Chapter 230: Chapter 228: Kiss in the Bamboo Forest
Su Mo turned her head to look at her, "I realize I’m really quite lucky."
Without noticing, everyone in the team had taken her into their hearts, considering her in everything they did. What did she do to deserve this?
Zhao Changsheng tugged at her hand, "This time you can’t leave me behind, I will try my best to become stronger."
"Mmm," Su Mo squeezed her hand, she too would try her hardest to protect those she wanted to protect.
In the middle of the night, Su Mo was awoken by a strong urge to urinate, having drunk too much water in the evening. She gently pulled Zhao Changsheng’s hand away, bent down to lift the curtain, and stepped out.
Li Qian turned his head and whispered softly, "What’s the matter?"
Su Mo made a gesture for silence and mouthed "going to the bathroom" before stepping out of the tent area.
Each team had someone on night watch, so she walked a bit farther away to relieve herself behind some shrubbery and then stepped back out.
The moonlight scattered silvery spots through the bamboo leaves, and the tall figure of a man leaned against a bamboo stem with his head hanging low, exhaling clouds of smoke, surrounded by a haze.
Su Mo paused in her step, then took the initiative to approach, "Not sleeping yet?"
The man’s smoking hand paused, then he lifted his eyes. The solitude in his gaze took Su Mo aback.
He suddenly dropped the cigarette to the ground and crushed it underfoot, striding towards her.
Su Mo frowned and stepped back, "Admiral Lu?"
His presence made her heart jump with fear and ache with empathy until she backed into a bamboo stem. Biting her lip, she said, "Lu Chen, what are you doing?"
"Dare to call me that now?" The man pinched her chin, forcing her to look at him.
Forced to tilt her head back, the pinch on her chin was somewhat painful, but she didn’t mind the force used. Instead, she just asked, "Haven’t you lost your memory?"
Lu Chen stared coldly at her for a long time, his gaze sliding down to her lips before he leaned in, pressing his lips to hers.
Her nostrils were filled with the strong scent of smoke from the man’s body. With her hands pressing against his chest, the taste of smoke in her mouth was uncomfortable and rushed; she wanted to push him away but found her hands locked behind her on a bamboo stem.
Her attempts to push him away seemed to only incite his anger and a rougher, more violent kiss. Su Mo, realizing she couldn’t succeed, eventually gave in, letting him plunder her mouth.
When it ended, she didn’t know, only that she was dazed, her posture had become one of hanging onto him.
She was half-embraced in his arms, breathing lightly, Lu Chen bent down to bite gently on her pearly white earlobe, "Memory loss or not, you are still my woman."
That sensation of having regained something filled his entire heart, and her soft body was enough to make him lose his sanity.
Su Mo shivered under his nibbling, her mouth still unrepentant, "We’ll see when you remember."
"I will check," he simply said in her ear.
Su Mo’s lips buried in his chest were already curled up in a wild smile; she adjusted her facial expression and struggled out of his arms, "Mo Yan and I are not involved, and stop smoking, it stinks."
When she returned to the tent, Li Qian could tell something was off. His gaze swept over her lips as he asked warmly, "Did a mosquito bite your lips while going to the bathroom?"
Su Mo touched her lips, which indeed were slightly swollen, and rolled her eyes silently, lifting the curtain to try to get some more sleep.
Li Qian’s smiling eyes froze, then he abruptly stood up, "Something’s coming!"
Upon hearing this, Su Mo immediately dived back into the tent to wake Zhao Changsheng.
Li Qian’s shouting awakened everyone in the camp.
Teams in the vicinity all issued warnings, and Su Mo pulled out her Tang Blade, her eyes alert to her surroundings, "Li Qian, what is it?"
"Reptile, very fast," Li Qian’s spiritual power expanded to the limit, "and there are many of them."
With a loud shout, Jin Han commanded, "On guard!"
Su Mo’s ears twitched, quickly distinguishing some unusual friction sounds amid the various noises—like the soft underbelly rubbing against the ground, rustling through bamboo leaves. She peered into the pitch-black bamboo forest, "Should be snakes."
Zhao Changsheng’s Thunder Whip was already out, the whip thick and crackling with electric light.
The "rustling" sound became both louder and closer, moving very quickly.
As soon as the first one showed its head, someone quickly rallied firepower to open fire.
With her exceptional vision, Su Mo caught sight of the snake. It was as thick as the mouth of a bowl, about two meters in length, with black and red scales interlaced on its body, its huge head looking extremely intimidating.
"Level 2 Mutated Snake, everyone be careful not to get bitten," Jin Han quickly identified the level. A killing wind gathered in the palm of his hand as he lunged towards the swarm of snakes.
It was Su Mo’s first time seeing Jin Han’s superpower, Wind Control—an ability that was no wonder it got him the position of team leader.
Knife in hand, she exchanged a gaze with Zhao Changsheng emerging from the tent, and then said to Li Qian, "Be careful, we’re going to clear out the snakes."
Su Mo sprinted towards the snake swarm, wielding her superpower, and was met by pythons hissing out red tongues.
Clenching the blade, her eyes narrowed, her level 4 superpower made the prediction of the snakes’ movements even clearer as the trajectories imprinted themselves in her sight.
Before the python could open its gaping maw, it had already been beheaded by Su Mo’s swift cut.
Wherever she went, blood and flesh splattered.
This group of snakes, continuously emerging from the ground or the bamboo, won in sheer numbers. Although their level wasn’t high, they couldn’t be killed off in a short amount of time.
Entering the bamboo forest, the stench of blood on Su Mo grew stronger.
Her heart suddenly clenched—an array of bamboo leaves fluttered down overhead, and without thinking, she rapidly retreated.
A huge snake head, almost as wide as two plates, fell from above.
The sharp fangs sank into the earth, and pale yellow venom bubbled up from the ground, emitting a sizzling noise.
As the snake head retracted upward, Su Mo got a clear view of its entire body.
Wrapped around two thick bamboo trunks, its enormous body coiled together, it resembled a giant screw hanging above.
In the blink of an eye, the snake spiraled rapidly down from the air, its huge tongue and gaping mouth attacking her.
"No wonder there are so many snakes," she thought, retreating while figuring out how to kill it.
The snake was long, and to avoid the spit of its venom, Su Mo dodged left and right through the bamboo forest, dragging the creature along, with numerous bamboo trunks snapping behind its massive body.
Sensing her tactic, the python halted, lifting its front half high and suddenly changing direction, rapidly slithering in an S-shape towards the crowd.
Su Mo stopped in her tracks and immediately turned to pursue. The snake was the same level as her; if it got into the crowd, many would die.
She pushed her speed to the limit and finally, in a leap, she plunged her blade into its tail—pinning the massive tail to the ground.
The python writhed madly, its head whipping back to bite at her.
Before Su Mo could escape, an immense Ice Shield materialized out of nowhere, pushing the snake’s head back several inches.
Seizing the moment, Su Mo pulled out the blade and, stepping on the snake’s tail, charged forward.
