Chapter 287: Chapter 285: Wisdom

"Intelligence!?" Zhao Changsheng’s tone rose slightly as the Thunder surrounding him began to crackle loudly, "This could be dangerous."

After Li Qian acknowledged, Su Mo followed Lu Chen and charged over.

At the other staircase entrance, as the swarm of rats arrived, Zhao Changsheng immediately said, "I’ll block the rats, you find the zombie Momo talked about."

In Li Qian’s mind, his spiritual power spread out like a large net, quickly searching among the horde of zombies for the suspicious one.

He also allocated a thread of spiritual power to Zhao Changsheng, so he could sense immediately if anything happened to her.

Here, Su Mo became Lu Chen’s rear guard, her left foot kicked high to the zombie lunging at her, and her Tang Blade swung towards the neck of another coming from the side.

The stroke that should have hit, missed.

It struck Su Mo as odd—these zombies seemed capable of basic evasion.

Ducking to evade a claw strike, she grabbed the arm of the zombie before her and yanked it towards her, not giving it any chance to retreat, and cleaved its head with her blade.

A gray Crystal Stone fell out.

It was the first time she had seen such a Crystal Stone, and before she could react, she heard Lu Chen’s low shout from behind, "Su Mo!"

She snapped back to attention and looked up to see the female zombie, resembling Spiderman, crawling towards her on the ceiling, with her dry black hair hanging down and half her jaw torn open, exposing most of her teeth and the remnants of a black tongue.

The eyeless sockets rotted to a terrible sight—it was the one that had fled just now!

It was poised to leap down and attack!

Around Lu Chen, countless Crystals swiftly changed direction to form a solid shield around Su Mo, and as the zombie lunged at her, Su Mo kicked off the wall, leapt high over the creature, flipped, and drove her knee into its belly, forcing it down to the ground.

At the same time, Li Qian had also spotted it.

His spiritual power formed numerous threads that tangled around the brain of that zombie.

It went still for a second.

Su Mo raised her Tang Blade high, stabbing it into the creature’s head with the force of Lu Chen’s ice crystals.

The Crystal Stone that the Tang Blade carved out, she didn’t examine closely, tossing it into her System Bag before being pulled up by Lu Chen, as his Ice Blade shot past her ear and into the brain of another zombie behind her.

"Don’t get distracted," he pinched her palm, then let go.

She nodded, "Not anymore."

Together, they forced their way through to He Fei, who was surrounded by zombies, carving out a path.

Meanwhile, Zhao Changsheng, guarding the stairway entrance, began to struggle. With growls of zombies now coming from above and below, she yelled, "Momo! Hurry! They’re coming down!"

"Move!" Lu Chen roared, leading everyone towards the window.

Having broken through the encirclement, Li Qian used his spiritual power to strangle a few zombies before gripping the vines Mu Rou had grown and swinging out of the window to climb down.

Su Mo was carried on Lu Chen’s back as he swiftly grabbed the vines and leaped down from the window with nimble movements.

Everyone made it outside in time, dangling from the wall.

Several zombies crowding the window were pushed out and fell, quickly having their necks twisted by Li Qian, who had landed first in the snow.

In their ears was the howling and bone-chilling cold wind.

The sweat from vigorous activity turned ice cold in an instant due to the gust.

Upon reaching the snowy ground, without the planks, Lu Chen’s legs sank deep into the snow.

Su Mo offered to get down and walk on her own, but he refused, saying that with her short legs, she wouldn’t be able to stride at all.

She was speechless and turned to glance at Zhao Changsheng’s long legs with envy in her eyes.

Feeling Su Mo’s gaze, Zhao Changsheng immediately sent a flirtatious wink her way.

Among the group, it seemed that only Su Mo was a little dwarf over one meter sixty.

They had all moved some distance away from the dormitory building, and clusters of rats were falling from the window into the snow.

Being of a lighter build, they were actually able to move freely through the snow, occasionally leaping up, hopping before submerging into the snowdrifts with astonishing speed.

An Earth Element Superpower User immediately condensed a dirt wall, but to no avail due to its small size—it could not stop them at all.

"Lu Chen! Put me down! Behind us!" Su Mo noticed their speed and immediately started pounding on the man’s back.

He didn’t stop, but took out a bottle of Jasmine Tea with one hand and gulped down a few mouthfuls. Around him, the fall of snowflakes began to slow, and the thick snow on the ground started to tremble as everyone watched the scene unfold.

Formed of snowflakes, an ice wall emerged like a giant curtain in the air, blocking the rats’ advance.

The formidable power of a Level 5 Superpower User was fully displayed.

Su Mo keenly sensed Lu Chen’s face turning pale and shouted, "Move faster, the wall won’t hold for long!"

Everyone quickened their pace, desperately heading towards the barricade.

Seeing Lu Chen take another sip of Jasmine Tea, his complexion easing, she slightly relaxed her worried heart.

At the edge of the barricade, the group made their way through a hole. Several superpower users filled the well with soil and metal to block the sewerage leading to the gym, then patched up the hole.

The ice wall before the dormitory building collapsed in an instant.

Lu Chen continued to form swathes of Ice Blades on top of the thick barricade. His superpower was exhausted once again, but fortunately, they had safely returned.

Su Mo got off him and tiptoed to brush away the few strands of wet hair stuck to his forehead, feeling a pang of heartache.

The students inside the gym burst with joy upon seeing their return, running to the door to welcome them.

But there was no joy of a narrow escape on He Fei’s face. As the group entered the gym, and as people came up to offer warmth and concern, He Fei cut them off. Without time to explain, he led them straight to the gym’s bathroom.

"Putting on airs,"

His soft murmur was caught by Su Mo. She turned to look and saw a skinny boy with a black mole at the corner of his mouth, his complexion purplish from the cold.

Realizing she was looking at him, the boy sulkily closed his mouth and disappeared into the crowd.

Su Mo withdrew her gaze, safe and sound. Ding Yan rubbed his hands together excitedly, looking at Lu Chen with anticipation in his eyes.

The man said softly, "Let’s go up and talk."

"Alright, alright, alright,"

Ding Yan said "alright" three times and followed him up to the second floor.

The space here was wide open with few people. Lu Chen waved his hand and dumped all the items brought back from the dormitory.

They took up a significant amount of space—mostly bedding and mattresses.

Exactly the items they desperately needed offline.

"Thank you so much!" Ding Yan kept thanking him, and the two teachers following behind him bowed their thanks as well.

Li Qian helped them up and said warmly, "This is not the time for thanks. All the toilets in the gym must be sealed off. We found a lot of mutant rats in the sewer pipes of that dormitory building."

"What!" Ding Yan’s face instantly lost color.

"But He Fei has already taken people to block it. There shouldn’t be any problem," Su Mo said, comforting him.
