Chapter 247: Chapter 245: I Can Do It Too
Su Mo was half-embraced by him as they came out, her whole being relaxed, yet the moment she met the eyes of the people outside, she unconsciously tightened the coat around her.
In the crowd, she saw Sun Cheng, who nodded to Lu Chen after making eye contact. The look he gave her was nothing but unfamiliarity mixed with a hint of curiosity.
Su Mo understood that his memories had been erased; she hid her emotions and did not go over to greet him.
Zhao Changsheng had been nearby the whole time, vigilantly keeping an eye on the activity in the private room. Seeing her come out, he immediately pulled Li Qian over.
"Momo, did they give you a hard time?" she asked anxiously, looking at her.
"No trouble," Su Mo said cheerfully. She elbowed Lu Chen in the waist, "Everything’s been resolved."
Li Qian’s eyes swept over his black shirt, then he lifted his glass towards them, "Congratulations."
Lu Chen took a glass of wine offered by a passing waiter and likewise raised his glass towards him.
Suddenly, the lights in the entire hall darkened. On a stage within the hall, a curtain dropped and Jiang Hai, dressed in a military uniform, emerged from the private room and stepped onto that stage.
All eyes were drawn to him as tonight’s main event began.
Su Mo and her group chose a table to sit down at. She had already seen the content Jiang Hai was about to announce on Lu Chen’s office desk. Now, the gasps of shock from those around her only made her scoff.
Jin Han approached them with a drink and pulled up a chair to sit, but his expression was not as excited as those of other superpower users, "Is this news serious?"
Su Mo took the glass of wine from in front of Lu Chen and clinked it against Jin Han’s, whispering, "If you trust me, let your men set aside their plans and not get involved in this."
"What do you mean?" Jin Han was puzzled. Speaking of items that could evolve ordinary people, who wouldn’t like it? Superpower users had a few loved ones by their side, everyone wanted to be among the first beneficiaries, but likewise, the risk was equally great.
Her face hidden in the dark, unidentifiable, Su Mo swirled her glass and took a sip, "I don’t know, just assume it could be deadly."
Lu Chen watched her drinking, his eyes darkening as he grabbed her hand, "Just a little drink will do."
"Got it," Su Mo pouted and set down the glass.
"Is it related to the stuff from Southern Island?" Li Qian, always astute, guessed as he saw her like this.
"Yeah," Su Mo nodded. She leaned on Lu Chen and spoke lazily, "Whatever the people above want to do, no one can stop them. Let them fuss about it."
Zhao Changsheng, somewhat understanding their conversation, could only grasp one thing—it probably wasn’t good news.
Jin Han was silent for a while, then raised his glass to them, "Thanks."
Su Mo squeezed Lu Chen’s arm and said softly, "I’m going to the restroom."
The man made a move to stand, but she quickly pressed him down, "You’re going to follow me to the ladies’ room? I’ll be right back on my own."
Lu Chen then nodded.
She was still a bit uncomfortable down there but far better than before. Su Mo slowly made her way to the restroom, still greeted by many people along the way mostly because of Lu Chen’s influence; she didn’t know them well.
After using the restroom, she looked in the mirror, slightly pulled open one side of her coat, and the purple bruises on her neck made her face flush.
"Did you guys do it?"
An angry voice tinged with gloom emanated from the entrance.
Immediately Su Mo covered her neck and turned around, frowning when she saw the person, "Lu Jin, this is the ladies’ room."
With a "bang," he shut the restroom door.
Su Mo thought to herself that this was bad, but at that moment, she was the only one in the restroom. She kept retreating, the Tang Blade appearing in her hand, "Lu Jin, don’t force me."
"Why won’t you listen?" Lu Jin’s surroundings were visibly distorting, a clear sign of his immense anger.
Su Mo bit her lip; a big step caused a wave of pain, and she couldn’t help but glare at him in annoyance, "We were never supposed to cross paths, I told you it was an accident."
Her words did nothing to soothe him, for Lu Jin they were like oil on fire.
He tore through Space and attacked her.
Su Mo swung her Tang Blade to meet him head-on; the Space before her rippled, and her blade got stuck in a crack, unable to move at all. Then, without giving her a chance to escape, he threw her to the ground, sending her skidding several meters.
"Hiss," her cold sweat came pouring down instantly.
Enraged and beyond reason, Lu Jin threw her Tang Blade aside and appeared next to her in the blink of an eye. He grabbed her throat and ripped open her small jacket.
Beneath the jacket were extensive marks that drove him further into fury.
"If Lu Chen can, then so can I," he threatened, leaning down to kiss her.
Su Mo immediately grabbed a Flat Pot and smacked him with it, "Let go of me!"
Lu Jin wasn’t fooled by the same moves twice; he ripped off his tie and used it to bind her hands.
"Lu Jin, if you dare touch me, I will kill you," Su Mo’s eyes blazed with an undisguised hatred.
That murderous gaze made Lu Jin’s heart tighten, he then scoffed, "Hatred is also an option."
Outside the door, a few puzzled female voices echoed, "Why is this door locked?"
"Don’t know, let’s ask the staff."
Su Mo’s ears twitched, intending to shout, but Lu Jin had already anticipated her intention and covered her mouth.
She bit his hand forcefully, tearing off a large piece of flesh from his palm; Su Mo spat out the flesh and skin, angrily declaring, "I should have killed you long ago."
Unfazed, Lu Jin began to undo her red dress straps.
Just as Su Mo despaired, the bathroom door was destroyed by a rift in Space, and Lu Chen, sensing something amiss, rushed over.
Su Mo breathed a sigh of relief, her eyes turning red upon seeing him.
The girl, disheveled with a bloodied mouth, looked so mistreated it was enough to drive Lu Chen into a frenzy.
Following him, Zhao Changsheng’s gorgeous face turned cold. She dashed over, kicked Lu Jin away, took off her coat, and draped it over Su Mo before scooping her up in her arms.
Lu Chen charged at Lu Jin, surrounded by countless ice crystals, like a god of death.
Instantly, the restroom was filled with frost, and sharp barbs of Cold Ice arose from the ground.
He slammed Lu Jin against the washbasin; the wall’s Cold Ice Barb stabbed into Lu Jin’s abdomen, shattering the basin instantly.
At that time, the hall burst into thunderous applause, though many were still drawn by the loud noises coming from the unrest.
Jiang Hai signaled the soldiers below with his eyes, and they immediately moved towards the noise.
Li Qian picked up the Tang Blade, returned it to Su Mo, then took off his jacket and draped it over Zhao Changsheng, guarding the two as he stood by the door.
Inside the restroom, the two men were fighting fiercely; even with his abdomen pierced, Lu Jin showed no sign of backing down and clashed with Lu Chen.
A crowd gathered at the door, watching the battle between the two power users, which helped them better understand the control of superpowers.
