Chapter 382: Chapter 381: Right Hand Mutation

With her powerful addition, the few people whose superpowers had been exhausted seemed to see hope and, each fighting with their last breath, killed off the zombies.

There were nearly a hundred, and after about ten minutes of fierce battle, Su Mo had killed them all, making full use of her right hand’s advantages.

The perfect combination of speed and strength had maximized her lethal power.

Standing among the corpses, she opened her panel to check the progress bar below. These past two days, she had been working tirelessly, earning back 5,000 points, and she was close to breaking even.

The people who had depleted their superpowers looked at an older man who walked up to Su Mo to offer his earnest thanks, "Thank you for lending a hand. You all can take these Crystal Stones."

Even if they hadn’t mentioned it, Su Mo wouldn’t have missed out on her share.

Lu Chen stepped forward, standing by her side, his presence very well restrained.

"Captain, are you sure you want to give them all away? There’s quite a lot of our share in this," someone spoke up, sounding hesitant.

The leader glared at them, "If it weren’t for her, would you have had the chance to get these?"

The girl Su Mo had saved took the initiative to collect all the Crystal Stones into a plastic bag, covered in filth, and handed it to Su Mo, then sincerely thanked her, "Thank you."

Su Mo grabbed the bag, not minding the zombie brain matter still on some of the stones, and casually took a handful. She shook it and presented it back to the girl, "I only take what I killed."

"Are you two heading west? Don’t go this way; the city behind is full of zombies, we’ve just escaped from there," the leader kindly advised them.

Su Mo acknowledged his advice, "Got it, see you if we’re destined to meet again."

Clearly, the two didn’t listen to his words.

The man spoke again, "Why don’t you go to the refugee camp in P City? It’s said that someone has built a fortress there, providing protection for people."

Lu Chen showed some interest. His indifferent eyes met the man’s, "P City? How did you come to know of it?"

"Through the radio broadcast in the car, after leaving B City, it’s the second safe place we’ve heard of, and it’s not too far from us, so we plan to head there."

"Do you know who organized it?"

"Let me think, it seems to be a large force composed of the military and civilians, the leader is called something..."

"Rong Bai," someone reminded from behind him.

The name struck both of them like a bolt of lightning. Su Mo immediately looked up at Lu Chen with a gleam of joy in her eyes, "Rong Bai, huh! They’re really still alive."

These days, this was the best news they had heard.

Lu Chen’s eyes also showed a hint of happiness, softening the harsh lines of his facial features.

The man was clearly surprised by their reaction, "You know the person on the radio?"

Based on the mere fact that Lu Chen and Rong Bai were comrades-in-arms, Su Mo completely trusted Rong Bai’s character. She lifted her smile and said, "If it’s them, then the refugee camp must be safe. You all can head there with peace of mind."

Su Mo did not deny knowing him and her high praise for the camp much pleased the others, "That’s great then, we could travel together, having company on the road."

Su Mo’s smile faded slightly, thinking of Zhao Changsheng and the others whose fate was still unknown. She shook her head and declined, "Take advantage of the nightfall and leave this place quickly, we still have important matters to attend to."

Lu Chen brought out the motorcycle again. Before getting on, he said to the leader with a faint voice, "If you arrive safely, tell Rong Bai that Lu Chen will look for him."

"Definitely!"

Although they did not know why these two obviously strong individuals refused to travel with them, having struggled through the apocalypse for the better part of a year, everyone understood the principle of moderation and did not pry any further. After expressing his gratitude once more, the man led his group away.

Su Mo put away her knife, climbed onto the vehicle, and wrapped her arms around the man’s sturdy waist. "They said there’s a horde of zombies ahead. Let’s hit them!"

"Alright."

The motorcycle roared to life again, speeding towards the dilapidated city.

...

A week went by, and under Su Mo’s relentless slashing, her points were put in order, and she had almost amassed a small mountain of Crystal Stones.

During this time, the pair encountered danger more than once, but each time they narrowly escaped unharmed.

At nightfall, after Su Mo and Lu Chen cleared a whole office building of zombies, they prepared to rest on the top floor.

The two sat on the ground, covered in blood, with the newly acquired Crystal Stones piled in front of them.

"It’s about time; we must advance as soon as possible," Su Mo said as she grabbed a handful of Crystal Stones and absorbed them all, turning them into energy that flowed into the Energy Group within her abdomen.

It had been too long, and she could clearly feel that she was at a tipping point. She was ready to level up.

The process from Level 5 to Level 6 was lengthy. Lu Chen still had no feeling of advancing, and he simply sat by the door, saying to her, "I’ll watch over you."

Su Mo nodded and continued devouring the hunted Crystal Stones.

She had to quickly increase her strength to ensure she could escape smoothly from the Western Laboratory.

After consuming most of the Crystal Stones piled up like a small mountain, a burst of Elemental Light suddenly exploded around her, and her eyes slowly closed.

This time, she officially entered the state of leveling up.

Watching the woman amidst the glow, Lu Chen leaned quietly against the door, his eyes carrying a look of intoxication.

It was that feeling again, like returning to the womb, filled with ultimate comfort. A strand of green energy in the corner of her abdomen, infused with vitality, branched off along her meridians towards her right hand, meticulously transforming every inch of her skin.

Her body also began to undergo qualitative changes, with her medium-length black hair growing rapidly as if it had been treated with a hair growth agent, and her muscular lines becoming more robust and tight.

The leveling-up state lasted for a day and a night. When she opened her eyes, the system’s notification buzzed in her ears.

[Congratulations on leveling up; you have received a special gift pack *2]

She tried to move her hand, sensing something was different. Suddenly, something flew towards her, and Su Mo reflexively raised her hand to block it. Her right arm instantly transformed, with fine wood vines sprouting densely from it, quickly forming a Wooden Shield at the base of her hand.

The can hit the shield and immediately shattered into pieces, scattering corn kernels all around.

This instinctive response surprised not only Lu Chen but also Su Mo herself. Her entire arm below the right shoulder had become a strangely shaped shield, its brown wood vines moving slowly as if endowed with life.

"Not a bad reaction."

Su Mo waved her right hand, and the hand that had turned into a Wooden Shield morphed back into a sharp spindle made of wood vines according to her thoughts, with a sharp green leaf blade growing out of its tip.
