Chapter 282: Chapter 280: Consulting

Ding Yan led them into the arena, where several students had spread blankets on the ground. He pointed at the blankets, "You can stay here for now, this is all we can offer under the circumstances."

"Thank you."

Su Mo and Lu Chen expressed their thanks one after another.

He didn’t mind their gratitude and waved his hand dismissively. They shook the water off their clothes and sat down on the blankets.

After a brief chat with them, Ding Yan was called away by a somber-looking He Fei and a few other teachers.

After sitting down, Li Qian voluntarily introduced Ding Yan and his relationship with him, "I was a high school teacher, and I came here to observe an open class before."

The teacher surnamed Ding also seemed to be middle-aged. Su Mo commented, "They are quite lucky."

Li Qian neither agreed nor disagreed.

Though the temperature inside was still exceptionally low, it was still much better than outside.

"Let’s stay here until the snow stops," Li Qian suggested.

In this weather, going outside would mean freezing to death.

It wasn’t long before He Fei returned, but this time to summon Lu Chen and Li Qian for a discussion about some matters.

Su Mo also stood up, "I’ll come too."

He Fei didn’t object, and so she turned to Zhao Changsheng, "You stay here and take care of Aunt Jiang and Ling Ye."

Zhao Changsheng waved his hand at her and blew a flirtatious kiss, "Got it."

The three followed He Fei into a basketball coach’s office set up inside the venue.

Inside, there were three teachers, including Ding Yan, there was one other man and two women.

When He Fei brought them back, Ding Yan stood up and pulled a few chairs over, and the seven people sat down in a circle.

They had just heard from He Fei about the exceptional nature of these people, especially the one with the Space Superpower, and it gave them some ideas.

Seeing that Ding Yan still seemed hesitant, Li Qian took the initiative, "Speak up. We’ll help if we can."

"The situation is this: the current weather is harsh, and we don’t have enough heating equipment. The canteen and South Building’s tables, even when chopped up for kindling, will only last us another two days," Ding Yan’s expression was one of deep sorrow, clothed in a very thin outfit of two student sweaters worn together.

Of course, with such attire, he would feel cold, a fact Su Mo observed quietly.

Ding Yan continued, "I didn’t expect the snowfall to be this fierce, and in just one day the temperature dropped severely. We’ve already provided all the clothing we had to those students with superpowers who can go out."

Next to him, an older female teacher with cracks from dryness and cold on her face also said firmly,

"We heard that your team has a Space Superpower User. We were hoping you could help, take our students to the residential area to retrieve some blankets and clothes."

At this point, Li Qian turned his gaze to Lu Chen and spoke softly, "It’s up to our team leader’s decision."

He Fei’s eyes, filled with hope, turned onto Lu Chen, "We have over 300 students, only about 20 of them are Superpower Users. You saw most of them yesterday, and none have the Space Superpower. We really need it."

Lu Chen didn’t immediately agree, but tapped his fingers on the tabletop and asked in a detached voice, "Why didn’t you head for the B City base at that time?"

This question made Ding Yan and the other teachers exchange looks of uncertainty, but finally, it was Ding Yan who spoke,

"G City has many industrial plants, and there’s a Refining Factory nearby where fuel is made. Before it started snowing, we had always defended that place, thinking it would be useful for scavenging supplies in the future."

He paused, then added, "Moreover, the number of our students is massive, and they are mostly ordinary people. Relocating would be too dangerous."

The statement was reasonable and beyond reproach.

Su Mo nodded in agreement, her interest piqued by the so-called Refining Factory. She looked towards Lu Chen, her eyes filled with inquiry.

The man stopped tapping his fingers on the table, "Is the residential area on the opposite side of the street?"

A hint of pain flickered in He Fei’s eyes as he gazed out at the falling snow, his tone somber, "Yes, we’ve used earth walls and the Gold Element Superpower to separate the two sides. Over there, in the residential area, there are a lot of zombies, but because of the snowfall, they seem to have vanished. I occasionally encountered one outside, frozen in place like an ice sculpture."

The situation he described aligned with what Lu Chen had witnessed.

This indicated that the group of zombies had indeed ceased their cannibalistic nature due to the snowy weather.

This was a good opportunity for the group of students to secure resources.

Lu Chen didn’t ask any further questions; instead, he said, "Since we’re staying here, we’ll naturally contribute."

This meant that they agreed, and Ding Yan along with the two teachers relaxed, their faces brightening with gratitude, "Thank you all!"

Lu Chen looked out at the snowy scene beyond the office window, "After tonight, how about first thing tomorrow morning?"

Following his gaze, Su Mo looked outside. The snow was falling heavily, painting a blinding white, "If it doesn’t stop tonight, the snow will be even thicker tomorrow, and the temperature might drop even lower."

Therefore, time was of the essence.

"Then it’s settled for tomorrow," Ding Yan decided emphatically, standing up and shaking hands with Li Qian and Lu Chen in turn.

When it was Su Mo’s turn, she was about to extend her hand when Lu Chen took over and shook twice on her behalf.

Seeing his protective attitude towards the young lady, Ding Yan, nearly fifty, understood the gesture and retracted his hand with a smile, inviting them to leave.

He Fei breathed a sigh of relief, "Then that’s the plan. I’m going to take some supplies to the people guarding the South Building and the main gate."

After exchanging greetings with a few people, he too left.

Returning to their previous spot, they found it surrounded by a crowd.

A group of girls were fussing over Jiang Yulian and Ling Ye; her child was in the mood for fun, and Ling Ye’s face was being pinched until it turned red, though it was unclear whether from embarrassment or annoyance.

Even Zhao Changsheng sitting by herself was encircled by a group of boys.

Her seductive appearance couldn’t be concealed by her coat, naturally attracting the attention of young men.

Zhao Changsheng’s face was sour; she restrained her anger, given that they were on other people’s turf.

The eyes beneath Li Qian’s glasses darkened, his body unconsciously emanating a dangerous aura.

Su Mo felt it and couldn’t help looking his way. His face still bore the gentle and amicable expression of a kind person, but his demeanor seemed angry.

"Could you make some space, please?" Li Qian spoke up, his gentle voice tinged with a subtle hint of danger.

The men surrounding Zhao Changsheng sensed it, including a Level 3 Superpower User among them.

He was robust and towering, his square face showing a trace of challenge when looking at Li Qian, but he turned away, gesturing to Zhao Changsheng, "I’m Niu Mang, see ya."

Niu Mang? Su Mo mentally chewed on the name, unable to hold back a laugh, she covered her mouth, "Hooligan?"

Niu Mang heard her just in time. Initially irritated, his anger was extinguished by half when he turned and faced Su Mo’s cute, smiling face.

He intended to greet her, but upon catching sight of the tall man beside the petite girl, he shrank away, taking his leave with the rest.
