Chapter 238 - 236: Revenge

Chapter 238: Chapter 236: Revenge

Su Mo was pressed to his chest and nearly ran out of breath. She let out a soft sigh and the corners of her mouth curved upward, "I was fine, but if you don’t let go soon, I’m going to suffocate."

Hearing her making jokes at such a time, Lu Chen inexplicably felt relieved. Just a moment ago, his heart seemed to drop with hers, and this instinctive reaction made him realize just how precious the woman before him was.

Meanwhile, the zombies above were being forced back, temporarily blocked by the Gold Element and Earth Element superpower users who used their abilities to seal the wall.

After stepping out of his embrace, Su Mo patted her chest. To tell the truth, her heart nearly flew out as she swung across just now.

But in the face of her narrow escape from death, all that seemed trivial.

Ai Yang unconsciously stepped back, hiding behind Mo Yan.

Su Mo didn’t plan to let him off that easily. She wasn’t blind; her eyesight, sharper than a telescope’s, saw everything clearly.

"Why are you hiding?"

A short distance in front of Ai Yang, a crisp female voice could be heard, emotionless.

"Su Mo, let’s talk this out. The situation was dire just now," Mo Yan said sincerely as he stepped in front of Ai Yang.

Zhao Xiwen hung her head, a sharp glint flashing in her eyes.

"Either step aside, or I’ll make you step aside," she said.

In Su Mo’s hands, the Tang Blade, gleaming with cold light, was drawn, swinging in two arcs.

Her face bore not a trace of jest.

Li Qian sat on the ground, holding Zhao Changsheng. His gaze, from behind his glasses, met Ai Yang’s, as his spiritual power spread out in strands, binding Ai Yang’s hands and feet.

Ai Yang was terrified, but his body moved out of his control.

Su Mo was set on vengeance. Jin Han immediately led his people to retreat two steps, clearly stating his neutrality.

The soldiers beside Lu Chen whispered to him, "Admiral Lu, if we don’t leave now, the zombies below will likely surround the building."

"1 minute is all I need," Su Mo said, her ears twitching as she turned to speak to Lu Chen.

The man nodded, "Okay."

The soldier was startled; he sneaked a peek at Lu Chen and, upon seeing a trace of warmth in the otherwise cold ice of the man’s eyes, quickly lowered his head and stepped back.

Su Mo gripped the blade, pointing the tip directly under Ai Yang’s chin, "Li Qian, no need for control."

As Li Qian’s spiritual power retracted, Ai Yang’s control returned. His first act was to unleash his superpower in an attack towards Su Mo.

His crude and reckless attack path made Su Mo scoff; she easily dodged his assault and, even more, caught his fist and slammed him to the ground with a heavy shoulder throw.

And that was not enough; she was so fast Ai Yang couldn’t catch her movement.

She smashed him against the railing-free edge of the rooftop, half his body dangling precariously in mid-air.

The cold wind was howling in his ears.

"No! Let go of me! What the fuck did I do wrong?!" Ai Yang’s hands clutched desperately onto the cement, fearful of being pushed off. He could never have fathomed that a speed type superpower user could be this strong!

"What did you do wrong?" The curve on Su Mo’s lips widened. She suddenly turned her head to look at Zhao Xiwen, hidden among the crowd, "Why don’t you tell us?"

Zhao Xiwen couldn’t avoid her piercing gaze and had to walk forward with a stern expression, "I don’t understand, but I believe Admiral Lu is fair. Ai Yang just accidentally shattered the railing while trying to evade the zombies."

Her words prompted snorts of disdain from several people. Li Qian, mopping the sweat off Zhao Changsheng, spoke gently, "A Level 3 Superpower User can’t even fend off a Level 2 zombie, what a waste."

Su Mo turned her head back, her face close to Ai Yang, her voice soft yet dangerous, "Idiot, can’t even use someone as a pawn properly."

She suddenly stood up and yanked him back.

"Not killing him?" Lu Chen furrowed his brows.

Zhao Xiweng’s face immediately felt burning pain, while Mo Yan’s expression turned completely dark as the bottom of a pot. This trip had turned out to be the most disastrous one for the Fire Wolf Group, and he couldn’t help but speak out:

"Su Mo, Ai Yang didn’t do it on purpose, you shouldn’t treat him like this."

"You really are a living Bodhisattva," Su Mo chuckled, then grabbed Ai Yang by the hair and dragged him to the door that had been sealed by the superpower.

"What are you going to do!" Ai Yang’s eyes showed unwillingness, but he was already beaten to a pulp and had no intention of fighting back.

"Of course, it’s to make sure you suffer," Su Mo whispered in his ear, then stood up, raised her leg from a high angle, and ferociously stomped on his ankle.

"Ah!" Ai Yang screamed in pain, rolling his eyes back.

Jin Han was influenced by this petite woman’s fierce style, followed by his followers who unanimously agreed, "She really is the woman Zhao Changsheng, that witch, likes."

Seeing Su Mo walk away, Mo Yan and his men wanted to help Ai Yang up, but the threatening voice from behind made them stop in their tracks.

"Help him now, and you’ll all stay here."

"Su Mo! Do you really have to make an enemy out of me!" Mo Yan’s whole body burst into flames, completely falling into suppressed rage.

Su Mo couldn’t even be bothered to glance at him, walking over to Lu Chen’s side to look for a route down, "How should we get down?"

"The drainpipe," Lu Chen pointed to the rainwater pipe connected to the exterior of the rooftop, on which side the zombies below were relatively sparse, and which was also closest to the direction leading out of the city.

Su Mo nodded, then turned back: "Mo Yan, are you going back or not?"

It was a naked threat, a choice between accompanying someone in death and living.

Ruo Lin was quite straightforward as she stepped forward: "Can I go down first?"

Su Mo smiled at her, "Of course you can."

Su Mo found this woman to be very practical, and Ruo Lin equally understood the complexity of the woman in front of her. She did not want to risk her life just because she joined a group, so she climbed down the pipe cleanly and efficiently.

Jin Han nodded at Su Mo and then led his men down.

"No, don’t abandon me," Ai Yang finally understood Su Mo’s intentions, and he began to cry and repent.

But no one sympathized with him; they each all made their escape faster than the last.

The number of people on the rooftop decreased until only Su Mo, Lu Chen, and Mo Yan were left.

Zhao Xiweng also climbed up the pipe, and before leaving, she mouthed an apology to Ai Yang.

Ai Yang shouted frantically at Mo Yan, "It wasn’t me, it was Zhao Xiweng who botched it! I know I was wrong, why won’t you forgive me!"

Mo Yan looked at Ai Yang and, under the subtle pressure from Lu Chen, his fists tensed and relaxed. Eventually, he sighed and compromised, "Sorry, bro."

When the last silhouette disappeared, and only Ai Yang with a broken ankle and the zombies’ howling behind the door were left on the rooftop, he truly felt the meaning of despair.

Su Mo had always been a person who believed in an eye for an eye. If someone violated her life and boundaries, they had to pay the price.

Because only in this way, could she survive better.

Coming down from above, Su Mo immediately began clearing the zombies around her with a knife, and she didn’t forget to tell Jin Han, "That’s about enough, tell them to withdraw the superpower."
