’t react much, simply taking out a large iron pot from her System Bag and boiling a pot of water, adding rice to it.

With so many people, they had to steam rice in the iron pot; otherwise, they wouldn’t have enough food for everyone.

Jianxiong, holding a piece of foxtail grass he had found somewhere, played with it indifferently, saying, "There are plenty of survivors in this world."

"Maybe they’re short of a pilot," Su Mo said casually, not realizing that this statement would indeed come true when it was time to return.

After preparing a large pot of rice and serving it to everyone, Su Mo also cooked several plates of stir-fried rabbit meat as a side dish.

Unfortunately, the dish didn’t turn out as well as it could have, but as it came from the iron pot, it still contained a trace of energy. Su Mo wasn’t too bothered by it.

Once everyone had their fill, Jin Han pulled Lu Chen aside to discuss plans for the next day.

Without Su Mo involved, she stood up and wandered around the police station, eventually finding a small public shower room.

She was thrilled when she carelessly turned on the tap and clean water sprayed out.

She hadn’t had a chance to bathe since they started their journey.

"Need any help?"

Lu Chen had appeared behind her without her noticing, and his cool fingers brushed her smooth back, now only covered by her bra.

Startled, Su Mo turned around, her hands defensively over her chest as she blushed slightly, "How did you get in here? Are you done talking with them?"

He looked at her emotionlessly, his dark eyes filled with unspoken emotions, revealing his inner turmoil.

He pulled the shower curtains closed, and the man stepped closer before turning on the shower overhead.

"If we hurry, we can still catch up with the conversation," he said.
