The Chef Rules the Last Days -
Chapter 303 - 301: Refining Factory
Chapter 303: Chapter 301: Refining Factory
Li Qian opened the car door and looked back at the street, "They’re coming from behind too."
As soon as he finished speaking, a zombie that was running so fast its afterimage was almost invisible burst out from the corner of the street and took the lead. It was a zombie with a speed superpower.
Just as it was about to bite a student on the back of the neck, Su Mo disappeared from her spot, activated her superpowers to the fullest, and rushed over to grab the zombie by its waist, intercepting it.
She held it tight and slammed it against the wall, kneed it hard in the belly, and grabbed its claw, which had a clear trajectory in her eyes, with one hand. The hand holding the Tang Blade did not hesitate to cut off its head and dug out the Crystal Stone.
Her movements were clean and without any hesitation.
The student she saved was stunned for a second and then did not even bother getting into the car. Instead, he rolled and crawled over the vehicle and sprinted forward, shouting in despair, "The zombies are coming! The zombies are here from behind! Run for it!"
"There are more behind us?!"
"What?!"
Many people turned to look back and finally panicked upon seeing the unending stream of zombies emerging from around the street corner.
They were now caught in a pincer attack by zombies from two directions!
No student clung to the car anymore; everyone began to run for their lives.
He Fei started the car in a rush and didn’t forget to lean out the window and shout, "Follow the car! Follow the car! Don’t get lost!"
"He Fei, let me in the car! My legs are giving out," He Rong, one of the few still desperately clinging to the side of the car, cried and sniveled pitifully.
He Fei’s heart softened, "Get in and squeeze in, but be careful not to crush Mu Rou."
"I won’t, I won’t!" He Rong immediately crawled into the car, sitting on the lap of an injured superpower user.
Five cars, filled with students, sped away urgently.
During just that brief moment, Su Mo had already killed at least five zombies that had burst out from behind.
Lu Chen glanced at the horde of zombies about to reach them and said coldly, "Get in the car!"
The group didn’t engage further in battle. Zhao Changsheng, after throwing one last Thunder Whip, climbed into the car. With everyone aboard, Lu Chen pressed the gas pedal, and the car sped past the running students, aligning with He Fei’s car.
None of them had expected the number of zombies that had fallen from the art museum to be so substantial.
A journey of two hours became extraordinarily difficult.
Su Mo glanced at the rear-view mirror. Some uninjured superpower users were running behind the car, occasionally throwing back superpowers to try to slow down the pursuing horde, but they were too weak. She said, "They’ll be caught up soon."
At Lu Chen’s side, He Fei suddenly stopped his car, waited for the students to run ahead, and then started it again with all windows wide open.
The superpower users inside the cars were also coming to the rescue.
Su Mo sighed deeply because she saw a few teachers, "The keys to the Refining Factory are still with that teacher; we really can’t afford for him to die."
"This is the first time I’ve seen such a reckless peace envoy," Zhao Changsheng couldn’t help but speak up, his expression as constipated as ever.
They needed to enter the Refining Factory to connect with the epidemic prevention zone through G city.
At that moment, Su Mo felt it might be better to turn back and fight their way out from B city.
The trouble, so much trouble!
Lu Chen frowned and slammed on the brakes, the car began to reverse, "Let’s give them support."
All they could do now was try their best to save others.
Li Qian rolled down the window, and countless threads shot out from him, entangling within the horde of zombies.
The heads of dozens of zombies running in the front row instantly exploded into a mist of blood.
Their bodies, still in motion, fell forward, covering several meters on the ground as they crashed down.
Upon witnessing Li Qian’s explosive group attack skill, Su Mo exclaimed, "That damage is way too high."
All team members were long-ranged fighters, only she was close combat, which made Su Mo envious enough to cry.
Lu Chen was no slouch either; he even showed off his driving skills, pulling a 180° turn with the front of the car facing the zombie horde and the rear towards the road, as he drove in reverse.
Not just that, his arm stretched out of the window, and a thick, five-meter radius of Cold Ice Barbs emerged in a circle from the ground, piercing through several zombies.
Su Mo’s envious gaze quickly shifted from Li Qian and turned to Lu Chen.
Even Jiang Yulian, who was sitting in the trunk, was occasionally able to shoot a few highly accurate Water Arrows through the wide-open window.
Zhao Changsheng’s Thunder Balls exploded killing a small group at once, limbs flying everywhere, but only killing one or two zombies, which led her to pucker her lips discontentedly and say, "Still, the Thunder Whip is more useful."
Lu Chen threw Su Mo a handgun and a box of bullets, which he had collected at the base just in case.
She took the gun and, not to be outdone, began firing at the zombie crowd. With the "system" cheat, she hit the bullseye with every shot, but higher-level ones could still dodge it.
The formidable superpowers of everyone in the vehicle bought these students quite a bit of time.
They, too, were running for their lives.
Even the pain of breathing so hard it felt like their throats were being torn apart didn’t slow them down.
The potential of humans is boundless.
Su Mo was so engrossed in shooting that the number of zombies only seemed to increase.
The occasional cries and shouts from the crowd attracted more and more zombies.
Li Qian’s spiritual power fluctuated for a moment, then he looked through the window toward a tall building not far away, "Someone is watching us."
Immediately, Lu Chen turned the car to face forward.
"There are only two kinds of people left in City G, those from the epidemic prevention zone and those from the school. Anyone who could run must have headed to City B’s base, given its proximity to this place," Su Mo analyzed quickly while shooting.
"Never mind them for now," Lu Chen said, his eyes fixed on the road ahead and occasionally asking Su Mo to open the bottle of Jasmine Tea for him to drink.
Inside the tall building.
Three burly men armed with guns and binoculars were observing the large troop about to pass below.
"Damn, these idiots are attracting so many zombies to the Refining Factory!"
"How are we supposed to take it down then! The leader with the superpower is really an idiot!"
"Let’s go back and consult the Governor. I’m afraid the area around the Refining Factory is going to be swarming with zombies."
...
After emptying several magazines, Su Mo twisted her sore wrist and her mind beeped again.
[System Upgrade Available]
A smile instantly spread across Su Mo’s face. Usually when a system reminds you to upgrade, it means good things are coming.
But it had been a long time coming, so she was due for an upgrade.
It just meant all her points would be wiped out again.
She didn’t rush as they were nearly at their destination.
The Refining Factory was bigger than expected, surrounded by very high walls topped with electrified barbed wire, and oil refining equipment towering over fifteen meters high stood within complex intertwining pathways.
"Can they operate such large machinery?" Su Mo couldn’t help but ask.
"Ding Yan should be able to," Li Qian responded.
About five or six minutes later, the vehicle stopped at the main gate. The students crowded at the tightly shut gate, and Ding Yan, being a teacher, was the first to run down from the car, shouting, "Make way, I’ll open the gate!".
