Chapter 275: Chapter 273: Zhao Changsheng’s Annoyance

The man inside the tent immediately opened his eyes, Su Mo was still resting in the crook of his arm, her ear twitched as she indeed heard Li Qian speaking, she pushed Lu Chen, speaking groggily, "I’ll accompany you".

"No need, sleep a little longer, it’s almost dawn," he withdrew his hand, straightened her quilt, put on his coat, and stepped out pulling aside the curtain.

Outside had become exceptionally cold.

The continuously falling snowflakes made Lu Chen frown slightly, "Is it snowing?"

Li Qian nodded, "Winter has arrived, this is the first snowfall".

Lu Chen sat down outside the tent, looked up at him, and suddenly said, "Su Niang’s son, I want the truth".

Li Qian’s eyes darkened a degree instantly, he slipped his hands into the pockets of his gorilla fur coat, speaking softly, "He’s not infected".

There was a moment of quiet between the two before Lu Chen spoke indifferently, "Go to sleep".

He planned to keep it under wraps, Li Qian pursed his lips and crawled into his own tent.

Inside, Zhao Changsheng was still sound asleep, he lay down next to her, and his fingers, cold from the snow, touched her delicate face.

Zhao Changsheng, with eyes closed, reached out a hand to rub her face, Li Qian withdrew his hand, only to see her turn over without showing any signs of waking up.

When had he started to notice her?

He couldn’t quite remember.

But that face, indeed resembled a fox’s, captivating.

In the early morning, Su Mo was awakened by Zhao Changsheng’s roaring.

She crawled out from under the quilt, put on her coat, and after buttoning up, peeked out a head through the parted curtain.

Outside, their car roof, beside the tent, the ground, all were covered with a thick layer of snow; she jumped in surprise, "It has snowed!"

Lu Chen was sitting in the car sheltering from the snow, seeing her awaken, he opened the car door and stepped towards her, "Awake?"

Su Mo pulled him into the tent, brushed off the snowflakes from his head, his hair dampened instantly with the melted snow.

"With the roads like this in the snow, travel won’t be easy, take out the warm boots and gloves that were put in your space," Su Mo tidied up the quilts inside the tent and held out her hands to him.

Lu Chen did as she asked, taking out several pairs of shoes and gloves.

Su Mo found her own size and put them on, then handed a much larger pair of shoes to Lu Chen, "Put them on, don’t let your feet freeze later".

"Hmm".

The man softened his gaze, changing out of his own shoes.

After Su Mo quickly rinsed her mouth and washed her face, she took the shoes over to Li Qian’s tent, where inside, the sound of Zhao Changsheng cursing could still be heard,

"Zhao Changsheng, give it a rest, put on your shoes".

Inside the tent, Zhao Changsheng’s hair was a complete mess, she couldn’t believe that she had woken up from sleep wrapped tightly around Li Qian’s waist, her legs entwined with his.

She glared fiercely at the amiable and innocent looking Li Qian, straightened her hair and pulled aside the curtain, "Momo".

Su Mo passed her two pairs of shoes and some gloves, "It’s snowing, change your shoes".

"Alright," Zhao Changsheng ducked back inside.

Just as Su Mo took a couple of steps away, she heard a commotion behind her from the tent, turning around, it was Li Qian who had been kicked out, still holding a pair of shoes.

She couldn’t help sizing up Li Qian, who adjusted his nearly flying-off glasses, put on his shoes and then smiled at her as if nothing happened, "Morning".

"Good morning," Su Mo nodded.

Something felt off, very off indeed.

She returned to her own tent and took out the small-sized warm boots that belonged to Ling Ye. For a moment, she was worried—she hadn’t anticipated the presence of Jiang Yulian.

Over there, upon hearing some noise, Jiang Yulian got up and followed them out. Ling Ye, too, dutifully put on his little coat and followed.

At first, he curiously observed the landscape that had turned completely white. Then, seeing Su Mo waving at him, he ran over, "Sister Su."

"Put on the shoes," Su Mo squatted down, placing the shoes at his feet, and reached out to take off his shoes.

"I can do it myself!"

Ling Ye hugged the shoes and retreated a few steps, then started hopping on one foot to change into them.

Su Mo did not stop him. She stood up, went to Jiang Yulian, looked at the child in her arms, and asked, "You didn’t get frozen last night, did you?"

"No, we were fine. The fur you gave us kept us so warm," Jiang Yulian again expressed her sincere gratitude to Su Mo.

Su Mo glanced down at her feet and, indeed, saw only a pair of thin, breathable house slippers. She then looked up and led Jiang Yulian toward the vehicle,

"That’s good. Aunt Jiang, you go and sit in the car first. We’ll take care of packing up."

"No need, I can manage," Jiang Yulian immediately said after placing her child on the car seat.

"We’re going to rely on you for water supply from now on. We can’t afford to freeze these feet," Su Mo pointed at her feet.

The snow was still falling tirelessly, already thick enough to reach the ankles.

Jiang Yulian looked at her own feet, her toes having turned numb and unresponsive from the moment they first stepped onto the snowy ground. Hearing this, she no longer refused and simply said, "Just tell me whenever you need water."

Su Mo smiled and nodded.

She turned around and began to help Lu Chen take down the tent.

Once everything was packed, Lu Chen checked the engine, topped it off with fuel, and parked the car behind the overturned fuel tanker, ready to set off with everyone on board.

Before getting into the car, Zhao Changsheng grabbed Li Qian by the collar, dragging him aside to sternly warn him, "My sleeping posture is a bit bad, but let it go this time. Next time, keep your distance from me!"

Li Qian looked down at her hand gripping his collar, then at her annoyed and embarrassed expression. An amused smile appeared, "Is this your idea of maintaining distance?"

"..." Zhao Changsheng withdrew her hand and huffed before striding away.

Li Qian watched her departing figure, touched his nose, and his lips curved into a smile.

Once everyone was aboard, Lu Chen took out the Beef Soup stored in his Space, serving a bowl to each person, followed by a rice ball. After a filling breakfast, a warm sensation rose from their bellies. Though mild, it was comforting.

Lu Chen stepped on the gas, and the car’s wheels slowly made their way over the thick snow.

Due to the snowfall, the obstacles on the ground had become blurred. They entered the outskirts of G City at a speed not exceeding fifty miles per hour.

Inside the car, Jiang Yulian’s baby in her arms began to wail, his cries particularly piercing.

Su Mo turned her head back, "What’s making him cry?"

"He... he needs a fresh diaper," said Jiang Yulian, a trace of embarrassment on her face.

Su Mo thought for a moment, then opened the System Bag and took out a pack of the extra-long Size 450 Su Fei bunny diapers. She handed it back, "Change him for now with this to pad it. I’ve heard it’s not good for a child’s bottom to stay in a diaper too long."

Jiang Yulian and Ling Ye were sitting in the spacious back of the vehicle. Li Qian had an embarrassed look in his eyes as he passed it back to them.

It was an absorbent material, large enough to act as a temporary diaper. Jiang Yulian took off the soiled diaper from the child, and sure enough, it was quite a mess there.
