Chapter 345: Chapter 344: Preparations Before Departure

Su Mo sat aside, and seeing that he had stabilized, she breathed a sigh of relief. Then she frowned and said, "What should we do about this situation now? We still have to go out tonight.."

Before she could finish her sentence, a burly man came over to deliver a message from outside the foyer, arriving almost at the same time as she spoke.

Lu Chen went to open the door, exchanged a few words, then returned with a furrowed brow.

Su Mo, of course, heard what they said and had a bad premonition, "The banquet is canceled, they’re coming over to get the oil tonight and then they’ll let us leave tomorrow?"

"That’s right," Lu Chen came back and sat down.

Su Mo: "Although that thing should originally belong to them, I always feel like something is off about doing this at night, especially since we have offended that pair of brothers to death."

Especially the way Li Yun looked at her, Su Mo knew in her heart that this man definitely wanted to kill her.

"With things as they are now, there’s no need to keep Ling Ye with Ding Yan first. Since we can’t take the shortcut, I’ll go and bring him back," Su Mo stood up, ready to head out.

Lu Chen grabbed her arm, "I’ll go."

After he left, Su Mo paced back and forth in the room, thinking about what to do in the night.

Jiang Yulian looked at them and said with worry, "What shortcut are you talking about?"

Zhao Changsheng, after confirming that Li Qian’s nose was better, threw the towel into the basin full of bloodstains and irritably crossed his legs, "Originally, we planned to stir up internal conflicts among Li Yun’s people and escape in the chaos, but unexpectedly, these people are quite loyal."

Li Qian, rubbing his sore temples, lying flat on the couch, said in a heavy voice, "I won’t recover for another three to five days."

In the past few days, his spiritual power had suffered severe blows consecutively, and even strong individuals would struggle.

While contemplating, Su Mo went to the dining table, brewed several cups of Jasmine Tea, and brought them to the coffee table, "Drink some."

"So what you’re saying is, the Governor doesn’t plan to let us go?" Jiang Yulian’s first concern was her child, and her face showed her worry.

Su Mo glanced outside at the sky, which was already in the late afternoon, with nightfall approaching quickly.

A moment of inspiration struck her and she suddenly opened the System Bag, staring at the plate of glutinous rice lotus seed balls, which weren’t particularly appealing.

Attract zombie hatred points...

Her eyes lit up, "Changsheng, take care of Li Qian and Zhuoyang for me, Aunt Jiang, help me cook."

"Cook what?" Jiang Yulian, without hesitation, handed her child over to a bewildered Zhao Changsheng and went to help.

"No, I don’t know how to take care of kids either," Zhao Changsheng held the child motionless, but she didn’t throw him away just because he was a boy.

Seeing that everyone had gone into the kitchen, Zhao Changsheng resigned herself to the situation, stiffly shook her hand, and the bundled up Jiang Zhuoyang didn’t cry. She actually became interested in teasing the child, occasionally poking his soft belly flesh through his clothes.

Li Qian propped himself up from the couch. As Su Mo turned her head to look at them, they seemed, inexplicably, somewhat harmonious.

Su Mo turned her gaze, certain of some things in her mind.

Her pitiful points, after the upgrade, were almost depleted, having only exchanged for some vegetables. She planned to first use the kitchen’s stainless steel pot to cook a few dishes.

Lu Chen, who had left the house, went straight to the door of Mu Rou and the others. Inside, there was an argument, and it seemed to be growing louder.

He knocked on the door, and the commotion inside abruptly stopped.

The person who opened the door was a student, who, upon seeing Lu Chen, stepped aside without a word and invited him in.

The quarrel inside involved He Fei and Mu Rou. Lu Chen glanced around the room and asked in a calm voice, "Where’s Ling Ye?"

Ding Yan, who was sitting on the sofa with a headache from the noise, walked to the bedroom door on the first floor, opened it, and pointed inside, "In here. I don’t know what’s wrong with this kid; he’s sleeping like the dead."

Lu Chen entered the room, tried to keep his movements quiet as he picked up the child, gave Ding Yan a slight nod, and then prepared to leave.

Behind him, Mu Rou called out to him weakly, "Mr. Lu."

Lu Chen stopped in his tracks, waiting for her to continue.

"I want to ask you, if we take those ordinary students and escape the epidemic prevention zone, do they have a chance to survive?"

Lu Chen responded indifferently, "No."

Those two crisp words weighed heavily on He Fei’s heart.

"But if we don’t leave, how can we ensure that they won’t turn on our companions?" He Fei paced back and forth in the room, agitated. Many of the superpower users were also crowded inside.

As if he had thought of something, he quickly walked up to Lu Chen, his voice filled with hope, "I remember you’re planning to leave. How about we travel together?"

Lu Chen, hearing this proposal, showed no expression on his face, simply shifting Ling Ye into a more comfortable position in his arms, and said flatly, "On what grounds?"

He Fei’s words sounded rather presumptuous to his companions.

Mu Rou even said to He Fei, "Are those ordinary people really that important to you? Don’t forget how they’ve betrayed us time and time again!"

For a moment, the expressions of the people around subtly changed, except for He Fei. Deep down, none of them harbored much goodwill towards those ordinary students; being able to protect their own lives was already a blessing.

Lu Chen regarded Mu Rou, whose face had been disfigured, with a newfound respect and uttered another harsh cold word that wasn’t pleasant to hear, "Live with your tail between your legs."

Without caring about how He Fei and the others felt, the man turned and left the hall.

Behind He Fei were the persuasions of many student superpower users. They still had food and shelter on this territory, so there was no need to offend others for an ordinary student. As long as the people in the epidemic prevention zone weren’t killing their own, everything was negotiable.

"Make a decision, He Fei."

"Right, we have to live for ourselves."

"Haven’t you seen how miserably Niu Mang and the others died?"

He Fei, head bowed and silent in the room, finally spoke with difficulty and made a decision, "From now on... let’s live well in the epidemic prevention zone. As long as they don’t harm the students, we won’t interfere."

Mu Rou let out a sigh of relief. This was indeed her own plan; they couldn’t just watch their former classmates die one by one. This outcome was the best they could hope for.

When Lu Chen returned with Ling Ye in his arms, Su Mo had already prepared three vegetarian dishes, all cooked in an ordinary pot, and the meager supply of gas was completely depleted after she cooked several dishes of meat.

The plate of meatballs that attracted zombies was placed in the center of the dining table, and it was also the ugliest dish.

"Why did you make so much food?" asked Lu Chen as he set the child down on the sofa and approached the table.

Su Mo glanced at the darkened sky outside, gauging the time, and pointed at the meatballs, "They’re coming tonight, and it’s only right that we offer them a meal. This might buy us some time outside."

"Don’t forget the ’hint,’" Lu Chen said, tapping his temple.

Su Mo took his hand and looked at the array of dishes on the table. Her round eyes twinkled with a cold glint as she smiled, "We have to be alive to tell anyone, after all."
