Chapter 272: Chapter 270: Ling Ye’s Special Attributes

Zhao Changsheng’s hands spread wide, the dazzling blue light burst from his fox-like eyes, and above the sky, the clouds quickly gathered into darkness as a tremendously thick lightning bolt struck down.

The stench of charred flesh wafted through the air. Seeing this, Su Mo stepped onto the monster’s knee, Lu Chen swung out an Ice Shield beneath her foot, Su Mo forcefully stepped on it, leapt into the air, and slashed the Tang Blade towards the right flesh wing formed from hands.

The sharp blade sliced fiercely through the end of the flesh wing.

A huge part of the flesh wing broke off and fell to the ground as Su Mo landed.

The creature went completely berserk.

Its hands lunged at Su Mo from both sides.

Lu Chen charged forward, conjuring shields on either side to block the clasping hands.

Zhao Changsheng’s whip lashed out, binding one hand and yanking it back.

Sizzling electricity dug into its arm, scorching it inward.

Jiang Yulian could no longer stand, holding a child with one hand and launching Water Arrows with the other, aiming straight for the monster’s eyes.

With its hands controlled and half a wing missing, the Water Arrow successfully penetrated the creature’s eyes.

"Roar!"

A massive roar erupted from the creature’s throat, its body tilting forward as a gaping, fang-filled maw opened on its stomach, ready to swallow both Su Mo and Lu Chen.

"Stop!"

Ling Ye’s juvenile voice yelled out.

Su Mo was ready to jump away with Lu Chen, knife in hand, but the creature unexpectedly halted, stunning her into shock.

It actually listened to Ling Ye!

Su Mo suddenly turned to look at Ling Ye, his small figure approaching them step by step, and stopped in front of the monster.

He didn’t even know where he got the courage from, but he reached out his hand towards the monster and commanded, "Come here."

The creature, which had been about to crush them, obediently released its grip. It bowed its head and circled around the duo, kneeling before Ling Ye.

Lu Chen quickly retreated with Su Mo, leaving only Ling Ye standing in front of the creature.

His hand was about to touch the creature’s head.

"Ling Ye, you’ll get infected!" Su Mo couldn’t help but warn him out loud.

He turned his head, glanced at her, but his hand did not hesitate to plunge directly into the creature’s eyeball.

When he pulled his hand out again, it was coated with disgusting mucus, holding a Crystal Stone that glowed with an iridescent sheen.

The massive creature collapsed thunderously in front of him.

Su Mo, who had seen many staggering scenes, was shocked as well, "He just took out the monster’s Crystal Stone?"

"Yeah," Zhao Changsheng echoed, equally astonished, "How did this little brat do it?"

"Medicine?" Lu Chen lowered his gaze, looking at Su Mo.

Su Mo recalled the medicine that had been injected into him and said at once, "It’s really possible that’s the reason."

Li Qian’s headache vanished without a trace the moment the creature collapsed. Shaking his head and rubbing his temples, he said, "So, the reason it chased after us all this way... was because of him?"

This answer was unexpected for them.

Ling Ye stared at the Crystal Stone in his hand, his youthful eyes filled with longing. Suddenly, he rubbed the Crystal Stone on his body and then threw it into his mouth, crushing it with his teeth and swallowing it.

"He... just ate it?!" Su Mo was dumbfounded. She walked up to him, crouched down, pinched his mouth open to force him to let her check.

There was nothing in his mouth; not even remnants remained after the absorption.

"Sister Su, I’m fine," Ling Ye’s small hand squeezed hers, his expression notably calm and serene.

Su Mo stared at him for a long moment, speculating in her heart. Could it be that Lu Jin’s medicine actually serendipitously evolved Ling Ye?

"Sister Su?" Ling Ye waved his hand in front of her.

Su Mo came to her senses and took his hand, "Let’s go."

The group returned to the shop that the military vehicle had crashed into.

The wheels were almost beyond repair, the rear two tires had completely deflated, and the windshield was shattered beyond use.

Su Mo patted the vehicle, feeling a twinge of pain, "Can we still fix it?"

Lu Chen circled the car, stepping through the broken glass, and said coldly after a round of inspection, "It’s totaled. Find a place to stay tonight, and we’ll look for another vehicle tomorrow."

"That’s the only option," Su Mo sighed.

"Wahhh" The child in Jiang Yulian’s arms began to cry loudly.

Su Mo turned her head, "What’s wrong?"

"He... he’s hungry, he needs to feed," Jiang Yulian said with an embarrassed smile, "I’ll go into the car to feed him."

She opened the broken car door, sat in with the child, and began to feed.

Li Qian’s complexion wasn’t great, but after scanning the surroundings he said gently, "I’ll go and see if there are any cars around."

Su Niang had just died; Li Qian was not taking it well. Su Mo gave Zhao Changsheng a look. She pursed her lips and said, "I’ll go have a look, too, Momo, be careful, okay?"

Su Mo nodded her head. Seeing the two leave, and the surroundings temporarily safe, she then told Ling Ye, "You stay here and watch over Aunt Jiang. If something happens, call for me. I’ll be close by."

Ling Ye nodded his head, clearly still trying to come to terms with the power he had just discovered.

Su Mo patted his head and led Lu Chen out of the shop, "We haven’t left the B City area yet."

"Mmm," Lu Chen led her into a derelict two-story restaurant.

All around were rotting, stinking zombie bodies.

Stepping over the glass on the floor, Su Mo reached the second story, and as a zombie lunged at her, she chopped off its head with a blade before entering the next floor.

She walked to the window, looking out at the street, the ruined buildings, the high-rises, and the occasional zombie that appeared.

"We’ve been separated from Rong Bai and the others," she said softly to Lu Chen behind her.

"They know how to survive better," Lu Chen stepped forward, standing beside her.

Outside, the orange sunset slowly sank, casting long shadows of the ruined buildings.

Su Mo silently wrapped her arm around his, "Don’t be sad about Jiang Hai."

Lu Chen looked down, turned, and drew her into his embrace, "You too."

His embrace was always slightly cold, yet Su Mo cherished it especially.

She looked out of the window – close to the edge of B City, the buildings were not tall, allowing a clear view of the situation a few streets away.

Suddenly, her ears twitched; a subtle noise set her nerves on edge.

Su Mo immediately pulled away from Lu Chen’s embrace, half her body leaning out the window, her eyes intently fixed on a street corner.

"Is there something?" Lu Chen tensed, his muscles beneath his clothes tightening, emitting a cool presence.

"I think we should leave, quickly," Su Mo pulled him down the stairs, "I heard them, so many voices."

With her Level 4 expanded hearing, she picked up countless zombies’ roaring sounds.

Perspiration formed in Su Mo’s palms from the tension as Lu Chen’s grip unconsciously tightened.

The two rushed out of the restaurant, heading straight for the shop.

Jiang Yulian, who was still feeding the child in the car, was abruptly pulled out by Su Mo as she flung the door open, "Hurry! Something’s coming!"

"What!"

Jiang Yulian quickly adjusted her clothes, took the child, and followed Su Mo, with Ling Ye close behind.
