Chapter 222: Chapter 220: I’m Super Sweet!
Upon seeing him, Su Mo still wore that same annoyed expression, not even giving her a direct look. She bent down, rubbing the top of his head, "Forgot me so soon?"
That familiar voice made him freeze, and he looked up in surprise, "Sister Su."
"Hard for you to show any other expression," Su Mo teased as she ruffled his hair.
His small body suddenly hugged her, his arms firmly around her waist, both angry and happy, "I thought you weren’t coming back, my mom was almost gone too."
He paused for a while, adding that last phrase made Su Mo burst into laughter, the little faker with insincere words.
"I’m back," Li Qian said as he came out, his expression not too surprised, but still happy.
Su Niang was excited, grasping Su Mo’s hand and vigorously patting it, "They all said you were dead, I didn’t believe it! Look, you’re back!"
With a cheery smile, Su Mo said, "Let’s go, to celebrate my return, Zhao Changsheng is treating us to a delicious meal!"
"She is quite rich now," Li Qian was the calmest of all, touching his chin, smiling warmly.
"Let’s go, she’s probably downstairs waiting anxiously," Su Mo said, taking Ling Ye’s hand as the group descended in the elevator.
The elevator car was empty except for them. Li Qian adjusted his glasses and glanced at Su Mo, taking a moment before saying, "Lu Chen lost his memory. I sensed something was wrong when he came back."
Su Mo’s expression dimmed slightly as she swept her hair behind her ear, "I know, otherwise you all wouldn’t have moved out."
Li Qian said, "Now, Jiang Residence is dominant. When you returned, only Lu Chen and that superpower user were there; everyone thought you were dead, so Commander Jiang sealed all news about you."
Su Mo certainly knew why Jiang Hai did that, it was nothing more than wanting to ensure Lu Chen would focus on paving the way for him, she chuckled, "Don’t worry, no one can take my man."
"Ding"
When the elevator reached the ground floor, Su Mo stepped out, holding Ling Ye’s hand. In the lobby downstairs, only Zhao Changsheng stood there. She asked, "Where’s Xiaoqiao? Why didn’t she come down?"
Zhao Changsheng casually replied, "She’s on her period these days, so she didn’t come down."
"Oh," Su Mo nodded, and the group, long separated, headed straight for the tallest restaurant in sight.
"Welcome to Infinity Restaurant," the greeter at the door said respectfully.
With a grandiose air, Su Mo declared, "We’ll have the best table you’ve got!"
Zhao Changsheng quietly clutched her own Identity Card tighter.
A car was stopped by the curb. Inside the dim vehicle, a man with silver hair sat still, an unnoticeable smoke clinging to his fingertips, burnt almost to the end; he was oblivious to it, his sharp gaze following Su Mo’s figure.
Only when her figure disappeared, the car door beside him opened, and Hu Ding got in, "My lord, what’s the occasion this time? I was in the middle of official work when you summoned me here?"
The temperature in the car dropped several degrees in an instant; Hu Ding rubbed his arms, daring not to breathe too heavily, "What’s the matter?"
Lu Chen turned his head, crushed the cigarette butt, and pointed to his heart with a cold look at Hu Ding, "Are you sure, I haven’t forgotten anything?"
"What could you have forgotten?" Hu Ding’s heart tightened, and he coughed subconsciously, looking out the window, "Lu Chen, you’re fine right now."
The car fell silent again, the menacing atmosphere around the man receded, "Then let’s go have a meal."
He opened the door and stepped out.
This moodiness, compared to before, had become even more unpredictable. Hu Ding silently complained, but he still opened the door and got out.
Guided by staff, Su Mo’s group reached the top floor of the restaurant. It had to be said this place was indeed luxuriously extravagant, with floor tiles rimmed in gold and chandeliers of sparkling crystal dangling from the ceiling.
The waiter led them to a window-side area to sit down, and Su Mo was immediately drawn to the view outside after she took her seat. From here, she could overlook the entire commercial street and take in the sight of most of the base. Unconsciously, she exclaimed, "It’s so beautiful."
But it was also very solemn.
Her vision was too good, so good that in the darkness, she could see several zombies and some indistinct flesh and blood at the boundary.
"If Momo likes it then that’s good," Zhao Changsheng felt joy in his heart upon seeing her happy.
"Then I’ve got to order the most expensive!" Su Mo turned around with a giggle, picked up the menu, and said to the waiter, "Bring me the whole thing!"
Zhao Changsheng’s smile froze, "Momo, there are just five of us, can we finish it all?"
"Jianxiong ah," Su Mo blurted out without thinking, then suddenly stopped and her expression froze, "Has he, come back?"
The atmosphere became somewhat heavy all at once. Li Qian shook his head, "We’ve been keeping an eye out for your news, but..."
Su Mo’s hand trembled slightly, and her nose began to feel a bit sour, "I see."
Far away in the jungle, Jianxiong sneezed.
"Sister Su, I’m hungry," Ling Ye was the first to break the silence.
Su Mo snapped back to reality, adjusted her attitude, and then smiled at the waiter, "Then bring half of it, please!"
"Miss, aren’t you going to look at the menu?" the waiter was still a bit nervous, "The cheapest dish here costs a hundred Level 1 Crystal Stones."
Su Mo glanced at Zhao Changsheng, who immediately took out his Identity Card with a show of wealth, "Swipe this!"
What a big order! The waiter’s face lit up with surprise and he gave them a 90-degree bow before rushing off to call the chef to prepare the dishes.
Soon, several steaming cups of tea were brought to the table, along with towels for hand cleaning that the waiter had enthusiastically prepared.
"Changsheng, how come you’re so rich now?" Su Mo rested her chin on her hands and asked curiously.
"She’s been on a lot of missions since her upgrade," Li Qian sipped his tea, which fogged up his glasses with its steam.
"Momo, I’m Level 3 now," Zhao Changsheng lifted her chin, a look of pride on her face.
Su Mo praised her as expected, "Not bad, not bad."
"But I’ve only just found out that it’s not easy for Thunder power users to level up, so the treatment after promotion is very special," Zhao Changsheng seemed excited, "The Crystal Stone rewards for missions are all doubled."
"No wonder you’re so rich," Su Mo leaned in close to her, "Got a girlfriend yet?"
"This Miss Zhao’s girlfriend looks so much like Miss Su," Su Niang said as she held her tea.
Zhao Changsheng’s face stiffened, "I found her in the Outer Ring and brought her back."
As though worried that Su Mo might misunderstand, she grabbed her hand and said earnestly, "I don’t like her that way, it’s not what you think."
Realizing her slip of the tongue, Su Niang hurried to make amends, "Look at my big mouth, don’t mind me, don’t mind."
Just then, several dishes were served, and Su Mo smoothed things over, "It’s fine, as long as you like her, I won’t mind."
Zhao Changsheng looked up at her, relieved but also a bit sad when she saw that Su Mo really didn’t mind; however, she knew the truth better than anyone.
The "half book" of dishes actually took up the entire table; most of them were meat dishes from mutated creatures, supplemented by a few bases-cultivated vegetables and seasonal produce. What was rare is that there were even several bottles of fine red wine.
