The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 277 - 275: He Fei

Chapter 277: Chapter 275: He Fei

The companion at his side shouted loudly, "You were attacked, and you can’t see the total number of them?!"

"There are Advanced Level superpower users; I can’t be sure!" the person wailed in pain.

"Prepare! Be on alert! Fight!"

Inside the supermarket, seven students all hid themselves.

Under Li Qian’s spiritual power, these people were exposed without a doubt.

In front of the small two-story supermarket, four people stood at the entrance.

Everything around was serene.

Only the snowflakes falling like goose feathers and the whooshing sound of the cold wind could be heard.

In the eyes of these students, the four people stood there in black fur coats, looking outstanding.

Li Qian’s spiritual power activated once again, and his voice followed, transmitting over, "We are not here for food."

Inside the supermarket, the seven heard him clearly, no one daring to make rash moves, only exchanging glances and communicating with each other.

The only answer they received was the whooshing wind; no sign of movement came from inside.

Su Mo glanced at Lu Chen and whispered, "What should we say?"

Suddenly, Lu Chen lifted his feet and walked a few steps forward.

It seemed like he was planning to walk straight in.

A bullet shot out from a second-floor window, landing right beside Lu Chen’s feet. A figure appeared behind the window, "Don’t move!"

Lu Chen stopped and looked up.

His deep blue eyes stared straight at the window as he spoke coldly, "We don’t want trouble. Once the snow stops, we’ll leave."

Inside the supermarket, a few students looked at each other, one of them mouthing the word ’strong’.

The person by the window pondered for a moment and then spoke out, "This is our territory for finding food. You can follow us, and once the snow stops, we’ll leave."

Lu Chen stepped back to Su Mo’s side, "Deal."

Finally, there was movement from inside the small supermarket. Backpacking and wearing clothes made up of layer upon layer of thin garments, they appeared before them.

Su Mo gave them a quick look, they seemed to be about her age, likely university students.

"There are only four of you?"

The leading male student looked the most robust, holding a gun in his hand, and he was the one who spoke.

Li Qian’s glasses had been wetted by the heavy snow. He took them off, wiped them on his clothes, and said warmly, "There are seven of us, but two are children."

Upon hearing there were children, the wariness of the others lessened significantly.

"I’m He Fei, was it you who injured our Spiritual Ability User just now?" He Fei directed his gaze toward him, still somewhat guarded.

Li Qian replied warmly, "Your companion attacked me, I acted in self-defense, sorry."

His refined appearance with glasses, in the minds of these students, lowered his threat level once more.

He Fei turned his head and looked at the Spiritual Ability User companion, who nodded at him, confirming the incident was indeed initiated by them.

He approached the four, "We are students from K University; the school has been temporarily defended by us. That’s our base, you can follow us back for now."

"Thank you, we need to go back for our car, please wait a moment," Su Mo said with a smile of thanks.

He Fei shifted his gaze, and seeing Su Mo’s cute, dimpled smile, his heart skipped a beat. He nodded to her in a gesture of respect, "10 minutes."

After speaking, he led his people back into the supermarket.

Seeing them retreat, the group started to walk back and forth.

...

In the Mercedes-Benz, Ling Ye, who had been waiting for a while, leaned on the window and looked around. Suddenly, a snow-white figure darted across the snowy ground in front of the car.

He quickly reacted, "Auntie, get down!"

Jiang Yulian was baffled but reflexively covered the child’s mouth and lay down at the bottom of the trunk.

Ling Ye put his finger to his lips to signal them to be silent.

Outside the car, the sound of heavy breathing gradually grew closer.

It wasn’t a zombie, nor was it human—it was the roar of some kind of animal.

This time, Jiang Yulian also heard it. She tightly smothered the child beneath her, not making a sound.

The two hid in the trunk, with Ling Ye poking out half of his head and glancing towards the window in the front left direction. Upon seeing a tuft of white fur, he quickly withdrew his head.

It seemed not to have noticed the people in the car, merely ambling along with its huge paws crunching the dry snow as it moved away.

A long while passed with the sound fading before either of them dared to speak.

Until Su Mo and the others came back.

The snow was falling quickly, nearly burying the freshly made tracks, but they still noticed them.

The footprints that were as large as two human hands startled Su Mo. She crouched in front of the car, compared her own hand to the footprint and asked, "What kind of animal left this? It’s so big?!"

Hearing them return, Ling Ye opened the trunk and ran towards Sister Su, "Sister Su!"

Su Mo caught him in a tight hug, "What passed by outside?"

"It seemed like a white bear," Ling Ye’s small face was panicked, and the cold sweat that had gathered around his neck due to fear turned into a shiver as it met the cold weather outside.

"White Bear? It can’t be a Polar Bear, can it?" Zhao Changsheng exaggeratedly circled the huge footprint.

"Polar Bears are tens of thousands of miles away from here," Su Mo dismissed her subconscious guess with a shake of her head, "Can it travel half the globe to get here?"

"It’s not impossible," Li Qian spoke up, pointing towards the road to the baby store, "I observed on the way to the baby store that there is an aquarium nearby."

"An aquarium?" Su Mo was surprised. She stood up, "That makes sense, but this footprint is really too big."

Lu Chen opened the car door and said to the three, "Let’s go."

It wasn’t the time to be obsessing over where the creature came from. The four got into the car, and Jiang Yulian hurriedly asked Lu Chen, "Are you all right?"

"We’re fine," Lu Chen started the car.

Su Mo turned around, "The diapers have been brought back. We’ll head to the school to shelter from the snow, and we’ll leave when it stops."

Jiang Yulian nodded, still shakily patting her chest, "I didn’t see that creature just now, but that breathing sound was terrifying."

Su Mo comforted her, "The important thing is that everyone’s safe."

They drove the car to the supermarket entrance.

Inside, after scavenging the last bit of supplies, He Fei sighed, "We’ve pretty much scavenged everything edible in the vicinity."

"That’s why I’ve been saying we should go to B City Base. It’s not far from us. A few days’ journey and we should be there. Teacher Ding just insisted on us staying there."

"Yeah, and there’s safety assurance. He insists on sticking to the Refining Factory."

"Although our school has more ordinary students, we can protect them if we’re careful and bring them over."

"That makes sense."

Their conversation was all witnessed by Su Mo and the others.

Su Mo rolled down the car window and called out to them, "B City Base has fallen. We escaped from there."

"What!?" He Fei looked towards the car’s Su Mo, stepping quickly towards her, "You said it fell?!"

Su Mo said with confusion, "Haven’t any superpower users fled this way? B City Base has become a zombie paradise."
