Su Mo’s heart skipped a beat, had she been discovered?

She abruptly turned her head, looking in the direction of the unfinished building.

The shouting of the burly men was not at her, but rather at a woman shrouded in darkness on the path below.

Su Mo immediately realized who it was.

Mu Rou?

As the indoor chair was moved, someone walked towards the window, Su Mo quickly climbed down and hid in a small cluster of bushes, quietly watching outside.

"It’s already late at night, Lady Mu, why are you still outside so late?"

At the window, Li Yun silently stared at Mu Rou, his gaze containing a hint of scrutiny.

"Couldn’t sleep, just taking a walk," Mu Rou said without changing her expression, "it’s quite noisy by the unfinished building."

Li Yun was silent for a while, countless spiritual powers entangled around her, and after a long pause, he said, "It’s late, go back and rest early."

Mu Rou nodded and slowly walked back to the house where she and her companions stayed.

As the window was closed, Su Mo finally breathed a sigh of relief, she looked upstairs, and the light at the window had been extinguished, needless to say, tonight’s conversation was over.

She emerged from the bushes, groping in the dark, planning to sneak back first.

As she passed a house, Mu Rou’s voice gently drifted out, "Su Mo."

Su Mo’s gaze sharpened, and she turned to look at the half-open villa next to her, hearing footsteps behind her, as several patrolling burly men came over, she immediately walked up to the foyer, opened the door, and entered the house.

In the pitch-dark room, only Mu Rou sat quietly on the sofa.

She sat down on a sofa, "Not sleeping this late?"

"All the teachers are sleeping upstairs, I can’t sleep," Mu Rou said in a hoarse voice.

"Because of He Rong?" Su Mo remembered that He Rong hadn’t managed to catch the vehicle on time and suspected, inside, there was Mu Rou’s involvement.

"She was my friend for a whole four years," Mu Rou bowed her head, the sarcasm clear in her intact right eye, "I couldn’t bring myself to kill her, but I also didn’t want her alive."

So that scene had occurred.

"What are you wandering around the streets for?" Su Mo softly said.

"Like I said, I couldn’t sleep," Mu Rou raised her eyes, pointing at her temple, "I’m a bit unclear whether what I’m doing is right or wrong."

"Tonight, when I was wandering around there, his Aunt Mei brought back a body, though it was in a burlap sack, I’m not mistaken," Mu Rou said quietly, if it weren’t for her trying to get a closer look, coincidentally spotting Su Mo on the wall, and the soldiers soon walking by on patrol below.

She wouldn’t intentionally expose herself.

Su Mo’s heart skipped a beat, feeling that something was amiss. Could it be that some important person was hidden in the attic, and Li Yun thought she had discovered it and then proceeded to kill to silence her?

"Was the body brought into the house by Aunt Mei?"

"Yes."

"The epidemic prevention zone is full of healthy, living people, where did the body come from?" Su Mo became even more puzzled. The previous thought was immediately overturned; logically, anything killed in the attic would have been taken out of the house to be dealt with.

Why bring a dead body back?

Mu Rou nodded, watching as she left.

Su Mo quietly closed the door and tiptoed over, caught red-handed, she raised a smile, "Weren’t you...sleeping?"

"Where did you go?" the man lay back on the sofa, his deep blue eyes appearing cold to Su Mo.

She went over and tugged on his hand, whispering, "I went to Li Yun’s building, I went up and said that Li Qian and the others were still sleeping downstairs."

Although bearing a poker face, Lu Chen’s body compliantly let her pull him upstairs into the room.

After closing the bedroom door, Su Mo pulled him to sit at the edge of the bed, explaining, "I felt something odd about the attic, so I wanted to investigate it at night. You know Li Yun is a Level 5 Spiritual Ability User, if we went together, he might have noticed you."

Lu Chen looked down at her, his eyes void of emotion.

Su Mo, feeling unnerved under his gaze, hugged his arm and said placatingly, "If it were dangerous, you would have shown up earlier. I was bold because I had you to rely on."

A hint of warmth dissipated the chill from Lu Chen’s body.

Indeed, as Su Mo had said, knowing that the people in the epidemic prevention zone wouldn’t dare touch them for now, he had brazenly let her go.

"Your guess was quite accurate."

Su Mo smiled, then straightened her expression and said, "I heard some very strange things."

"Oh?" The man took off his shoes and lay back under the covers.

Seeing this, Su Mo changed her clothes and followed into bed, sharing everything she had overheard at Li Yun’s place.

From an initially expressionless face, Lu Chen’s expression gradually grew serious, "World Radio?"

"Yes, I only caught bits and pieces, but I’m sure it came from the radio. I’m not clear about who transmitted it as it was cut off," Su Mo rested her head on his arm, looking troubled,

"The target is very likely Ling Ye. Among those who have come to the epidemic prevention zone, we’re the only ones with a child. But I brought Ling Ye back myself. How did he become an experimental subject?"

A hand hidden under the covers clenched into a fist, Lu Chen spoke icily, "Lu Jin."

The room fell silent for a moment.

Su Mo thought of a possibility, "The defective medicine inside Ling Ye’s body...".

She looked up at Lu Chen, "Among all the test subjects, he’s the only one who survived and can control the host."

"But how did Lu Jin manage to control the World Radio?"

Lu Chen, staring at the ceiling, said sternly, "Someone’s helping him, they couldn’t have done it on their own."
