The Chef Rules the Last Days -
Chapter 403 - 402: Let Her Go
Chapter 403: Chapter 402: Let Her Go
Lu Jin had cleared all the surveillance footage of any suspicious personnel, and despite Su Yao feeling that something was amiss, the messenger who came back didn’t notice anything wrong.
...
"You’re leaving? Going back to the surface!?" Lu Yuan screamed in disbelief, "What are you thinking, brother? How can we possibly go up!"
"If you prefer to stay here and die, that’s also an option," Lu Jin sat on the sofa, his face expressionless, his voice cold.
Lu Yuan was stunned, "What do you mean?"
Not just her, Lu Youwei and the two ladies were utterly lost, "Is there a problem with the laboratory?"
That was the only thing they could think of now.
Lu Jin stood up, not wishing to say more, "The luggage will be packed tonight; someone will come to assist."
After speaking, he walked away without looking back.
Chang Sheng, who had always been by his side as a confidant, reported in a low voice, "All personnel are ready to evacuate at any time, but, Mr. Lu, where should we go afterwards?"
Lu Jin squinted his eyes, a rare trace of confusion crossing the depths of his eyes, "Anywhere."
He didn’t know, and Chang Sheng didn’t ask further; in this situation, all he could do was follow Lu Jin relentlessly to ensure his own safety.
In her room, Su Mo received a return message from Feng Yao hidden under a cake.
She pulled it out; tomorrow at midnight was the day the laboratory would be destroyed.
When setting the explosion in the laboratory, Feng Yao also tampered with the system; the power system would fail, and the magnetic field would be automatically shut down, giving them only one hour to escape.
The back of the note displayed a map of the escape route.
After noting it down, Su Mo threw it into her System Bag.
In the past few days, her arm had fully regained mobility; the previous amputation hadn’t left her with any lingering effects.
The agreed time quickly approached, but Lu Jin hadn’t appeared in front of her.
Tonight, at eleven o’clock, the lights above flickered erratically before the entire Eden House plunged into absolute darkness amid sizzling sounds.
Yells echoed down the hallways outside.
"Go find Mr. Lu and ask what’s happening!"
"I can’t find anyone!"
"Dr. Su, quick, find Dr. Su!"
The guards outside her door, all of them Su Yao’s men, no, more precisely, the laboratory staff except for Lu Jin’s own soldiers, were probably all Dr. Su’s people.
Listening to the frantic footsteps in the hallway outside and feeling the magnetic field vanish, Su Mo’s full strength returned. She placed her hand on the doorknob and slowly turned it.
"Damn! She is coming out! Quick, quick, aim!"
She could hear the panicking voices outside clearly.
Her right hand formed a Wooden Shield around her arm.
The moment she opened the door, like telepathically prompted, countless bullets poured out, striking her shield.
She restrained her inherently violent tendencies triggered by blood, not killing them but instead, in a blink of an eye, vanished using her superpower into the hallway.
Along the way, she discarded the monitors and casually pulled an Identity Card from a passerby, swiped it to start descending directly to the basement of Section S.
...
"Alright, you have 2 minutes to remove the trackers in your necks."
Area A and Area C each had two Level 5 superpower users leading under Feng Yao’s command.
Everyone obediently cut open the skin on their necks with the help of their companions, removing the tracker inside and throwing it on the ground.
At the same time, Lu Youwei and others, led by Lu Jin, hastened toward the elevator to get to the helicopter.
"That’s my son!" Fang Ya struggled desperately.
Her actions displeased Lu Youwei, who forcefully grabbed her arm and bellowed, "You didn’t bear me a child, and I tolerated it because of Lu Cang, but now, I especially regret not strangling him along with you back then!"
Fang Ya momentarily forgot to struggle. "What, what?"
Seeing Lu Youwei’s suddenly vexed expression, she finally began to understand.
"Lu Cang, did you kill him?" Her voice turned incredulous, her beautiful features twisted, and finally, she viciously slapped Lu Youwei across the face.
Arguing with a spouse was obviously not a good idea at this time.
Lu Youwei promptly let go of her, pulled Fang Lian and Lu Yuan along, and said, "Let’s go!"
The desperate Fang Ya on the ground was picked up by a soldier and hurriedly carried away.
...
Su Yao, who had been tirelessly working on the Evolution Potion in the lab, roared at the moment the power went out!
"Doctor, it’s... it’s a power outage!"
"Continue, Lu Jin will handle it!"
It was the final step, and he absolutely could not afford to be disturbed, to the point that he was unaware of when someone entered the room behind him.
Su Mo had to slit a researcher’s throat to make him speak before she found this place.
A top-secret laboratory was right next to where Ling Ye was held, hidden behind a pristine metallic wall.
Su Mo smiled eerily, holding a blood-stained Identity Card, and swiped it to open the lab door.
Her eye caught sight of all the precise instruments set upon a table, bright red blood stored in glass tubes, as she slowly walked in, calling out, "Daddy."
Upon hearing her, Su Yao immediately turned around, "How did you get in here?"
Su Mo smiled without answering, her crescent-shaped fingernails trailing across the lab table, slowly approaching him, "Daddy, have you ever regretted how you treated me before?"
Su Yao sensed something was wrong and lightly pressed his finger on the alarm button under the counter.
He didn’t know that chaos had already erupted outside, and the only guard squad that responded to the alarm came to report that there was a problem in the lab.
They burst in with guns aimed at Su Mo while reporting to Su Yao, "Doctor, the freezing liquid in Section D is starting to malfunction due to the power outage, Dr. Su!"
Su Yao felt the situation was serious, his gaze darkening as he faced Su Mo, "Where is Lu Jin?"
"Mr. Lu and his soldiers have disappeared," a look of despair on the guard’s face.
The smile on Su Mo’s face grew wider, "Su Yao, I pondered over this plan for several days."
"You deceived me?!"
"I never lost my memory," Su Mo laughed loudly, murderous intent suffused across her cute face.
The researchers behind Su Yao grew increasingly frightened, but he himself was not panicked at all, "I created you once; I can destroy you once again!"
Su Mo was utterly unfazed by his threat, raising an eyebrow, "This time, I want to see who destroys whom."
She summoned the System Bag and took out a living scorpion stored inside.
The black and red scorpion appeared in an instant, its segmented tail with a venomous stinger raised high, and in a flash, it struck the nearest person.
"Ah!"
It was a researcher. The stinger lifted him off the ground and harshly smashed him onto the lab table, scattering equipment all over.
