The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 276 - 274: Diapers

Chapter 276: Chapter 274: Diapers

The smell also assaulted the brains of those in the car.

Even Lu Chen frowned at the stench, opening the windows on both sides.

Zhao Changsheng outright retched without any pretense, while Jiang Yulian, having changed the diaper, stretched it toward the front seat, "Please throw this away."

Zhao Changsheng immediately pinched his nose and shrank towards the window, gesturing towards Li Qian.

He reluctantly took it and tossed it out the window.

After airing out the car, the windows were closed.

The vehicle slowly made its way through the snowy landscape, still a while from reaching the center of G City. The industrial plants scattered around the borders were vast and desolate.

It was very open; Su Mo turned her head to look outside the window occasionally spotting a few zombies standing still. After observing, she said, "They aren’t moving at all, have you noticed?"

"I was just about to say that," Zhao Changsheng leaned against the window, looking at the industrial plant in the distance, some zombies were motionless as if frozen in place.

"What’s going on?" Su Mo wondered.

Lu Chen slowed the car to a stop. Su Mo turned her head and saw three zombies blocking the path ahead.

"Why don’t you run them over?" she asked.

Lu Chen turned off the engine, "I’ll go check."

He opened the door, and the biting cold wind rushed in, causing Su Mo to rub her face that got hit directly by the wind, "The wind is really cold in this snowy weather."

She sat in the car, watching Lu Chen walk over.

Being a superpower user with the Ice Ability, the snow and cold seemed to pose no threat to him, even some of the falling snowflakes seemed to orbit around him.

Even from just the sight of his back, he looked as if a celestial being had descended; Su Mo stared unblinkingly, inwardly impressed.

In front of Lu Chen, the zombies remained motionless, with a thin layer of frost even forming on the white of their eyes.

No attack, no escape.

Bizarre.

The Ice Blade in the man’s hand condensed and shot into the brain of a zombie, which fell heavily with a thud, offering no resistance.

He cleared the zombies blocking the road this way, collected the Crystal Stones and found no anomalies.

When he returned to the car, he was covered with snow.

Su Mo helped him brush off the snow clinging to his coat’s fur, then asked, "No problem?"

"It’s like they’re frozen," Lu Chen said coldly, restarting the car, a trace of doubt in his eyes.

"Isn’t that a good thing? We could take this opportunity to clear out the zombies, how great would that be?" Su Mo clicked her tongue a few times.

From the back, Li Qian analyzed, "That black rain came fiercely, this snow might also conceal hidden dangers."

Lu Chen nodded slightly, and the car turned a corner onto the main street, "Possibly."

They entered G City, which was covered with nothing but the whiteness of snow over the buildings.

The streets, other than wrecked cars and some trash, were empty.

Su Mo rubbed her eyes, "Lu Chen, let’s find a place to stop and have a look. Don’t drive too long; my eyes are uncomfortable."

The probability of snow blindness was high in these all-white conditions.

After looking around, the man parked the car in front of a pharmacy with shattered glass windows.

"Aunt Jiang, you and Ling Ye wait in the car, we’ll go down and take a look," Su Mo said, turning back.

Jiang Yulian: "Don’t worry, I’ll take care of him."

The four got out of the car, splitting up to search.

"Someone’s been through here," Su Mo observed her surroundings; most of the stores had signs of having been smashed.

"Take a look around," Lu Chen said.

The four split into pairs and set off.

Su Mo stepped on scattered glass shards as she entered a children’s clothing store, which seemed to be well-preserved.

However, most of the little clothes hanging on the walls were summer wear.

For some reason, Su Mo reached past the rows of shelves and picked up a goose-yellow dress with lace edges. She ran her fingers over it, and Lu Chen, appearing behind her at some point, asked, "Picking out a few?"

"Ah," Su Mo turned to the side, concealing her emotions, and put the little dress back. She grabbed a dozen or so pieces of boys’ clothing and stuffed them into Lu Chen’s arms, "Take these, Aunt Jiang’s child can use them later. I’ll check in the back for any winter stock."

Lu Chen’s arms were filled with clothes by her, and once he had gathered them, his gaze lingered on the row of little dresses. After a moment of thought, he collected an entire rack of girls’ clothing.

Who knows, they might be useful if a daughter comes along, right?

He even picked up some unopened pacifier boxes and various toys that were scattered on the floor.

All this was unbeknownst to Su Mo, who had gone into the storage room at the back, where stacks of clothes were piled up.

After some rummaging, she found a few pieces of winter clothing, "Lu Chen, come in!"

The man entered.

She pointed at the clothes on the warehouse shelves, "These are all for winter, enough for us. Let’s pack them and check out other places."

The two visited several shops in a row, with all the food having been scavenged, even the bubble tea stores had no milk tea powder left.

She spotted a shoe store, but unfortunately, they were all summer styles, not a single pair with fur.

"This place has been cleaned out too thoroughly," Su Mo sighed.

The snow fell more heavily, so Su Mo stood at the store entrance under the awning to avoid the snow. She looked up at Lu Chen, "The snow is getting too heavy. If it doesn’t stop soon, it will cover the tires."

The man reached out, brushing off the snow from her head, "Before the snow stops, we need to find a safe place to stay."

That was exactly what Su Mo was thinking. When she saw Zhao Changsheng and Li Qian appear at the corner of the street with four large bags, she and Lu Chen approached them.

She asked, "How did it go? Are these all?"

"Diapers. That was the only baby store we found, and the only thing left was this. Even the formula was all taken," Zhao Changsheng said, his expression conveying speechlessness.

"We’re in a similar situation. Let’s head back," Su Mo said, rubbing her somewhat red, frostbitten face.

"Yeah," Zhao Changsheng nodded, handing the items to Lu Chen.

Once everything was packed, the group hurried towards where they had parked.

Li Qian’s spiritual power suddenly fluctuated, and he narrowed his eyes, "There are living people here."

"Living people?" Su Mo drew her Tang Blade, instantly on guard.

"Seven, a group," Li Qian locked onto the people, and suddenly a strange spiritual power invaded his mind. He halted his steps, his superpower fully activated.

Inside a small supermarket, a young student knelt on the ground and spat out a mouthful of blood, "A superpower user is coming."

Li Qian didn’t mean to leave anyone to die. He withdrew his superpower and looked at Lu Chen, "We might have entered someone else’s territory. What do we do?"

"Lead the way."

"The snow is too heavy now, we can’t leave. We should negotiate with them to keep to our separate ways," Su Mo also suggested.

Li Qian nodded, pointing down the road, "It’s not far from here. We’ll walk there, and if there’s no issue, we’ll come back for the car."

He took the lead.

...

"How many people do they have?"

"Uh, two or maybe three," the student with a throbbing headache was helped up from the ground.
