Chapter 390: Chapter 389: She’s Too Good
Su Mo tilted her head but didn’t attend to him; instead, she yawned, her eyes clear like a deer’s, now misted over.
Incredibly beautiful.
Lu Jin didn’t mind that she didn’t answer him; he pulled back the covers and patted the soft pad beneath the quilt, "Come sleep here."
All traces of violence on his body had been reined in, and what radiated towards Su Mo was endless tenderness.
Su Mo obediently crawled over, only to see him taking clean clothes out of a wardrobe.
He wouldn’t really dress her, would he?
Su Mo sat there, wondering what to do.
Fortunately, even though this man was a bit perverse, he hadn’t stooped to laying hands on a ’pure’ child.
In front of her... he started undressing.
"Watch carefully, first put this on, then cover with this."
Even as the blood surged more profusely from his arm, Lu Jin behaved as if he felt no pain, repeatedly taking off his upper garments and putting them on again, just to demonstrate for Su Mo.
Su Mo sat there dazed, then grabbed the clothes and sized them up against herself.
Seeing that she seemed to understand, Lu Jin gently touched her head and said in a low voice, "After you’ve changed, I’ll come back in."
His fingertip’s blood retracted as it was about to drip onto her head.
A few drops of blood pattered on the floor, trailing the man to the door, which then closed behind him.
Su Mo stared at the clothes in her hands, somewhat stunned.
This person...
She bit her lip, began dressing herself, and intentionally wore the blue uniform jacket incorrectly. The sleeve that should have slipped onto her arm was pulled over her head instead. When Lu Jin walked in, he was met with this ridiculous scene.
Laughter from Lu Jin, pleased, filled her ears.
Su Mo shook her head, and a pair of hands pulled the garment down from atop her head. His arm had stopped bleeding; he must have tended to it outside.
He looked at Su Mo, who resembled a bird’s nest mess, his fingers carefully sweeping the stray hair from her face, treating her as though the nails grown from his very flesh might scratch her.
He helped her with the jacket, zipped it up, and then patted the pillow, "Come lie down."
Su Mo didn’t understand, but he pressed on her shoulders, easing her into the soft cushion, then covered her with the blanket.
"Sleep," he told her.
For an instant, Su Mo thought she saw Lu Chen’s shadow through him.
After all, these two were brothers; the resemblance was there.
She was dazed for a second, then let out a yawn and closed her eyes.
Lu Jin sat quietly beside her, unable to calm the excitement in his heart for a long time. He glanced around, his gaze settling on a few fairy tale books on the shelf, his dark eyes narrowing slightly.
Having feigned sleep at first, Su Mo eventually drifted off, weighed down by the fatigue of the experiments.
When she woke up, the person beside her was gone.
She wondered how Lu Chen and the others were doing now.
Curled up under the blanket, she began to miss him already.
Noise from the door opening came from outside; she composed herself and revealed just her eyes.
Lu Jin entered with a grim expression, followed by Su Yao.
His left eye was wrapped in a bandage, and when he looked at Su Mo, there was no resentment, just a gaze filled with affection, "You’re awake?"
Su Mo stared back at him, stunned.
Su Yao sat down by the bed, gesturing to himself with his index finger, "I, Daddy."
He was coaxing her to speak.
On reflex, Su Mo looked at Lu Jin, who immediately came over to the bed, half-hugging her, "Another day, she’s not yet adjusted."
Su Yao’s expression darkened, "She hasn’t adapted, but we don’t have that much time."
The two of them were now in the same boat, and Lu Jin was well aware of this, but he would not compromise when it came to Su Mo.
In response to his inflexible attitude, Su Yao softened a bit, "You have to understand, she eventually has to learn to speak. Don’t you want to hear her call your name with her own mouth?"
Lu Jin looked down at the head resting on his chest, hesitated for a moment, and finally nodded.
"Come, my girl, I am da, ddy," he elongated the ending deliberately as Su Yao tempted Su Mo again, with a small cart being pushed behind him, on which was placed a piece of Black Forest cake.
Su Mo’s keen sense of smell immediately caught the sweet milky aroma emanating from the cake in the air.
She licked her lips and called out to the cake, "Da, ddy."
"..."
Su Yao picked up the piece of cake and placed it in front of himself, urging Su Mo to call out again.
Finally locking her gaze onto his face, she softly said, "Daddy."
He was the one who made her realize that she was a monster, a tool of war, created by him, and in a way, he truly was her ’biological father.’
However, she really wanted to kill her father now.
Su Mo’s eyes curved as she looked at the cake being handed to her. Without even grabbing a spoon, her entire mouth plunged into the cake.
Fearing she would inhale it into her nose, Lu Jin quickly picked her up by the nape of her neck, "I’ll feed you."
Su Mo lunged to scratch him again, but when her gaze fell on his arm, she suddenly paused, and her hand withdrew.
This scene was noticed by both Su Yao and Lu Jin.
She was really too well-behaved.
Lu Jin’s eyes softened as he found a napkin to wipe the cream off her mouth and spooned a large portion to her lips.
Su Mo gulped it down eagerly, and you couldn’t deny it, the rich milky, fluffy cake really suited her taste.
The palm-sized piece of cake, ravaged by nibbling, was finished in just a few spoonfuls.
Su Yao stroked her head again, praising her, "Very good."
Over the following week, both of them used the same method to coax and teach her to speak and write.
Su Mo made rapid progress. She had been confined here for a week already, and she was becoming impatient about the situation with Lu Chen and the others.
Today, a disagreement arose between Lu Jin and Su Yao outside the door.
Ordinarily, she shouldn’t have been able to hear this through the soundproof door, but her senses, enhanced by the virus, indeed enabled her to hear every word spoken outside clearly.
"You should be clearer than I am about what’s in the experimental field."
"That’s prepared for her return, Lu Jin. We have only a little over half a month left. Don’t hinder me! If you don’t want her to die."
When the door opened, Su Mo resumed her innocent and unknowing demeanor, and upon seeing Lu Jin, she affectionately called out to him, "Ajin~!"
She came down from the bed, her hair in disarray, and rushed over to hug his arm.
"My girl, shall we take you out to play today?" Su Yao said kindly from the side.
Su Mo’s eyes widened in curiosity, "Play?"
"Yes, play."
Su Mo looked towards Lu Jin, "Is Ajin coming too?"
Lu Jin’s throat bobbed as he seemed to reply with difficulty, "Mm."
Her smile was pure and happy.
And tinged with a faint sense of expectation.
She could go outside now.
Although she didn’t know where they were going, she was glad to be going out at last.
