The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 243 - 241: Endurance Bonus

Chapter 243: Chapter 241: Endurance Bonus

After simply stir-frying the tomatoes and onions to bring out their aroma and boiling them in water, Su Mo smashed and poured the beaten eggs into it, while praising, "Hu Ding does a good job raising chickens, these eggs are quite large."

Lu Chen leaned closer to her and glanced at the pot with red and yellow intertwined fragrances wafting from it, then said, "I’ll have him bring more tomorrow."

"Let’s talk about it after we eat," Su Mo pushed him back with her elbow, "Wash your hands and get ready for dinner."

When the heat was about right, Su Mo turned off the stove, followed by the refreshing of the interface displayed.

Su Mo almost threw everything including the pot and soup out, her hands began to tremble, "System, are you malfunctioning?"

No one responded to her.

Her hand frantically slid through the recipe shop in the air until she flipped to the vegetable category, not seeing any effects listed for tomato soup.

Such a simple dish, yet it wasn’t recorded!

Su Mo’s expression turned to the ugliest extreme.

"What are you doing?" Lu Chen asked, puzzled, standing beside her.

She gave him a stern look and coughed lightly, "Well, this soup turned out to be a failure, I might as well take it back and drink it myself."

Lu Chen raised his eyebrows, eyeing the tomato soup that was clearly perfectly done, and said, "I don’t mind."

"You don’t understand, this, it’s a bit nourishing," Su Mo struggled to keep her expression under control, her fingers twisting her clothing, never expecting that cooking tomato soup could result in such an awkward recipe.

"Hm?" Lu Chen caught her expression in detail, and his eyes darkened subtly. Suddenly, he bypassed her to take the tomato soup and walked out, "Come out to eat when you’re done."

Su Mo bit her lip, almost in tears, and served two bowls of rice to take out.

The round table was large, and Su Mo scooted her butt to sit at the farthest position from him.

"Why sit so far away?" Lu Chen patted the stool next to him.

Su Mo waved her hands repeatedly, "I can stand."

The man narrowed his phoenix eyes, radiating a chill, "Are you so reluctant to sit next to me?"

Made nervous by his stare, Su Mo eventually scooted her butt to sit next to him.

Only then did Lu Chen seem satisfied. He crisply snapped off a Crucian Carp’s tail and placed it into her bowl, "Eat."

Su Mo poked at the tail, but her eyes were glued to the pot of tomato egg drop soup.

Lu Chen clearly captured her furtive glances, then took another look at the soup with the corners of his mouth curving up.

Su Mo waited a while before seeing him touch that pot of soup. She let out a sigh of relief and began to mutter quietly while eating, "Why do you always pick fish tails for me?"

"You don’t like it?" Lu Chen paused his chopsticks.

Su Mo considered for a moment, then raised her head to look at him, "It’s not that, I just want to try other parts occasionally."

"..." Lu Chen gave her a look, finally picking off some tender meat from the fish belly and dipping it into the fresh soup in the plate, then placing it back into her bowl again.

Su Mo was pleased this time, but with her small appetite, she couldn’t eat much, and most of it ended up in Lu Chen’s stomach.

She put down her chopsticks and just watched him leisurely finish his meal.

All that was left was the last pot of soup untouched. The man put down his chopsticks, picked up a large spoon, and leisurely ladled the soup into his bowl.

Su Mo’s expression immediately became tense. She grabbed Lu Chen’s arm and said awkwardly, "I’m not lying to you, this stuff really shouldn’t be drunk."

"How do I know if I don’t try?" he placed the bowl of soup in front of her, then served himself another bowl.

"No, I might be fine if I drink it, but you might have an accident. I don’t know if you understand," Su Mo said, pulling on his sleeve, her legs beginning to shake involuntarily.

Lu Chen gave her a deliberately puzzled look, but his hand decisively picked up the soup and drank it.

It was too late...

Su Mo watched as Lu Chen’s expression gradually stiffened. She shifted her chair, preparing to stand up and retreat first.

Her legs were pressed down onto the chair by the man’s large palm. Su Mo involuntarily glanced at the abnormality there and immediately looked up, pleading, "I really never thought of letting you eat this!"

"Endurance bonus? Hmm?" Lu Chen’s thin lips moved, his voice deep, the tail of his hmm rising slightly with a magnetic lilt, causing Su Mo to shiver again. She looked at him in terror, "I told you not to eat it!"

"But I drank it, what now?" he leaned close, his eyes revealing undisguised desire. The buttons at his collar had somehow loosened, revealing delicately sculpted collarbones and firm, pale skin underneath.

Su Mo felt like she was about to catch fire. She pushed him and said with a trembling voice, "Can I go wash the bowls first?"

"Okay."

With permission granted, she quickly stood up, gathered the dishes, and dashed into the kitchen.

Putting the bowls in the sink, Su Mo splashed water on her face, her mind in complete disarray. She started washing the dishes slowly, her mind quickly figuring out a strategy.

Outside, she heard the sound of the man pushing his chair and going upstairs.

She collected herself, finished tidying up the dishes, and walked out. There was no one downstairs. She pricked up her ears and heard the sound of the shower upstairs. Overjoyed, she opened the villa’s door and slipped away as fast as she could.

By the time Lu Chen came down in casual clothes, the place was already empty. His eyes showed no surprise; instead, he calmly took out a key and left the house.

Su Mo rushed back to her apartment building, unable to calm down for a long time. She entered the lobby and waited for the elevator, planning to hide at home first.

After all, that was five hours’ time; she didn’t have a death wish. Moreover, there was a banquet the next day that she didn’t want to miss.

"Su Mo," a slightly mature female voice called from behind her.

Su Mo turned her head, and after a moment of surprise, she greeted, "Ruo Lin?"

"Do you also live here?" Ruo Lin was followed by a young man, who also greeted Su Mo.

Su Mo nodded. She looked past Ruo Lin, her gaze landing on the man behind her, and suddenly felt he looked somewhat familiar, "Who is this?"

"He’s the newest recruit brought in by Team Leader Mo Yan, just the right level so I brought him to handle the residency," Ruo Lin explained.

"My last name is Huang, Huang Qi, a Level 3 Earth Element Superpower User," the man extended his hand.

Su Mo shook his hand briefly before letting go, her eyes lingering on his face for a few seconds before suddenly asking, "Is your mother still alive?"

Huang Qi was taken aback by her question, then his mood seemed to drop as he answered, "I’m not sure, but probably not."

"Sorry, I just thought you looked a bit like a friend of mine," Su Mo apologized with a smile. Just then, the elevator arrived, and she stepped aside to invite them in.

Huang Qi didn’t mind and nodded at her.

Back in her room, Su Mo silently recalled Huang Qi’s appearance, mulling over in her mind; indeed, he did resemble Su Niang’s face somewhat.

She took off her coat, ready to take a shower and relax.
