The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 219 - 217: Return

Chapter 219: Chapter 217: Return

Lu Jin’s return was unobstructed, and he wasn’t even required to go through a check before he was allowed to pass.

The car stopped at the Lu Family’s doorstep, and Lu Jin gently lifted Su Mo, striding inside.

"Son!" Fang Lian’s hair had turned significantly white during the days he hadn’t seen her. She felt a great relief seeing Lu Jin approaching from afar.

Lu Jin merely shot her a glance, and Fang Lian immediately fell silent, her face awkward, "Let’s... let’s go inside first."

After Su Mo completed her upgrade, she showed no signs of waking, so Lu Jin carried her all the way to the room.

Fang Ya had just come out neatly dressed with Lu Youwei when they encountered the approaching Lu Jin, the person in his arms giving Fang Ya a huge shock, "You... this... is this Su Mo?!"

She could die for her.

All that responded to them was the sound of a door being closed.

Su Mo was laid on a simple large bed, and after the man’s fingers lingered on her body for a moment, he strode out.

Fang Ya’s heart was almost at breaking point, bewildered by the situation.

After Lu Jin returned, Lu Youwei went straight to the room to wait for him.

The moment he entered, a cup was smashed to pieces near his feet.

Lu Youwei’s face trembled with anger, "The documents were taken by them! Why did you only come back now!"

No greetings, just concerns about interests.

Lu Jin seemed accustomed to this, but the malice in his eyes forced Lu Youwei to step back. He pulled out a chair to sit down, "Has Li Chuan come back?"

"I was about to ask you," he sat back in the chair, his face flushed with anger.

Lu Jin curved into a cold sneer, "You should thank your precious son."

Lu Youwei paused for a moment, then frowned, "What do you mean?"

Lu Jin abruptly stood up, the chair clattering a few steps back, his gaze loomed down imperiously, his eyes inscrutable, "He tried to kill me, didn’t you know?"

"What?!" Lu Youwei’s hand trembled, "Is that why the documents weren’t retrieved?"

Lu Jin nodded noncommittally, his emotions well concealed.

"Is he... dead?" Lu Youwei’s voice quivered.

"Dead," Lu Jin’s smile vanished, his gaze filled with hostility, "The original sample is still in our possession, and I brought back a live one too."

"A live one!" Lu Youwei’s eyes widened in shock, then he rubbed his hands together, his gaze confused, "The research value of a live one is strongest, we now have leverage to negotiate with Jiang Hai."

Lu Jin’s eyes mocked, he stood up to leave but was stopped by Lu Youwei, "Since you’ve brought Lu Chen’s woman here, just send her back too."

He clenched his jaw, a storm brewing in his eyes, "Let him come himself."

Only then did Lu Youwei stand up, walked over with a bad tone, "Lu Chen is currently taking over everything from Jiang Hai, his woman must be sent back."

Lu Jin shot him a look in response, "They’re having a banquet over there in a week?"

Lu Youwei nodded.

Lu Jin pondered for a while then asked, "Has there been no one from their side looking for Su Mo?"

Lu Youwei hadn’t paid much attention to Lu Chen’s woman, merely stating, "No movement, everything was locked down once he returned."

"That’s quite interesting," Lu Jin chuckled, his gaze icy, "Is Lu Yuan’s injury better? We’ll find an opportunity to send her over then."

"Are you planning to handle Lu Yuan to Lu Chen?!"

"A safety measure on our original."

Without allowing Lu Youwei any room to argue, Lu Jin strode away.

The Lu Family’s survival in the apocalyptic world wasn’t just on Lu Youwei’s own, given he lacked superpowers. Most of the young soldiers did not obey him.

Lu Youwei was fully aware of this, and he had no control over his son who had completely escaped his clutches. He slumped back into his chair, eyes thoughtful, but thankfully, with his return, the situation could be controlled.

At the mention of Li Chuan’s death, a wave of darkness passed over his eyes, mixed with a heavy sigh and a trace of guilt.

Lu Jin didn’t go back to his room but went straight to the dark room.

When Su Mo woke up, it was nearly afternoon, and a strange man’s scent filled her nostrils. She abruptly opened her eyes and sat up in bed.

The large floor-to-ceiling windows were wide open, letting in a light breeze.

She looked at her unspoiled clothes and breathed a sigh of relief as she got out of bed. The room’s furnishings were simple, but they were filled with scents she disliked.

She drew back the curtains, and outside, the familiar lawn and women with children passed by.

Joy lit up her eyes. She had returned.

She couldn’t wait to open the door. Outside was a long hallway with several rooms on each side.

She stepped out and quickly headed downstairs.

"Oh, you’re up?"

Behind her, a disdainful, coquettish voice.

Su Mo stopped and turned around. Smiling upon seeing who it was, she said, "Lu Yuan, are you finally healed?"

"How did you know?" Lu Yuan’s expression turned to shock.

Su Mo inwardly sneered. It wasn’t hard to guess. Lu Jin was so volatile, and the way she was dragged away during dinner the other day made it clear she had been beaten.

She smiled threateningly, "I don’t mind adding some new injuries."

"Don’t get cocky, Brother Lu will be mine sooner or later," Lu Yuan said, hands on her hips, defiance written all over her face.

The smile on Su Mo’s face froze, and she suddenly sensed something unusual. In a blink, she was beside her, her aura fully unleashed, pressing her against the wall, "What did you say?"

Lu Yuan’s legs immediately went weak. She looked at her in terror. How had she advanced in power in just a month? Overwhelmed by her aura, she stammered, "Brother Lu came back but didn’t look for you. Uncle Jiang even said he has amnesia."

Su Mo noticed her shifty gaze, obviously not telling the whole truth.

She shoved her aside and continued downstairs.

Lu Yuan gasped for air, but her eyes sparkled with triumph. Her informant had never been wrong. Even if it was amnesia, it was an opportunity sent from heaven, wasn’t it?

Downstairs, Fang Lian and Fang Ya were sitting together, a rare sight.

Su Mo frowned. Were they watching her?

"Miss Su," Fang Ya quickly stood up as she saw her approach.

"I’m very busy," Su Mo felt an unstoppable disgust upon seeing this woman again, who always pretended to be a loving mother.

"We just wanted to ask, what is your relationship with our two sons?" Fang Lian joined in from the other side, both women cornering her.

Su Mo was at a loss for words at the question, "I’m lying in bed with Lu Chen, what do you think our relationship is?"

So what if he really had amnesia? She had plenty of ways to make him remember.

Fang Ya actually seemed relieved, but Fang Lian was as relentless as ever—no wonder Lu Yuan had learned it from her.

Su Mo forcefully pushed Fang Lian back a few steps, her gaze icy, "Eldest Madam Fang, why do you care so much about my relationship with your son? Did you not nudge him toward hell with your own hands?"

"What... did you say?" Fang Lian’s eyes met Su Mo’s, which seemed to pierce through to her soul, and panic surged within her.

Su Mo gave her a stern look and swung the door open, leaving.

After crossing the lengthy corridor, she could go find him.
