Chapter 271: Chapter 269: Li Qian’s Ulterior Motives

Su Mo turned to look at Huang Qi lying on the ground; he had just been used as a cushion and had fallen first. She walked over, gently lifted his head, and beneath it was a pool of fresh blood.

"He’s sustained a head injury, and I’m not sure if any bugs have gotten into his brain," said Su Mo.

Su Niang felt like the sky was collapsing, her body started convulsing, and her eyes began to roll erratically. "Save him, save, save him."

Li Qian reached out to help again but was held back by Lu Chen, who looked down, his eyes filled with gloom and sorrow.

"Momo! We can’t hold on much longer!" In the distance, Zhao Changsheng shouted.

Su Mo quickly looked through the crowd of zombies and saw Rong Bai and Jin Han supporting them.

Time had run out.

Li Qian clenched his hands; his fingertips twined with spiritual power, which took the form of thread, attaching to Su Niang’s neck as he whispered softly, "Goodbye."

As Su Niang lost consciousness completely, the thread swept across her neck, severing her head.

"What should we do with this Huang Qi?" Su Mo furrowed her brow.

Li Qian’s eyes hid a dark glow as he spoke softly, "He’s infected, kill him."

"You can tell?" Su Mo stood up and looked up at him.

"Yes, let him go, to accompany Su Niang," Li Qian said as he placed his hand on Huang Qi’s neck and swiftly broke it.

Lu Chen glanced at him, seemingly discerning something, but kept silent and simply hooked Su Mo’s hand, "Break out."

Su Mo nodded, no longer dwelling on the matter as they had delayed long enough, and the protective shield was running out of time.

She swung her blade, following closely beside Lu Chen as they broke out of the encirclement.

In the midst of the infected, upon seeing the three break free, Zhao Changsheng finally relaxed.

Her whip paused momentarily, then lashed out again, splattering bugs against the military vehicle’s window, causing Jiang Yulian, huddled in the backseat with her child, to shrink back in terror.

Ling Ye froze for a moment, his little hand reaching the window, touching the bugs through a layer of iron netting and glass, a hint of blue flashing in his innocent eyes.

The bugs outside the window seemed to respond, crawling in motion with his moving palm.

Jiang Yulian quickly noticed this anomaly and softly called out, "Child.. child?"

Ling Ye came back to his senses, the glow in his eyes vanishing as he tenderly replied, "I’m here, Aunt Jiang."

Seeing his normal expression, Jiang Yulian felt she had overthought it and cast him a forced smile.

Outside the vehicle,

The three fought their way through.

Lu Chen looked towards the Outer Ring’s exit where many people were already moving cars.

And more and more infected ones approached them, several Level 3 Power System superpower users unleashed their full powers, dragging cars with one hand to clear a path.

Jin Han shouted loudly, "The road’s clear! Get on the car, get on the car!"

Li Qian was in a bad mood. Lu Chen returned to the driver’s seat, Su Mo fastened her seatbelt, and Zhao Changsheng entered the car, "Quick, quick, quick!"

"What about Grandma Su?" Ling Ye climbed to the front seat and asked Su Mo.

Su Mo turned around, rubbed his head, and pushed him back in his seat, "She left with her son."

Ling Ye’s mouth opened slightly, but he ultimately hung his head and simply muttered, "Oh."

"Boom!"

In the Inner Ring, intense serial explosions occurred.

One after another.

Jiang Yulian immediately burst into tears, and Lu Chen’s hands tightened on the steering wheel.

Su Mo could guess that Jiang Hai had decided to die alongside them.

Her mood was equally heavy.

A huge number of cars burst out from the Second Ring, rushing out of the Outer Ring.

Su Mo and her group were no exception.

Not far from the Outer Ring, hidden behind a building, Lu Jin pressed the walkie-talkie after seeing the familiar military vehicle passing by, "Depart".

"Lu Jin, has Lu Chen come out yet!?"

The voice over the walkie-talkie was Fang Ya’s, filled with panic.

"Yes"

...

Behind Lu Chen’s car, a giant creature covered in flames and countless hands had destroyed the exit of the Second Ring and was charging towards them.

Wherever it went, it destroyed numerous cars, its large hand with countless palms scooping up an infected person and stuffing it into the sharp-toothed mouth on its stomach.

Turning her head back, Su Mo exclaimed, "It wasn’t killed by the explosion, and it has grown this big!"

"You know this prototype?" Zhao Changsheng asked.

Su Mo nodded, "I found it in a department store, and Lu Jin forcibly captured it and brought it back."

"Really should have killed Lu Jin," Zhao Changsheng’s hands crackled with electricity.

Su Mo nodded in agreement, but now was not the time for that discussion. She looked sideways, "Lu Chen, it’s too fast. We might get caught."

Their vehicle was falling behind, and for some reason it was attracting the creature which didn’t attack other targets, just them. No matter how Lu Chen swerved, it didn’t change its course and kept coming straight for them.

"We need to separate from those people," said Su Mo, "otherwise, everyone will suffer."

Lu Chen glanced at the rearview mirror outside, turned the steering wheel, and entered a small road outside the base, completely separating from them.

The high speed of the car kicked up a large amount of dry leaves from the ground.

When Jin Han and Rong Bai realized that the car following them had disappeared, it was already too late.

The military vehicle sped through the old buildings, and the monster, towering seven or eight meters tall, closely followed behind them. With a single leap, it easily crushed a small car, shattering glass everywhere.

"Why is it chasing us all the time? Logically, that convoy has more people; it doesn’t make sense," Su Mo continuously observed the monster’s movements from behind, her face anxious.

Lu Chen had already floored the accelerator, but the monster behind was still relentlessly pursuing them.

Continuously weaving through the city streets, the monster seemed tireless—no matter how they detoured, it always found them immediately.

A car was lifted by it and smashed onto the road in front of them.

Lu Chen slammed on the brakes and swerved the steering wheel; the car crashed into a shop, hitting a glass countertop and finally stopping.

The windscreen in front shattered into a spiderweb, kicking up huge plumes of dust.

"Get out!"

Lu Chen growled, reached over to unbuckle Su Mo’s seatbelt, opened the door, and pushed her out of the car.

All six people in the car got out and ran.

The huge creature stood right in front of the shop.

Su Mo gripped her Tang Blade, "Get ready to fight!"

After drinking some Jasmine Tea and bolstering her superpower, Lu Chen was the first to charge forward.

Su Mo quickly followed while Li Qian directed his spiritual power straight at the monster.

His vigorous spiritual power wrapped around the prototype’s legs like threads but snapped in half a second.

Useless. He knelt on one knee, his head throbbing with pain, and yelled, "I can’t control it."

Ling Ye stood next to Jiang Yulian, staring intensely at the enormous creature with a peculiar expression.

Su Mo drank some Longjing Tea, leaped to dodge the countless swiping hands, and viciously stabbed her Tang Blade into the creature’s thick arm, gouging out a large chunk of flesh mixed with unidentified human hands.

In front of Lu Chen, countless crystals converged, aiming straight for the creature’s eyes.

The pair of huge meat wings reacted incredibly fast, directly blocking the incoming crystals.
