The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 457 - 455: The Shop Given to Her

Chapter 457: Chapter 455: The Shop Given to Her

Su Mo also understood that when Yang Yichu took her away, he also led away a huge group of zombies. P city could only be so clean because of her contribution.

She laughed and said, "When we arrive at the refugee camp tonight, you all have to reward me well."

"That job should really be done by our leader, not suitable for us," Jianxiong teased, winking at the two people via the rearview mirror inside the car.

Lu Chen kicked the driver’s seat, "Isn’t the car enough for you to drive?"

Looking at the person in his arms whose face was slightly red, the man hooked up a faint smile, feeling pleased. Even without Jianxiong saying anything, he had already entertained that idea.

The best reward, he would give her without any reservation.

Noticing the smile on the man behind her, Su Mo, who was always held on his lap, sprang up and moved to sit next to Lin Yao.

Lin Yao turned her head and said, "You two seem to have a good relationship."

Su Mo replied nonchalantly, "Hmm, we have been together since the apocalypse started."

Lin Yao nodded and didn’t converse further.

When they arrived outside the refugee camp, their vehicle had to line up.

Lu Chen said that the broadcasts in Y city had stopped as they were no longer accepting ordinary people due to reaching the population limit, except for superpower users. Now, the only surviving broadcast was coming from P city’s refugee camp, and after that, the population here began to explode.

In this lineup, everyone’s face was filled with worry and fear, scared that they would once again be denied entry into the refugee camp.

Especially upon seeing the military vehicle, the extraordinary demeanor of the few people inside made these ordinary people cautiously avoid them. Some even stepped back voluntarily, signaling politely that they could cut in line.

However, Jianxiong did not do that; he followed the rules and queued up honestly.

Lu Chen handed Su Mo a piece of bread and a bottle of milk, "To tide your stomach over for now."

As she was munching on the bread, she saw him grabbing a few cans and throwing them to the remaining people.

When it was their turn, it was already midnight. Searchlights were mounted on the high wall, constantly monitoring the surroundings.

The soldier in charge of inspections recognized Lu Chen at a glance, quickly straightened his posture, and saluted, "Admiral Lu."

"Let’s get checked separately," Jianxiong said as he stopped the car, and everyone got out.

Su Mo noticed that the entrance had been expanded more than twice its original size, and there were two separate virus inspection rooms for men and women, seemingly modeled after the B city base.

"I’ll wait for you inside," Lu Chen said as he touched the top of her head.

"Hmm."

Su Mo and Lin Yao followed a female nurse in a white lab coat into one of the rooms.

She felt amazed; the changes in one month were significant, it seemed all procedures had become much more formal.

Both of them were required to strip down to their underwear for inspection. Lin Yao seemingly inadvertently asked Su Mo, "What is your relationship with Lord Lu?"

Su Mo narrowed her eyes, immediately sensing something unusual about her question. She turned around, raising an eyebrow, "A couple with a registered marriage."

Lin Yao was somewhat surprised; she initially guessed that it might be a special superpower user, a hard-to-sever bed companion.

Those thoughts in her mind, Su Mo had played them through several times in her belly, and got rather clear about it. Well, during her absence, this damn man had spread his deadly charm again.

"Can your Healing Superpower completely heal the zombie virus?"

Lin Yao spoke somewhat proudly, "That’s right, as long as it is during the period when the bite has not fully triggered the transformation, I can save them."

After the examination, Su Mo got dressed and simply said, "Not bad."

Not bad? Lin Yao widened her eyes; her much-prided superpower had only elicited a ’not bad’ from this woman?

She closed her clothes, a bit stifled, and said, "Then may I ask, Miss Su, what is your superpower? What makes Lord Lu and those high-level superpower users desperately search for you?"

Her words carried a hint of aggression, somewhat choking. Su Mo didn’t mind and just smiled, "Speed superpower. The only advantage might be that I’m quite good at cooking."

She walked out without caring at all about Lin Yao’s utterly darkened expression.

Lu Chen had already finished the check-up and was waiting there; he didn’t take her back to their community but had Jianxiong and others go back first to report.

Su Mo, curious, looked at the people coming and going around and asked, "Where are you taking me?"

"Your store."

The two of them walked into the refugee camp, hand in hand.

"It’s so late; we could go see it tomorrow morning," Su Mo quickly said, worried that Lu Chen had been overstressing himself these past days and still taking her around.

The man kept walking without stopping, his tone suddenly low, "It’s alright, there’s a room prepared for you on the top floor."

Su Mo hadn’t realized what was happening and he had pulled her along for quite a distance.

The original refugee camp had superpower users and ordinary people each on one side, but because several plots of land had been newly enclosed, the area had expanded a lot. Next to the residential zone, there were two newly included streets and empty plots.

It resembled the construction of a crossroad, with one direction leading to the ordinary people’s residential area, one to the superpower users’ residential zone, one to a street, and another road where Su Mo could vaguely see a large piece of land covered by tents.

A large hall had been temporarily erected in the center, somewhat resembling a mission dispatch hall.

Su Mo marveled at the completely different makeover inside, and she was led to that newly developed street.

There were few people here, and many shops were still shuttered.

Lu Chen said quietly, "This area has just been developed, later to be exclusively used for trading. You just need to hand over some Crystal Stones, and you can rent a shop here to sell goods."

"That’s a great idea, did you think of it?" Su Mo’s eyes were very bright.

"Li Qian thought of it, he is very visionary."

The two walked further inside. The shop given to Su Mo was located in the middle part of the street, the exterior was well-maintained, and the inside was also very clean. It was a three-story building, reportedly formerly a small but renowned restaurant.

She let go of his hand, ran happily to the door, and looked through the glass at the interior setup which included many wooden tables and chairs, and the ceramic tile floor was very clean, obviously well-maintained by someone.

"Amazing!" she praised vigorously.

In Lu Chen’s hand, a key had appeared at some point; he put the key into her hand and said softly, "Go inside and take a look."

Su Mo took the key, opened the door, and entered. The interior setup was really simple yet warm.

"Aunt Jiang specially arranged this," he said, locking the door again behind her, his eyes darkening and becoming increasingly fervent.

Su Mo toured the first floor and then went to have a look at the kitchen, which was spotlessly clean and fully equipped, all provided by her friends in this past month.

Her eyes slightly reddened, she stepped onto the second floor, which had large floor-to-ceiling windows from which the view downstairs was visible. If all the lights on the street could be turned on, it would certainly be beautiful.
