Chapter 334: Chapter 333: World Radio

"Broadcast a notice: An A-level escaped experiment subject from the Western Laboratory, satellite located within G City range, name: Ling Ye, age: ..., escapees: Su Mo, Lu Chen...contact channel..."

After the broadcast ended, Li Ming was slow to come back to reality. The surprise and astonishment that followed left him wondering, what kind of damned laboratory had these fugitives escaped from?

The Western...Laboratory...where is that?

Ling Ye...10 years old, an escaped experiment subject?

Li Ming suddenly remembered the boy, it seemed that since they arrived at the epidemic prevention zone, he had never seen that child.

Li Ming composed himself and quickly tuned the frequency to the private channel mentioned by the other party.

Soon, the line on the other side connected, broadcasting a magnetic and indifferent male voice, which upon close listening also carried a trace of malevolence.

"Found them?"

The other party started without asking who he was, or what he was doing—they just demanded the person.

Li Ming thought for a moment and then asked, "The person you’re looking for, named Ling Ye?"

After some static, the answer came, "Yes".

Li Ming described the physical features of Su Mo and the others. The man’s voice on the other side began to fluctuate, "I want them, you name your price".

Li Ming’s heart raced, feeling the gravity of the situation. He knew he must consult with Li Yun before making any decision, and calmly said, "Tomorrow night, I’ll tell you".

Having said that, he didn’t wait for the man on the other line to react, Li Ming hung up the radio transceiver. He grabbed the coat beside him and, taking advantage of the night, headed straight to Li Yun’s house.

At the same time, this short broadcast spread across the world.

Those hidden beneath the streets were beginning to mobilize.

The vast G City would soon become a battleground for zombies and pursuers.

Engrossed in cooking, Su Mo, and Lu Chen, who was researching the route to the Western Region, were completely unaware that they had become the latest sensation on the radio, coveted by all.

She focused on making several large plates of pumpkin and some Bok Choy among other Attribute vegetables, keeping some for herself and setting aside a few plates for Lu Chen for when they might need them.

Deep into the night, Su Mo sat beside Ling Ye’s bed, "He hasn’t eaten for a day now".

Li Qian walked into the room, his voice gentle, "You can make a hole in his stomach and inject the vegetable puree, just as Li Ming did".

Su Mo gave him a stern look and declined outright, "No, he’s still so young".

"If it’s not possible, then go to sleep. It’s useless for you to just sit here. I’ll look after him," Li Qian said with a smile, walking over to the bed to dim the bedside lamp.

Su Mo stood up and looked outside, "Is Lu Chen still out there?"

"Yes."

She went out and saw the man leaning on the couch, his brows furrowed, lost in thought.

"It’s late, let’s go to sleep," Su Mo said, taking the map out of his hands.

"Okay."

Now in the living room, only the two of them remained, as Jiang Yulian and Zhao Changsheng had already gone upstairs to sleep.

She took the man upstairs to wash up and then they both got into bed.

"Is it still far from here to the Western Region?" Su Mo asked softly, nestled in his arms.

She asked because Lu Chen and Li Qian had been discussing it outside for almost the entire night.

Lu Chen’s gaze intensified, "There are several paths. I’ve seen some of the boundary points on Li Ming’s map. They’re somewhat far from the epidemic prevention zone. With the zombie hordes’ sudden attacks, it’s not easy to say."

"Don’t worry," Su Mo rubbed against his chest, "we still have time."

"Hmm."

Before long, the prolonged breathing of the man echoed in her ears as Su Mo opened her eyes in the darkness.

She carefully slipped out of his embrace, her toes pressing against the plush carpet.

After putting on her jacket, she cautiously looked back to see that Lu Chen wasn’t woken by the noise, and then she quietly stepped out the door.

As the door closed, the man in the room opened his eyes and slowly sat up, propping himself up on the bedframe.

Once downstairs, Su Mo quickly ate a few bites of Bok Choy and tested out the fluffy barbs that formed in the palm of her hand before she melted into the night, heading straight for a small building adorned with plastic roses.

On the path, groups of armed men occasionally passed, looking for their way.

Su Mo carefully avoided all the patrolling men and appeared in front of the small building.

She slipped into the invisible green dome without alerting anyone inside.

To Su Mo’s surprise, a dim light still shone through the window of the building’s second floor. It was obvious someone was still awake despite the late hour.

Su Mo focused her attention and crept to the back of the small building, which faced the direction of the unfinished building—where ordinary students stayed, likely all asleep in the pitch dark at this hour.

Hooking the barbs into the wall, she used her arm strength to climb up silently.

Perched beneath the window, she heard the sound of conversation—it was Li Ming and Li Yun.

"Brother, what do you think about this matter?" Li Ming sat at the table, looking troubled.

"Although it’s a pity, we can’t keep these people. My secrets must not be revealed, and the frequency you’ve picked up is from the world radio," Li Yun adjusted the blanket on his legs and took a sip of tea, the steam gracefully curling past his face.

"Moreover, it’s not just zombies wreaking havoc in G City now," he put down the cup, his face showing a grave expression.

Li Ming: "A child that young is a test subject, and those people couldn’t tell at all, hiding it so deep."

Su Mo, clinging to the wall, felt a shock in her heart. If she hadn’t guessed wrong, this conversation was about them and Ling Ye. But Ling Ye a test subject? Where did that notion come from?

How could the person she had personally brought back to care for suddenly become someone else’s test subject in their mouths?

She pushed down the doubts in her heart and listened more carefully.

Aunt Mei’s voice was also mixed in between their conversation.

"Governor, the meat for today has been processed," she said.

"Slice it, and don’t forget to deliver it tomorrow," he ordered.

"Yes."

"They said any compensation would do?" Li Yun asked again.

"Yes, but the current issue is that we’ve lost guards at two points on the border. We only deployed four teams outside, so whether we can get out alive is still a question," Li Ming looked at Aunt Mei, now stepping back in blood-stained clothes, without any sign of surprise on his face.

After thinking for a while, Li Yun spoke up, "Pull all the men back."

Li Ming leaned closer, exaggerating, "Are you sure? Brother, this way we’ll completely lose control over G City. You know how scarce the resources are here."

"As long as the payment is generous enough, countless desperados will come over. Can you stop them?" Li Yun raised his eyes to look at him, "From the news you brought back, G City is now enveloped in wave after wave of zombie tides. These outsiders attracted by the radio, could indeed help me clear away the trouble."

Li Ming thought it over and realized it was indeed a good plan. Slapping his thigh, he decided, "Then I’ll call back the remaining men. Tomorrow, the radio station..."

"Who’s there!"

Outside, on the path, several men suddenly shouted out, interrupting the conversation inside.
