Chapter 289: Chapter 287: The Gate is Attacked

There was food, and Zhao Changsheng finally stopped laughing.

Ling Ye, standing nearby, pointed at Mu Rou and spoke up at the right moment, his little voice quite serious, "She said Sister Su is your younger sister."

"The very young kind," he paused, then added another sentence.

Lu Chen’s face instantly darkened.

For him, this was no different from saying indirectly that he was old.

His gaze towards Mu Rou also carried a hint of chill and coldness, "She is my wife."

With the confirmation from the person himself, Mu Rou’s head was almost buried into the ground, the faint presence of his authority bent her spine at several angles, her eyes reddened, she immediately stood up to apologize, "I’m truly sorry."

After she finished speaking, she covered her embarrassed face and ran towards her little sisters not far away.

Su Mo tugged at Lu Chen’s pants leg, her voice soft, "Okay, sit down and eat, I want to eat canned fish."

Her coquetry slightly warmed the cold aura surrounding the man.

Lu Chen sat down, opened two cans, and placed them in front of her, his expression still somewhat cold.

No matter how much Su Mo coaxed him, he kept a stern face and even said to her, "I’m nearly 30, I am indeed old."

Su Mo was torn between laughter and tears, but eventually, she whispered something in his ear and his expression finally improved.

"You said that?"

"I said that."

No one disturbed them, and the few quietly finished their meal.

Late at night, having eaten their fill, they returned to the second floor, where Jiang Yulian was unable to produce milk herself, and Ding Yan, to show his gratitude, actively delivered a can of unopened milk powder for them.

Back in front of the tent, Su Mo gave the Spiritual Power Crystal Stone she had obtained today to Li Qian, which was exactly what he needed at the moment.

After delivering the items, the two were invited to the office.

The reason was none other than the peculiar phenomena in the living area which had caught He Fei’s attention; they wanted to hear Lu Chen and Su Mo’s thoughts.

A few cups of hot water were brewed on the table, and the three teachers, along with He Fei, were waiting for them to share some insights.

After all, there were over three hundred lives here. Su Mo sat down, organized her thoughts briefly, and then discussed the result she had come up with Lu Chen in detail with them.

The faces of the teachers darkened progressively, followed by despair seeping into their gaze.

"Doesn’t that mean, once the snow stops, we won’t be able to stop these zombies? Is that what you mean?"

Ding Yan’s hands trembled while he held his water cup.

He Fei also said with an unpleasant expression, "Where should we move to next? The G city border..."

He only said half of the sentence, as though there were unspeakable difficulties. Su Mo did not pay much attention, only feeling that protecting so many ordinary people up to now was already very tough.

Lu Chen leaned back in his chair, pondered for a while, and spoke indifferently, "Three hundred ordinary people, and you only have over twenty superpower users, losing three already. No matter where you go, it’s a dead end."

"Just the speed of the Level 2 Zombies is too much for most people to survive," Su Mo lowered her gaze, exhaling softly.

Physical fitness was a very fatal point; zombies neither tire nor feel pain, something He Fei was all too aware of.

The dilemma before them was like an unsolvable scramble, driving them to despair.

"Are you suggesting we give up on these students?" A female teacher spoke, her anger palpable.

Su Mo’s expression cooled, and she sneered sarcastically, "I don’t know if you have a reading comprehension problem. You essentially have two choices: stay here to be gnawed by rats and zombie hordes, or go out and fight for a sliver of a chance."

Seeing that the atmosphere in the office was somewhat amiss, He Fei stood up and interrupted the female teacher who wanted to say more, "I’m discussing things with the teacher; you all should go to sleep early."

Su Mo couldn’t be bothered to argue with an elderly woman and just as she and Lu Chen were walking out side by side, the peaceful night was shattered by intense gunfire coming from the entrance of the campus.

The crowd inside the gym immediately started to panic.

After exchanging a look with Lu Chen, Su Mo quickly walked to the edge of the tent, planning to ask Li Qian what was happening. They saw Ling Ye guarding the entrance of the tent that emanated a green light.

He had leveled up.

"Momo, what happened?" Zhao Changsheng, fully armed, stepped out from the tent, followed by the worried gaze of Jiang Yulian.

Su Mo shook her head, signaling that she was also unaware.

From behind them, He Fei quickly gathered more than ten people. One of the spiritual superpower users shook his head after scouting, his expression filled with terror, "The level is too high, I don’t know what it is."

On the side, Lu Chen asked coldly, "Is it an incident at the school gate?"

The superpower user nodded, "Yes."

"This is bad, our comrades are still at the gate," He Fei’s expression became anxious. He loudly told the people behind him, "Get ready quickly, wear your clothes; we’re going over to check!"

At this moment, Ding Yan also hurried along with He Fei, not forgetting to turn back and say to Lu Chen and the others, "You all rest here first; I’m going to check on the students downstairs."

Su Mo looked out of the gym’s window at the South Building concealed in the darkness, where flashes of gunfire sporadically broke the night.

Now that Li Qian was not present, they were unclear about the situation on the other side. To be safe, Lu Chen pulled Su Mo to sit down in the tent without mentioning any intention to help.

Seeing the calmness of the two, Zhao Changsheng also sat cross-legged outside.

By their tent, over ten superpower users ran past, each of them holding oil which they poured on mops turned into makeshift torches.

The night was very dark, and those following He Fei into the snow raised dozens of torches, lighting up a large patch of snowfield.

Everyone anxiously waited at the entrance.

Then, another mishap occurred.

Inside the gym, multiple calls for help were heard on the first floor.

Su Mo instructed Zhao Changsheng to stay upstairs first to guard Jiang Yulian and watch over them, while she and Lu Chen went downstairs.

The first floor was already in chaos.

After a group of superpower users had just left, now three teachers were directing to move a dozen students with pained expressions into the equipment room.

Su Mo randomly grabbed a student passing by and asked, "What’s going on?"

"It’s too cold, a few students have developed a fever, and some have fainted. The teachers, fearing accidents, started moving people into the equipment room first," the student wriggled free from her grasp and apologized, "I can’t talk more; I still need to deliver medicine to them."

Su Mo frowned, "With troubles inside and out, this really is troublesome."

Upon hearing about isolation, a male student with an unusually red face and a black mole at the corner of his mouth quietly walked away and ran into the restroom, locking the door from the inside.

At the South Building, the gunfire gradually subsided.

But a heavily injured student ran back, "It’s the Polar Bear! There’s a Level 5 Polar Bear over there! We can’t hold them off any longer!"

The entire place was heard tumultuous, the disturbance was so great that even the teachers could hardly suppress it any longer.

"Level 5?!"

Upon hearing the news, Su Mo gasped in shock and immediately turned to look at Lu Chen.

He made a quick decision, "We’re going to assist."
