When Su Mo and Lu Chen first took Ling Ye to He Fei’s place, they noticed that the streets outside were deserted, leaving only Ding Yan and two female teachers in the house.

All superpower users, including He Fei, had rushed to the fields to help, where a fight had reportedly broken out.

Su Mo listened to Ding Yan’s explanation and a look of realization flashed in her eyes. She asked Lu Chen to place the child on the couch in their room, then put on a smiling face and explained, "We’re going to have a farewell dinner tonight, and we’d appreciate if you could take care of the child for us."

"Of course," Ding Yan walked over, looked at the child, and then whispered softly, "He’s sound asleep."

Su Mo’s smile stiffened momentarily before she continued, "There has been an accident with his body. You just need to ensure his safety, and if anyone comes looking for him, tell them you haven’t seen him."

Seeing Su Mo’s expression turn solemn, Ding Yan immediately replied, "Don’t worry, you’ve helped us so many times, I will definitely take good care of the child."

After entrusting the child to Ding Yan, the two left. Lu Chen suddenly said, "We need to go back first."

Su Mo looked up at him, "Aren’t you going to check out the situation there? Given He Fei and the others’ nature, they’re bound to bring up Li Yun hiding zombies."

The man glanced at her and ruffled the top of her hair, "We’ll go, but let’s wait a bit, we might have some shortcuts."

Su Mo’s mind made a quick turn, and she soon cracked a smile, clearly guessing what Lu Chen was planning.

Lu Chen returned to their own small western-style house where Li Qian and Zhao Changsheng were packing their luggage and bringing it downstairs. Surprised to see the two return so soon, they remarked, "That was quick."

Lu Chen collected their items into Space and issued a mission. In essence, the situation was heated, and Li Ming and Li Yun were sure to rush over due to the argument. Zhao Changsheng and Li Qian needed to hurry and get those two zombies out, exposing them to everyone’s sight.

That way, Li Yun and Li Ming would indeed have their hands full for a while.

The worst situation Su Mo could foresee was infighting. Unless Li Yun personally killed his own wife and child, if this matter blew up and couldn’t be calmed down, the Governor’s position might be at risk.

Li Qian tested his spiritual power, having recovered most of it, and nodded to Lu Chen, "Don’t worry, I know what to do."

The two set off once more.

Lu Chen’s pace was unhurried, and Su Mo could vaguely hear the arguing coming from the unfinished building.

Upon arriving at the site, they saw that a large portion of the field had been destroyed, and a boy covered in soil with a swollen face was lying on the ground.

On one side were people from the epidemic prevention zone, and on the other were He Fei’s people, arguing fiercely, barely short of coming to blows.

"I didn’t, I really saw him run away, I truly did," the boy on the ground, holding his face, cried out, refusing to say anything else.

He Fei grabbed Mu Rou’s hand as she tried to hit someone again, his eyes filled with hesitation, "Could it be... a mistake?"

"A mistake?" Mu Rou pulled away, pointed at the man’s head on the ground, and spoke in a hoarse, restrained voice, "They work in the fields every day, and I want to ask you people from the epidemic prevention zone, what do these students eat every day?"

The physically imposing men looked at each other, and someone spoke up, "One meal a day, a little porridge, a flatbread."

"Then where did the breadcrumbs I found under his mat come from? Are you so kind as to give our students extra food every night? You wouldn’t even eat bread like that yourself, would you?" Mu Rou’s words hit the nail on the head.

The student lying on the ground immediately panicked, and He Fei, who was no fool, certainly noticed something was off and realized there was something fishy going on.

He immediately yelled at the student on the ground, "If you don’t tell the truth, leaving you in the epidemic prevention zone won’t stop me from getting to you."

Su Mo and Lu Chen stood among the crowd of onlookers, listening to their conversation with a look of watching a drama unfold.

Mu Rou crouched down in front of the student and said in a fierce voice, "I’m asking you one more time, where did the missing person go?"

The oppressive aura emanating from her nearly suffocated the male student, who was about to spill the truth.

A wave of even more advanced spiritual power surged forward, pressing down on Mu Rou, and she immediately collapsed onto the ground, her head splitting with pain.

Sensing that powerful force, Su Mo turned her head to see Li Yun being supported by Li Ming as he walked over from a distance.

"Governor."

The people from the epidemic prevention zone spontaneously cleared a path, allowing Li Yun to walk up to Mu Rou’s side, with He Fei blocking in front of Mu Rou, "What does this mean?"

Li Yun glanced down at the half-dead student lying there, saying in a mild tone, "Mr. He, causing trouble on my turf, isn’t that inappropriate?"

He Fei felt somewhat suffocated by the subtle pressure emanating from the man in front of him but still stood firmly in front of Mu Rou, righteously stating, "We have a missing student, and Lady Mu says you took her. You murdered someone and hid the body, Mr. Li, don’t you think you owe me an explanation?"

Upon hearing this, Li Ming hooked his brother toward himself, spitting the chewing gum he was still chewing onto the ground, "Pah, why would my brother bother killing you ordinary folks? Looking for abuse?"

In no time, many started whispering amongst themselves, thinking how absurd it was for a superpower user to plot to kill an ordinary person.

"Lady Mu, perhaps you’d like to explain the reason for your false accusation? If you can’t, just to be safe, we might need to take some special measures," Li Yun seemed completely unruffled, even adjusting his thick cloak because of the strong wind, displaying a presence that few could match.

Li Yun’s conduct in the epidemic prevention zone was regarded as wise and magnanimous by everyone, clearly a cut above He Fei and his group.

He Fei crouched beside Mu Rou, soothingly patting her back, "If there’s evidence, bring it out, if not, I’ll still protect you."

Mu Rou clutched at her neck with both hands, her expression strange and pained. She opened her mouth repeatedly but couldn’t utter a sound, no matter how hard she tried.

The murmurs around grew louder, with many pointing and discussing about He Fei and his group.

Mu Rou raised her head and searched the crowd until her gaze found Su Mo, to whom she couldn’t help but send a look of entreaty.

Standing in the crowd, Su Mo tugged at Lu Chen beside her and whispered, "Is she being controlled by Li Yun?"

"No choice right now, let’s wait," Lu Chen had no intention of stepping forward for her, his face indifferent as he listened to the ceaseless sighing around him.

Su Mo understood that he was waiting for Li Qian to make a move. If they broke into Li Yun’s residence to rescue the person, Li Yun would definitely find out. What they needed now, was just such a moment.
