Chapter 368: Chapter 367: Jianxiong’s Thoughts

"Gods will eventually descend, and we will become the new humanity!"

"The envoy of the gods is finally about to complete the mission!"

"..."

Jianxiong, who was behind, also stepped back in surprise next to Zhao Changsheng and saw that Li Qian was still holding her hand; he forced himself to ignore it and then lowered his voice to ask, "How does that kid have that function now? Is this the reason the Western Laboratory wants him?"

Zhao Changsheng, with a relaxed face, responded with a hint of sarcasm, "Evolve? He would need the luck to do so."

People around Su Mo and Lu Chen unconsciously spread out a bit, gathering around Old Dao and the burly man, occasionally throwing out some questions.

Nobody was confining them, so Lu Chen and Su Mo stepped aside.

She looked up at Ling Ye, who was still sitting quietly, "The virus has successfully entered those two men’s bodies, but how should it erupt? If Ling Ye’s blood doesn’t have the ability to burst out worms, we might need to think of another plan."

A cold glint appeared in Lu Chen’s eyes, his face stern as he said, "Don’t worry. Even if this doesn’t work, according to our route to get here, it will only be two days before the arrival of the horde of corpses, which will only come faster."

Su Mo knew he was referring to Yang Yichu. If it doesn’t work, it depends on when it finds her. Thinking of that child, her eyes fell somewhat downcast.

Lu Chen’s eyes darkened. He raised his hand to hook a cluster of her hair that had fallen from her ponytail behind her ear and asked by her ear, "If it finds you, will you go with it?"

His slightly cold voice, accompanied by the cool breath from his nose, carried a touch of suppression.

Su Mo turned her head, her lips only inches away from his face, and answered firmly, "I just feel that the child is pitiful. If it threatens you guys, I will do everything in my power to kill it."

Its endless pursuit of her was indeed giving her headaches. She was genuinely afraid that the enormous horde of corpses around Yang Yichu would harm those around her, but this matter needed a resolution.

She concealed her thoughts because her words made Lu Chen’s tense jawline relax.

That day, because two doctors had successfully developed the Evolution Potion, everyone was excitedly chaotic. The Empress, still uneasy, asked the doctors to re-examine Old Dao and the other man to ensure there were no issues. After confirmation, she decided to hold a grand party in the hall that evening to celebrate the opening of the gates of the new world.

And Ling Ye became a distinguished guest by their side.

The Empress even handed the child in her arms back to Jiang Yulian to take care of, knelt by his side, and said to him, "Whatever you want, I can make it happen for you, envoy who opens the gates, you deserve this honor."

When Ling Ye met her gaze, his eyes passed through hers and met Lu Chen’s eyes, softly saying, "Anything at all?"

He was still a child, with an innocence that softened the Empress’s heart, "Of course."

"Let those two stay and join the party to keep me company," Ling Ye’s little hand reached past the Empress’s shoulder, pointing directly at Su Mo, who was talking.

Following his gaze, the Empress’s eyes darkened, and noticing her expression, Ling Ye reached out and touched her symbol-drawn face, pleading in his voice, "Just for one night, can’t we?"

The warm little hand on the Empress’s face, her palm covering his hand, she slowly said, "The will of God, I cannot refuse."

Ling Ye swung his legs, his little face wearing a smile, looking very happy.

Su Mo and Lu Chen stayed in the hall as he wished.

Although their group huddled together, surrounded by watchful eyes all the time, it felt much better, at least the hostile glares were hidden.

The two doctors had also saved their own lives and returned to the laboratory. They had already discussed that, after today, the blood in Ling Ye’s body would be extracted again for everyone, including themselves.

Who wouldn’t like blood that could grant people superpowers through evolution?

As night fell, three rectangular tables were set up in the hall, laden with various canned goods and mutated meat, along with several bottles of rare wine. In the middle of each table, a cross made from steel pipes was placed; its top was somewhat sharp, with complex patterns engraved on it.

The room was filled with cheers.

Su Mo and the others were seated in the corner, watching the improvised shows that the people had organized themselves.

The Empress at the head table watched with great interest, and everyone gathered in the hall creating a lively scene.

Just then, Ling Ye suddenly stood up from his chair. His action attracted the attention of some people. He shook his coat, which was small in size, dislodging some biscuit crumbs onto the floor, "I need to speak to Su... the Demon for a moment."

The Empress glanced at the person next to her and immediately, someone followed behind him.

Ling Ye stepped down the stairs and made his way to where Su Mo was sitting in the corner.

Seeing Ling Ye approaching, and due to the presence of others, she didn’t make any intimate gestures but simply leaned forward, supporting herself on her knees and asked with a smile, "Does it hurt when they draw your blood?"

Ling Ye’s eyes instantly reddened. He shook his head and said something that baffled the follower, "It doesn’t hurt, my mind is connected with theirs; I can do anything I want."

Hearing this, Su Mo’s smile deepened, "I see."

Ling Ye nodded, then returned under escort.

Zhao Changsheng leaned close to Su Mo and whispered, "Does that kid mean he can control those two unfortunate fellows?"

Su Mo nodded, watching the young man walk away, then touched her stomach and headed toward the few small square tables, "But before leaving, I need to grab some dinner."

At the mention of eating, Zhao Changsheng felt hungry too; she hadn’t eaten much all day, "Let’s go together."

The two women talked and walked arm-in-arm toward the tables.

Seeing this, Li Qian slowly followed them. As Lu Chen was about to go over, Jianxiong suddenly pulled him back. With many people around, he quickly let go and called out in a low voice, "Boss."

Lu Chen turned his head and raised his eyebrows slightly.

Jianxiong hesitated for a moment, scratching his head as if he was embarrassed to speak.

This piqued Lu Chen’s interest. The man put his hands in his pockets and said lightly, "Speak."

That woman, Zhao Changsheng..." Jianxiong’s voice got even lower, and a flush of red started climbing his dark face before he could finish, "What’s the deal with her and Li Qian?"

After he fully articulated his question, his eyes kept darting around, unwilling to meet Lu Chen’s gaze.

This question gave the man an inkling, and his stance wasn’t as relaxed as before, "Do you like her?"

Jianxiong opened his mouth, unable to deny his feelings. In the illusion on Southern Island, he had seen ’her’ with scant clothing, seducing him to join her, the surge of blood to his head and nearly jumping heart still lingered in his memory. Yet, he wouldn’t dare utter such unspeakable thoughts, even if he were lacking a sense.
