Chapter 357 - 356: Bath Center
Chapter 357: Chapter 356: Bath Center
"This is Holy Water, please take a bath, Angel Envoys,"
Zhao Changsheng was astonished by their luxurious display. She squatted by the pool, dipped her hand in the water, and remarked, "Wow, Momo, it’s really a hot spring."
Suppressing a laugh, Su Mo recalled the so-called cult palace... Reconsidered, it was actually a hot spring bath center in the mountains before it was transformed.
It was unclear how it remained uncontaminated; indeed, it was quite rare.
The three of them had not yet entered the water when the three women behind them exchanged a look, stood up from the tile, and approached to undress them.
Feeling a hand reaching from behind, Su Mo immediately grabbed it, raising an eyebrow, "We can undress ourselves."
"Of course," they stepped back to the side again.
Looking around, Su Mo noticed bath towels stacked in the grooves beside the tiles and distributed one to each person.
She shrugged off her dirty clothes, threw them on the floor, wrapped herself in a bath towel, tested the water temperature with her foot, and then stepped into the hot spring pool.
Jiang Yulian, standing by the pool and seeing the other two already in the water, hesitated for a moment before she too stripped, wrapped herself in a bath towel, and joined them in the hot spring pool.
The three attending women then approached again, each holding a small wooden bucket along with a towel and a brush.
Glancing at them, Su Mo understood what they were about to do; it was the full-service wash and care experience.
"Bathing in this Holy Water is indeed blissful," Zhao Changsheng lay on the edge of the tiles, enjoying the back massage from the women.
She utterly relished the experience, and Su Mo did find it very comforting. She gave a wink to the woman massaging her hand and softly asked, "Have you always worked here?"
"Work?" The woman’s face twisted for a moment before she firmly shook her head, "No, this isn’t work. This is our highest tribute to God. Serving the Angel Envoys with Holy Water, who grant us protection, is our duty as Guardians."
Well... there were no normal people here.
Su Mo realized she wouldn’t get any useful information from her.
Even after their bath was complete, the pampering didn’t end; they lay on soft chairs as people attended to their nails and hair.
Su Mo almost felt like she was preparing to meet the Prime Minister. Was their Empress so obsessed with cleanliness that they had to be so purified?
By the time the three of them were entirely attended to, nearly two hours had passed.
During this time, Su Mo even took a nap, then changed into the clothes prepared for them: a black vest worn underneath, a pure black leather biker jacket on top, and black cargo pants with a golden angel pattern that looked rather eerie on the legs.
The three were dressed uniformly and even had a cross necklace added around their necks.
Su Mo’s hair was newly tied up high with a cherry hair tie. She examined the silver cross closely. It was engraved with extremely fine symbols and letters.
"It’s time to leave, Angel Envoys," the three serving women approached the door, knelt on the tiles once again.
Before leaving, Su Mo dunked her dirty fur coat into the hot spring water for a quick wash, shook off the water, and draped it over herself. They might not fear the cold, but she did.
The outside hadn’t welcomed spring yet, and morning temperatures wouldn’t be that high.
Jiang Yulian and Zhao Changsheng followed suit, washing their coats clean, shaking off the water, and wearing them as they walked out one after the other.
Stepping out into the steamy mist, the tattooed woman waiting outside was very satisfied with their radical transformation.
Lu Chen and Li Qian, two burly men, had gotten ready early and were already waiting by the door.
Both wore the same black outfits as the women, and had matching cross necklaces at their necks. Su Mo noticed Lu Chen no longer had fringe on his forehead; all of his hair was combed back in a slick style, his silver strands clinging to his scalp. His deep blue eyes, profound enough to draw one into the abyss, were fully visible. The neckline of his tank top perfectly showcased his delicate collarbone, and beneath it one could vaguely see his muscular physique, ripe with explosive power.
Su Mo’s first reaction was to swallow her saliva, her eyes nearly glued to the seductive bob of his Adam’s apple and unable to look away.
This man, after a bit of grooming, had suddenly become so wild!
"What are you looking at?" The man pinched Su Mo’s face, bringing her back to her senses, his eyes full of teasing.
Su Mo snapped out of it and slapped his hand away, "Your outfit, it’s quite fitting for you to be a leader of a..."
She paused, quickly catching the word "cult" before it slipped out, "leader of the Angel Envoys."
Lu Chen guessed what she was about to say and lightly flicked her forehead with his finger.
Zhao Changsheng and Jiang Yulian had some difficulty adjusting to their drastically changed appearances.
Especially Zhao Changsheng. Li Qian had always presented himself with a gentle, modest demeanor. But now, without his glasses, and his slightly longer hair all slicked back with hair oil, his dark, narrow eyes became sharp and profound without the concealment of the frames. His already prominent nose laid down a solid foundation for his features.
He was actually very handsome, she had to admit. For a moment, she was captivated.
Between her and Li Qian, Zhao Changsheng knew that something she was unwilling to touch was slowly brewing.
It took her only a few seconds to turn her gaze away and stare straight at Su Mo.
Li Qian couldn’t help but notice her look. He was always adept at reading people’s hearts. His eyes narrowed slightly, the corners of his mouth lifted in a gentle curve, tinged with a trace of audacity born of his genuine nature.
As they sized each other up, the tattooed woman also scrutinized them; she took two steps towards them, "All right, Angel Envoys, now all that’s left is to engrave the deity into your hearts. Only then will it be perfect."
She clutched the cross necklace at her neck in her hand, lifted her head toward the ceiling, with an overly excited demeanor.
Zhao Changsheng reflexively covered her chest with her hand, "An engraving too?"
"Let the Empress inscribe the name of the deity, and you will be blessed for life," said the tattooed woman, leading the way, "Now, come with us to meet the Empress."
The group exchanged looks and then followed her slowly.
Li Qian watched the tattooed woman’s retreating figure and asked tentatively, "What is the name of the deity we are to worship?"
As soon as he finished asking, the woman immediately turned her head and sternly warned him, "We do not have the right to utter its name directly; we can only pray to it in our hearts."
Li Qian didn’t expect such a strong reaction from her, so he tucked his question away and apologized softly, "I was impolite."
He was very courteous, and the woman did not trouble him further, but there was no conversation among them on the way.
Noises of festivity could be heard from ahead. From a distance, Su Mo could hear it, like a crowd gathering.
And indeed, that was the case—a grand hall resplendent with gold and glitter.
When Su Mo looked again, the initial awe had vanished; the thought that this place might once have been a luxurious bathhouse struck her as absurdly funny.
