Chapter 311: Chapter 309: Gouging Out Eyeballs

Zhao Changsheng looked disgusted as she pointed at those people’s noses and mocked them mercilessly, "Look at your hands, did you even work before eating? Even a donkey knows to finish walking in the mill before it gets to eat."

Su Mo laughed out loud, slapping the table in front of Zhao Changsheng, "Sit down and eat, stop arguing with donkeys."

Her words always had an effect, and Zhao Changsheng found a stool and sat down angrily, her legs spread wide in a bold posture as she slurped up noodles.

Ling Ye looked at Zhao Changsheng with a hint of admiration in her eyes.

Li Qian, however, patted her leg under the table and said helplessly, "Girls should sit nicely while eating."

Her sitting posture was no different from that of a 180 kg man.

Zhao Changsheng slapped his hand away, shifting her stool to the side, "Talk is fine, but don’t touch."

Su Mo laughed heartily, surprised to see that her posture had indeed become more proper.

Not watching Zhao Changsheng for a while, Lu Chen tapped her head, his expression displeased, "The noodles will get cold."

Su Mo felt that he was jealous of Zhao Changsheng again, and obediently shifted her attention back to eating her instant noodles.

After Zhao Changsheng’s scolding, the dozen or so people didn’t dare to speak, their eyes filled with sullen resentment. He Fei kept his word; if there was nothing to eat, then there was nothing to eat. Throughout the entire day, he didn’t give them a bit of food.

Those who had worked, seeing their hungry eyes as fierce as wolves, quickly finished off the food.

In the afternoon, they returned to the oil refining process.

After leaving the cafeteria, Jiang Yulian went to take a nap with her child.

Li Qian’s spiritual power scanned the surroundings and underground again. He adjusted his glasses and said, "Although the entrance at the bathhouse has been blocked, the tunnel dug through is filled with zombies, but they shouldn’t be able to get out for now."

Lu Chen asked, "What about the door?"

Li Qian’s expression turned slightly grave, "There are even more there, I don’t know why."

"After we get the oil tomorrow, no matter what, we need to think of something. If the epidemic prevention zone doesn’t come, we can’t just sit here waiting to be overrun," Su Mo bit her lip, looking towards the five-meter-tall earthen wall with worry in her eyes.

...

Base B.

A slim figure swaying out of the base was picked up by a strikingly large and muscular zombie, slung over its shoulder as it headed toward City G.

"Don’t, leave," through its eyes, it seemed to gaze keenly at that mere five-meter earthen wall through some zombies’ eyes.

...

As night fell, the zombies beside the earthen wall became even more restless than during the day, while all the ordinary students slept in the dormitory buildings. All the superpower users gathered in the open space in front of the dormitory buildings, a fire pit in the middle, everyone sitting in a circle around it.

The reason was Li Qian detected zombie activity near the bathhouse again, although it had been temporarily sealed by superpowers, the sharp scratching of claws on the metal barrier could still faintly be heard.

That long nail scraping against the wall, not many people could stand it.

Li Qian sat on a wooden chair, his head half-bowed as he rubbed his temples, the continuous output of superpowers making his mind feel tightly wound, "Although the initial large hole was filled, there’s more than one zombie, the tunnels below are complicatedly intertwined, and it’s hard to guarantee when a new breach might appear."

"How much longer can we hold?" He Fei sat there, his hands tightening slightly on his knees, his face a ghastly pale.

"Hard to say, you might need to prepare to abandon the ordinary people," Li Qian put down his hand, shook his head, and sat upright.

The people looked at his face, which was utterly serious.

What he said was true.

They had perhaps truly reached the point of giving up.

"There are still over a hundred people here. Isn’t there any other way?" He Fei punched his sound left arm heavily on his shin, his eyes reddening.

"The epidemic prevention zone" Guo Hua had been very subdued lately, and he had blended into this group of superpower users, voicing his own opinion.

The three words seemed like a taboo for He Fei, but facing an entire building of students, he bent over, one hand on his shin, head hung low with an indistinct expression, "Even if I agree to their terms now, they won’t come to save us with such a huge crowd of zombies."

"They will come," Guo Hua sat there, a rifle stacked under his hat on his lap, looking up at the dark sky occasionally flickering with stars, his gaze filled with certainty.

Although to these people his words seemed merely comforting, Su Mo knew that if they could hold on for a few more days, someone would definitely come.

The topic was too heavy, and Ding Yan, an old man, found it somewhat hard to accept. He stood up and sighed, "Everyone should go to sleep earlier."

The crowd rose from their chairs. Upstairs, a sharp and tragic scream from a girl temporarily distracted them from their gloom, turning their emotions to slight panic.

He Fei instinctively asked Li Qian, "Are there zombies?"

Li Qian looked towards the residential dorm, where many students had already heard the noise and were running downstairs. He shook his head calmly, "No, it’s a person."

"Let’s go up and see," hearing this, He Fei, fearing trouble, hurriedly led people upstairs.

Seeing them hurrying up the stairs, Su Mo followed and said, "Then we should also go have a look."

The group slowly made their way upstairs.

People crowded around a room toward the interior of the second floor.

Seeing He Fei and his group, the surrounding people stepped aside to make way for them.

Su Mo saw the bloody scene inside.

The one involved was He Rong.

She lay askew on the dilapidated bed, her face towards the door, her left eye hollow, an abundance of blood flowing from the empty socket down her nose and splashing into blossoms on the floor.

Mu Rou stood against the wall, her half-intact face expressionless, holding a blood-stained dagger with a whitish eyeball speared on its tip, still connected to a string of blue nerves.

She had personally gouged out He Rong’s eyeball.

As if sensing the gasps from outside, she slightly turned her head, showing the grotesque other side of her face.

Many students stepped back in fright.

Su Mo wasn’t surprised; not seeking revenge wouldn’t be normal.

"He.. He Fei, Mu Rou gouged out one of He Rong’s eyeballs!" someone whispered behind him, their face filled with horror.

He Fei knew about the issues between the two, and gouging out one of He Rong’s eyeballs was not unjustified.

"Go and bandage her up, put her back in bed," He Fei called someone to bring over materials intended to stop He Rong’s bleeding first.

Mu Rou threw down the knife, along with the eyeball, beside He Rong.

"I know I was wrong! Why do you still treat me like this!" He Rong cried out screaming, her chest heaving as she moved forward, reaching for her own eyeball.
