Chapter 367: Chapter 366: The Blood of Ling Ye

Jianxiong hurried to knock on Zhao Changsheng and Li Qian’s door and took them with him.

Wrapped in a coat, Ling Ye was carried respectfully into the hall. It was his first time seeing the Empress seated in the chief’s position, and she gave him the highest courtesy by placing a chair at the lower end for him to sit.

Sitting in his place, Ling Ye’s eyes searched everywhere for Su Mo and the others.

As the two entered the hall, they were met with a wave of angry expressions from all around.

Su Mo caught sight of the little figure seated above and calmed his emotions with a look.

Then Jianxiong arrived with Zhao Changsheng and Li Qian as well.

"Go ask the doctors if they are ready. If so, have them come up," the Empress commanded to someone beside her.

Before long, two doctors dressed in white coats wheeled in a cart. On it were several syringes containing Ling Ye’s separated blood.

Upon seeing the Empress, the two knelt on the ground and worshiped her devoutly before standing up to say, "We have developed the First Generation Potion. Just injecting it will trigger evolution."

"The test subjects are ready," announced the Empress, extending a finger toward Su Mo and Lu Chen, who were surrounded and standing in the middle.

The doctors turned their heads and, upon seeing the familiar silhouettes, were shocked. "Them?"

"It’s up to you now, don’t disappoint me," said the Empress, leaning back in her chair as Jiang Yulian, appearing from nowhere, carefully placed a sleeping baby into the Empress’s hands.

Facing Su Mo’s smile and Lu Chen’s expressionless face, the doctors felt their scalps tingle. They held a counterfeit secret that these people knew about. How could they go through with this?

As time ticked by, not a single syringe on the cart was picked up.

Doubtful looks slowly began to rise.

The Empress, sitting in the top seat, was growing impatient. "Well? Is there a problem?"

The doctors’ legs trembled. No matter what choice they made, it seemed like a dead end. What to do?

Zhao Changsheng, standing aside, was also in a panic. She knew there were worms in Ling Ye’s blood. If it were to be injected into Su Mo, what then?

She nudged Li Qian beside her and whispered, "Should we rush over and rescue them?"

Li Qian shook his head, gripping her arm tightly, and said in a gentle voice, "Wait a bit longer."

With no other option, Zhao Changsheng could only stare at Su Mo anxiously.

Jianxiong, who had been observing the situation, suddenly stepped forward and voiced his suspicion to Su Mo and Lu Chen, "I don’t think this will work. Both of these individuals are associated with demons; how could the potion succeed? The Evolution Potion to open the gates of a new world should not be completed by them."

Having mingled in the cult for so long, Jianxiong’s words struck a chord with the frenzied believers.

As expected, voices of agreement followed.

"How can our revered and worshipped deity be consummated by two demons in such a sacred ritual?"

"He’s right, Empress. This task should be entrusted to someone committed to the mission."

"I am willing to offer myself!"

"Me too! Rather than perish, we shall have eternal life! I believe the deity will bring me back!"

"..."

Amid the chaos, Su Mo murmured, "These people are truly insane."

Lu Chen remained expressionless, but a hint of sarcasm seeped through his eyes.

The commotion grew louder, and Jiang Yulian above was somewhat relieved. The Empress faced the group of devout followers. Although she wasn’t overly pleased, she couldn’t suppress their zeal and agreed to their wishes. When her gaze met Su Mo’s, it carried visible displeasure and anger.

The doctors, who had been at a loss on the sidelines, both heaved a sigh of relief as Old Dao and a strange man walked out from the crowd.

Both men had volunteered to be injected with the medicine.

The doctors didn’t waste words, they lifted the men’s arms, disinfected them simply, and then accurately found the veins and plunged the needles in.

All of Ling Ye’s blood was transfused into the two men.

At that moment, a smile crept onto Su Mo’s lips, Success.

Li Qian and Zhao Changsheng, who were standing by ready to lend support, finally relaxed.

Jianxiong almost slapped his chest in relief; his heart was pounding so wildly it felt as if it would burst out.

As the needles were pulled out, all eyes focused on the two men.

The hall turned eerily quiet, everyone held their breath and concentrated on observing the condition of the two men.

Ling Ye, sitting in his chair, felt an indescribable connection with the two men, as if he were controlling bugs, and his gaze settled on Old Dao.

A sensation like ants gnawing at his heart attacked Old Dao, and without warning, his knees thudded to the ground, his face turning pale in an instant, then he collapsed, life and death unknown.

The man beside him reacted the same way.

The two doctors panicked; they had no idea that the blood could have such an effect.

The Empress’s face filled with disappointment, and her gaze toward the two doctors turned cold. She stood up, holding the child, "Dispose of them."

"No, no, no!" As the two armed men approached them, the doctors huddled together and fell to the floor.

A smell of urine invaded Su Mo’s nostrils, and she covered her nose in disgust. These two quack doctors had both wet their pants.

Their white coats were stained with pale yellow liquid, looking extremely disgusting.

Ling Ye above, suddenly moved his finger, and a streak of blue light flitted across his eyes, vanishing in a flash.

Old Dao, who had been prostrate on the ground, began to show signs of life, his hoarse voice croaked out, "Wait!"

He propped himself up with his hands and slowly got to his feet, a move that made the Empress stop and turn to look at him.

"I feel, incredible," Old Dao said, his back hunched as he stood there, a surge of newfound power coursing through him that felt extremely pleasant. He looked at his own palm with a touch of surprise.

He tested it, and suddenly punched the ground.

The granite floor shattered easily under his blow.

The Empress’s face showed delight, "If I remember correctly, you were a Speed Element superpower!"

"Yes!" Old Dao waved his wind-bringing fist, the word surprised wasn’t enough to describe the ecstatic expression on his face as if he were about to go mad with joy.

Things were also much as Lu Chen had anticipated; Ling Ye’s blood did indeed have the same effect as those Evolution Potions.

The two doctors who thought this was a fluke were ecstatic, their little lives were spared, and both of them looked at Ling Ye with fervent eyes.

The man who had been injected with the medicine alongside Old Dao also regained consciousness at this time. When he had fallen head down just before, his face had been cut by the sharp edges of the granite.

Now, looking at him, his face was intact aside from some traces of blood.

The Heretics who noticed this started cheering so excitedly that it almost pierced Su Mo’s eardrums.

"The door to the new world is about to be opened!"
