Chapter 226: Chapter 224: Making Clothes

The one thing she certainly didn’t lack now was Crystal Stones. Su Mo gave a slight smile, "Sure, do you need to check the goods first?"

"My name is Peng Hui, please follow me," the man said, noticeably more polite, clearly thinking this was a big order.

Su Mo followed him into a partition. She had never been inside before; it was larger than she’d imagined, filled with the pelts of various mutant creatures.

After looking around, she took a gorilla pelt she’d brought back from the island and threw it on the ground, "This pelt is impervious to blades and resistant to fire and water, see if there’s anything you can do."

Peng Hui’s eyes lit up as he immediately crouched down to examine it, "This is the first time I’m seeing this type, what level is it?"

"Level 2".

"It’s this powerful at only Level 2?" Peng Hui was even more surprised. He inspected the gorilla’s body from head to toe and finally said, "It can be done. The skin can be skinned starting from the soles of the feet, though it will take some time."

"I’m not in a hurry. Make coats for seven people, I’ll give you the sizes," Su Mo said, not mincing words, as she took out the remaining nine gorillas from her System Bag, "Make a three-piece bedding set with the other three, and if there’s any left, make some gloves."

The sight of a whole ten mutant gorillas filled the entire partition, and Peng Hui was momentarily stunned, his hands also holding a handful of Level 2 Crystal Stones that Su Mo had placed there.

Su Mo shook her hand in front of his eyes, "I’m not sure how much it’s worth, so I’ll give you a deposit for now. We can settle up after the work is done."

"Okay, okay," Peng Hui nodded, still dazed, "Please give me your Identity Card. I’ll record it, and when it’s done, I’ll personally deliver it to your residence."

"Mm," said Su Mo as she passed her card.

Shown on a card indicating a Level 4 superpower, Peng Hui couldn’t help but swallow. No wonder she was so lavish.

Su Mo briefly recalled the sizes she’d taken the last time she bought them clothes, hesitated momentarily when she got to Jianxiong’s, but wrote it down anyway.

"Miss Su, how do you intend to deal with the mutant meat underneath the pelts?" Peng Hui asked, looking even more respectful now.

"I don’t eat gorilla meat. If you can’t handle it, just discard it," Su Mo said indifferently.

After all, the creature was too human-like for her taste.

Peng Hui’s eyes nearly glowed like light bulbs, "Yes, of course, take care on your way out!"

She was seen out with nods and bows. Bored, Su Mo wandered around some more, realizing that in the post-apocalypse, no fool would have the luxury to open a teahouse for brewing and selling tea.

As she walked in a circle, she suddenly remembered Jian Chunhua, who lived in the Outer Ring, wondering how the mother and son were faring.

With a change of direction, she headed towards the Outer Ring.

Now that she lived close by, just a wall away, it was quite convenient.

The guard at the gate was surprised at first when they saw Su Mo, but then let her through immediately. The news of her return had spread and reached Jiang Hai’s ears.

At that moment, Jiang Hai was feeding the baby in his arms, while Jiang Yulian stood by with a face full of maternal love.

"Report"

"Speak," Jiang Hai said without looking up, completely focused on the baby.

"Recently, many people have seen Miss Su. Today, a soldier from the Outer Ring reported, after verifying her identity, that it was indeed her."

The look of fatherly affection on Jiang Hai’s face suddenly turned cold, and Jiang Yulian stood up excitedly, "She came back early in the morning? Why didn’t you inform me!"

"The base entrance doesn’t have a record of Miss Su’s identity," the soldier reported.

Jiang Hai stood up with the child in his arms, a twitch running through his temple, "Expel her, and bring back Lu Chen’s hypnotist to be locked up first."

"You dare!" Jiang Yulian turned back, glaring at him furiously, "I tell you, Jiang Hai, if it weren’t for thinking she was dead, I would never have agreed to him being hypnotized!"

"Nonsense!" Jiang Hai was equally angry, "He’s about to get married, we can’t have any mishaps at this time!"

The infant in the swaddle began to bawl loudly due to the argument between the two.

Jiang Yulian snatched the child away, stepped back a few paces, and said angrily, "I warn you, if you dare touch a hair on that doctor or Su Mo, I’ll tell Lu Chen everything you’ve done."

For a moment, the room was filled only with the baby’s wailing, and what was rare was that Jiang Yulian didn’t even want to soothe the child, not out of lack of love, but because the birth of this child had changed too much.

Jiang Hai was so angry that his face turned red, and the soldier, uncertain whether to stay or go, finally just asked dryly, "Commander, how shall we proceed?"

"Don’t bother," Jiang Hai finally couldn’t resist her and sat down in the chair, sighing deep inside. If he really brought the original back before the banquet, then so be it.

...

A familiar stench hit her nose as she stepped out into the Outer Ring, and Su Mo quickly found the half-collapsed tent, from which mother and child conversed. Standing outside, Su Mo called out softly, "Jian Chunhua?"

A clatter of a washbasin falling to the ground came from inside, followed by the flustered figure of a woman rushing out. The sight of the familiar figure surprised her, "My... benefactor?"

With a smile, Su Mo nodded, "It’s me."

Jian Chunhua quickly looked around before hurriedly pulling Su Mo inside, her expression frantic, "Benefactor, when did you return?"

"Not long ago," Su Mo replied as she was pulled to sit on a small stool.

Jian Qing, sitting on the bed, also seemed excited, "You’re alive! I wanted to find you last time, but those soldiers had imposed a gag order."

"It’s a long story. How have you been?" Su Mo asked, smiling.

"Much better, much better," Jian Qing quickly got up and bounced in front of her, "You are incredible! I can go out to work now."

"That’s good," Su Mo smiled.

"Benefactor," Jian Chunhua also took a seat on a small, broken stool next to her, "Are you here to ask about the recent happenings at the base?"

"Yes," Su Mo nodded, "I’ve been away for a while, and I wanted to know."

Jian Chunhua pondered for a moment and glanced at Jian Qing before saying, "Nothing major really happened. When Admiral Lu returned sometime ago, there’s been talk of a power reshuffle in the upper echelons of the base, but things below have been running as usual; we haven’t been too affected."

This was within Su Mo’s expectations; after all, with the USB drive in Lu Chen’s possession, Jiang Residence had the confidence to turn the tables, "And then?"

Jian Chunhua hesitated, but in the end, it was Jian Qing who interjected, "Isn’t there a street that connects the Outer Ring with the Second Ring? The day after you left, Su Huaguang encountered a superpower user there who beat him half to death."

Surprised, Su Mo asked, "He was beaten by a superpower user?"

"I remember it quite clearly. The superpower user who hit him was missing a few front teeth, looked like a college student," Jian Qing said, keeping an eye on Su Mo’s expression.

"Ai Yang..." Su Mo’s expression darkened slightly, "Did my foolish stepfather report my name again?"

"Yes," Jian Qing sighed, "Your reputation is almost common knowledge throughout the Outer Ring, but after that, everyone was gagged."
