The Chef Rules the Last Days -
Chapter 400 - 399: Superb Acting
Chapter 400: Chapter 399: Superb Acting
Lu Jin’s response was still so unquestioning and slightly pathological, "As long as it’s from you, I’ll eat it."
A man to the bone with a paranoid and twisted personality, confessing to her. Isn’t that laughable?
Su Mo wanted to laugh, but somehow she couldn’t anymore. She leaned closer to him and brushed the stray hair from his forehead, "Ajin, what if I want to destroy you and also dad, would that be okay?"
She was testing him, gauging just how far he would go for her.
"As long as you want it, I’ll make it happen for you," Lu Jin took her hand and gently kissed it.
Su Mo yawned, "Okay, I get it, I want to sleep now."
The man tucked her hand under the covers, helped her lie down properly, and covered her up, yet he lingered without leaving, staring greedily at her face.
The next morning, Su Yao came to see her.
Su Mo sat in her blanket, allowing him to check on her. Su Yao said many caring words, and expressed his regret for his hasty visit yesterday.
"Dad will be very busy these next few days, Lu Jin will keep you company."
Su Mo accepted with a beaming smile, "Then, will Ajin come later? I haven’t seen him all morning."
"He’s dealing with things in Zone B and the Central Control Room, he’ll come over in the evening," Su Yao said, patting her head as he kept his patience.
"Then I’ll eat cake while I wait for him," Su Mo said cheerfully.
"Alright, I’ll have someone send it to you."
Not long after he left, a baker pushing a cart was let in. He placed delicate cakes one by one on the table, all the while stealing glances at her with trembling hands.
Su Mo approached him curiously, "Are you afraid of me?"
The girl in front of him was clearly in her early twenties, looking innocently pure, but the baker was terrified. He had seen her, that day when a handsome man held him hostage while baking and a girl burst in to nibble on bread; he remembered clearly, it was this very young girl.
Being watched by an entire ten people, how could she be an ordinary person?
Seeing he didn’t reply, Su Mo seemed a bit bored. Of course, she recognized him but didn’t seem inclined to make trouble, wandering around the room.
The baker felt a gust of wind at the back of his neck and passed out with his eyes rolling back.
Su Mo gently laid him on the bed before he hit the ground. She walked into the bathroom and lifted the clothes at the back of her neck, her hand unhesitatingly thrusting inside.
After gouging out a chunk of flesh, she spread her palm open, unfazed. A tracker emitting a green light was embedded in the flesh.
She carefully extracted it, enduring the sharp pain from her neck, and tucked it under the pillow.
Summoning the System Bag, she took out a sugar rice ball and some Biluochun Tea. She drank the Biluochun Tea, felt the itching at the back of her neck, exhaled deeply, and then swallowed the blood-covered sugar rice ball whole.
[Shape Simulation status bonus successful, duration 10 minutes]
With only ten minutes, she stared at the baker’s face as her body’s contours began to change rapidly.
She stuffed the baker’s body into the cart, closed the small iron door underneath, and pushing the cart with her head down, she opened the door.
When she came out, the guards outside didn’t react at all. She quietly pushed the cart away.
Standing in the dead angle of the camera, she dropped the cart and clenched an Identity Card in her hand that allowed elevator access.
It was also something she had pilfered from that person.
She glanced at a passing warrior, shifted her shape, and adopted a new appearance.
Stepping out from the corner, she made her way to the room where Su Yao had injected the r-virus.
She knew there was a control room behind it.
Standing outside the Control Room, she moved her ears, glanced at the camera above, and then opened the door and walked in.
Su Yao wasn’t there, only two researchers were present.
The two researchers were quite curious about her intrusion.
"Guard, what’s the matter?"
Su Mo didn’t speak at all; her movements were unbelievably fast, and she quickly took down the two researchers.
She casually threw the two unconscious researchers on the floor and looked at the electronic screen in front of her.
It was a folder that had just been unlocked and was named after her.
Su Mo sat down on the chair, opened the folder, and her eyes darkened.
She knew that she had been created from an embryo but didn’t know that she was also a monster born from a zombie.
The r-virus injected into her from childhood prevented her from growing up like a normal person, and each failed reshaping changed her appearance.
After generation after generation of failures, had she slowly turned into her ultimate form?
Heh.
The scenes on the screen tormented her heart and ignited her anger.
Each file recorded a failed version of her.
It was her, half-eaten by a zombie while trapped in a cage, her, riddled with bullet holes as a test subject for physical strength, and also what Su Yao had said about her killing an army, leaving corpses strewn everywhere.
And what about Ling Ye? Would he also be created like this until the Evolution Potion was researched?
Su Mo’s hand clenched instantly, and she forcefully suppressed the bloodthirsty factor in her eyes.
Her hands operated briskly on the screen, and her attention was caught by the encrypted rooms on the bottom level of Zone S, which were marked as restricted areas on the electronic screen.
She stood up, ate another sugar rice ball, and her form changed, becoming one of the two researchers who had lost consciousness.
She fumbled on the two of them for a while and found an Identity Card.
She closed the door and headed straight for the elevator.
Time was short; she couldn’t be sure when the person inside the food cart would wake up, so she had to find Ling Ye’s location as soon as possible.
Entering the elevator, she found the encrypted floor of Zone S among a row of buttons and tried swiping the Identity Card.
The elevator began to descend.
Zone S had a total of 10 floors, and the bottommost floor was secured with multiple encrypted password doors.
Upon arrival, Su Mo successively swiped the research institute’s Identity Card through 9 doors, but was stopped by the last one.
A pure white biological door, devoid of any dirt, her attempts failed 4 times in a row.
"Professor Li, what are you doing here?" Behind her, a researcher’s voice questioned.
Su Mo glanced at the camera overhead, turned around, and feigned panic, "I was coming to tell Dr. Su that there’s a problem with the data on the War Queen in the Central Control Room, but obviously, my clearance isn’t high enough."
The other person, also wearing a white lab coat like hers, was smart and clearly didn’t believe her.
"Wait here, I’ll get someone to check this."
He turned to leave, but Su Mo quickly followed and grabbed his hand, "Wait a moment."
"What?" The other party became even more wary.
She picked up a pen from the ground and handed it to him, "You dropped your pen."
"Thank you," he said, and as his eyes met Su Mo’s, blood tears unexpectedly started to flow from the corners of his eyes.
"My God! What’s happened to you?" Su Mo displayed her superb acting skills, supporting him as they rushed outside, "I’ll take you to see the doctor."
