The Chef Rules the Last Days -
Chapter 344 - 343: Admission
Chapter 344: Chapter 343: Admission
Watching the hideous state of his wife and daughter, their dark red, decaying skin exposed to the sunlight, they no longer looked human, but rather like monsters.
Li Yun had been silent for a long time. His deep gaze met Su Mo’s, and his gloved hands trembled slightly as a surge of spiritual power rushed towards her.
Li Yun knew who was behind this. Su Mo, who had silently slipped past his detection of spiritual power, was the source of all this!
The spiritual threads that filled the sky were invisible to Su Mo, but Li Qian could see them clearly. Thinking she would get hurt, he immediately activated his superpower and tried to deflect the threads, shouting, "Get out of the way!"
However, the difference between their levels was indeed significant. Li Qian used all his strength only for it to be twisted back upon himself. His brain suffered another severe blow. Zhao Changsheng was startled and promptly supported Li Qian’s falling body, exclaiming, "Li Qian!"
The invisible spiritual power was naturally felt by Lu Chen. The space in front of him distorted, intercepting most of the lethal force.
But still, a few threads reached Su Mo. She couldn’t see or feel them, yet noticing Li Qian’s fall and Lu Chen’s readiness, she understood that Li Yun was causing trouble.
Instantly, Su Mo took out her Tang Blade, ready to fight at any moment.
Li Yun’s spiritual power clung to Su Mo’s neck, yet it couldn’t penetrate her skin a bit further, and he was utterly unable to inflict the slightest damage on her with his spiritual power.
This woman, she was more cunning than he had imagined.
Lu Chen’s aura was fully unleashed, causing the people around him to avoid his edge. The Cold Ice Barbs beneath his feet spread rapidly towards Li Yun, under their master’s control.
Next to him, Li Ming quickly retreated, supporting his brother as they moved back.
With both sides looking ready for battle, many ordinary people screamed and hid back in their houses, daring only to peek out through their small windows.
In front of the building adorned with plastic roses, two groups of superpower users facing off were left behind; without a doubt, He Fei stood with Su Mo’s side.
Knowing that they cruelly fed humans to zombies and disregarded life, He Fei, however disillusioned he was with those students, refused to swallow this indignation.
The Cold Ice Barbs from Lu Chen stopped precisely at the tip of Li Yun’s shoe. The man’s face was tense as he protected Su Mo behind him, his gaze icy cold.
The oppressive presence made Li Ming feel uncomfortable, as he was only a Level 4 superpower user having to support his physically unwell brother, which was indeed a challenge for him.
"Brother, don’t be impulsive," Li Ming whispered into Li Yun’s ear while his own expression was tense, and his surrounding supporters were also constantly vigilant. Their faces revealed conflict and sadness, but Su Mo alone saw no disappointment or sense of betrayal.
She knew their cunning plan would likely fall through.
Li Yun’s fist under his thick cloak was clenched tightly, the veins on his forehead nearly bursting. He looked down, his gaze somber as he stared at the Cold Ice for a moment before slowly lifting his head. His fingertips traced out threads that wrapped around the fallen zombie mother and child on the ground. A flash of pain crossed his dark eyes, and then, without hesitation, he severed the heads of the two zombies.
Ending the lives of his own wife and child by his hand, he experienced that pain.
It was as if his heart had been torn into two halves, and its insides were already rotten,
"Are you satisfied with this action?"
As he asked, his supporters around him showed exceptional respect, shouting in unison,
"We support the Governor!"
Knowing that there wouldn’t be any waves to stir this time, Su Mo looked toward Li Qian with some concern, sighing in her heart. She had underestimated the sincerity of these people.
"So you admit to using our students to feed the zombies!" He Fei was utterly furious, and the students behind him were filled with righteous indignation.
Li Yun ignored He Fei, because the people beside him already spontaneously shielded him at the forefront, releasing the oppressive presence unique to superpower users, their intent to protect clear and evident.
Li Yun pushed Li Ming away, his trembling legs slowly carrying him over to the dead zombies. With each step, he moved with extreme heaviness. He slowly bent down, his hands clad in black gloves shaking as he pieced the two severed heads back onto the bodies.
Like a lover, he gently caressed the zombies’ brows and eyes, tidying the messy, dry hair that he had once carefully groomed. His eyes reddened as he tenderly and lovingly whispered, "Goodnight."
Then, he bent down to plant a kiss on the dirtied foreheads of his wife and daughter.
This scene silenced everyone involved in the standoff, all feeling the heavy and mournful atmosphere that settled in the air.
There was no longer a smile on Su Mo’s face; her eyes grew faint. If he hadn’t targeted them, she certainly wouldn’t have interfered, but in this world, there are no "ifs."
Li Ming stood beside Li Yun, his expression angry and distraught. Murderous intent flashed in his eyes when he looked at He Fei, "If you don’t want to stay, you can leave anytime! You have no right to so much as fart on epidemic prevention zone territory!"
Mu Rou looked towards Su Mo, catching her gaze and quickly grabbed He Fei, who was about to argue again, and said hoarsely, "Do not act rashly. Having these two zombie bodies, consider the matter resolved."
All she wanted was to prevent the students from being eaten, not to completely fall out.
He Fei clenched his fists, repressing his anger, knowing that they had to stop there for now. He took a deep breath and walked away quickly.
As they withdrew, Li Yun ordered the bodies to be packed up, supported by Li Ming as he approached Lu Chen, "Clever strategy."
He praised him like that, his tone mocking yet filled with endless malice.
Lu Chen showed little emotion, simply replying, "Flattering."
Li Yun then looked deeply at Su Mo one more time until his view was completely blocked by Lu Chen, then turned with the bodies and left.
As the crowd dispersed, the two quickly rushed to Li Qian’s side. At that moment, Zhao Changsheng was kneeling on the ground, frantically trying to stop his nosebleed.
Lu Chen took out a towel, covered his nose, and hoisted him up, "We’ll talk about it back home."
The four hurried back to the house. Jiang Yulian was holding a child and sitting on the sofa. Seeing the blood on Li Qian’s chest, she stood up in alarm and made room, "Li, come here and lie down."
He was laid on the sofa, and Jiang Yulian brought a basin over to the coffee table, conjuring a basin full of water. The towel covering Li Qian’s nose was now stained red with a large patch. Zhao Changsheng lifted the towel, dipped his hand into the basin, rubbed it, and then covered it back up.
Li Qian watched her sequence of actions, his heartbeat erratic, yet he didn’t show it on his face. He cooperated fully, lifting his hand and turning his face, and the nosebleed finally barely stopped.
At one point, he even amusingly thought that bleeding a little longer might be okay.
Zhao Changsheng, seeing him zoning out while his nose bled, thought something was wrong and even asked Lu Chen to check his pupils.
He stopped Lu Chen’s approaching hand with a slight shake of his head, "I’m fine."
