Chapter 206: Chapter 204: Escape (2)

Lu Chen’s gaze was like a sword emitting a cold light aimed at Lu Jin, filled with an intense warning.

Lu Jin, provoked, saw a bloodthirsty glint flash in his eyes. He forcefully suppressed his anger, conjured a medicine jar in his hand, took several pills, and stepped back slowly.

Now that their Levels were equal, their statuses had naturally undergone a change.

Lu Chen stood at the cliff’s edge, roughly judged their location, let everyone rest for a moment by the cliffside, and then they all set off into the rainforest.

Lu Jin ordered his men to follow.

Su Mo was forced to take obstacle-clearing medicine by Lu Chen. Jianxiong counted the numbers, feeling bitter inside; nearly a hundred people had now dwindled to just a few.

"Jianxiong, can your leg still hold up?"

Su Mo’s voice sounded somewhat weak.

Jianxiong chuckled, his rough voice saying, "This is nothing. In the past, my arm was even chopped off."

With his sister’s miraculous system, he wasn’t worried at all, though of course, he wouldn’t speak such words openly.

To protect Su Mo’s secret, he had endured with a charred leg until now, not even taking a sip of Biluochun Tea.

Su Mo felt a swelling acidity in her heart. He truly deserved to be called her brother.

The group moved swiftly through the forest.

Su Mo asked, "Do we need to return the way we came?"

"No need, we’re already by the shore. Just circle around," Lu Chen replied to her.

"Okay," Su Mo nodded, feeling a bit embarrassed to be carried by him all this while.

Although they were already on the edge, it still took them two days to walk out of there.

The only relief was that they didn’t encounter any large creatures on the way.

They returned to where the Cannibal Flowers were. The flowers were still there but shredded to pieces—no need to guess who had done it.

When they emerged from the rainforest, it was already so dark that they couldn’t see their hands in front of them.

Two large ships were docked on the shore.

Seeing the commotion, the people Lu Jin had placed on his ship came down immediately to greet them.

Of course, there was also a familiar figure standing on the gangplank—it was Li Chuan.

As Lu Jin had said, without his orders, the ship wouldn’t sail. Su Mo couldn’t see Li Chuan’s face clearly, but she knew his days were numbered.

Su Mo was brought onto her own ship by Lu Chen, where four dead bodies lay sprawled across the deck—soldiers she had rescued from the virus.

She clenched her fists, furious inside: "He didn’t spare a single one!"

Jianxiong was placed on the deck, and Sun Cheng, after searching with his men and not finding Yang Jianguo, returned to report, "No one."

Lu Chen, holding Su Mo, sat down on the deck and said in a cold tone, "Don’t bother looking, he’s dead."

Su Mo’s fists tightened, the flames of rage within her soaring. She truly wanted to kill him, but just like Lu Jin said, they couldn’t do that. The sole boatman was under their control, and to return, they had to keep him alive.

All her anger eventually turned into a sigh, "Sigh."

She had broken her promise to that child.

The sea breeze on the deck was blowing fiercely and was cold. Lu Chen ordered everyone to enter the cabin below to shelter from the wind. He carried Su Mo into the bridge, and Jianxiong limped in as well.

No one was watching her at the moment, so Su Mo quickly squatted beside Jianxiong to examine his foot. With a touch of distress, she handed over a bottle and said, "Such severe burns, some necrotic flesh needs to be trimmed away."

Lu Chen took a piece of clothing out of the Space and tossed it to Jianxiong, then he gathered a slice of Ice Blade in his hand, "I’ll do it."

Su Mo stepped back a few paces, and Jianxiong stuffed the clothing into his mouth and said indistinctly, "Let’s start!"

As the necrotic tissue was scraped off, Jianxiong couldn’t help but groan in pain. One muscular leg had now become half the size of the other, intact one.

Su Mo passed him some Biluochun Tea and wiped his sweat, "Drink up."

After gulping down several mouthfuls, as flesh rapidly began to regrow on his calf, the itching sensation that reached the bottom of his heart made Jianxiong resist the urge to scratch his leg, "So itchy."

Lu Chen pressed down on his hand with a cold voice, "If you don’t want to go through this again, endure it."

"Boss..." Tears nearly sprang from the itchiness in Jianxiong’s eyes.

A burly man acting coquettishly really was...

Su Mo couldn’t help but laugh aloud.

She had Lu Chen bring out the dishes she had prepared at the base—Bok Choy, mutated pork, rice Buns... The three of them secretly feasted together, a series of buffs sounded in their minds, and the warm feeling in their stomachs was indeed much more comforting.

She thought about sending some to the superpower users confined at the bottom of the cabin, but this thought was fleeting. Though she felt rather selfish, that’s just the way the world worked, wasn’t it?

After the smell had dissipated somewhat, Lu Chen went down to the bottom of the cabin to check on those superpower users. Their backpacks had been lost to varying degrees, and he was going to bring them some biscuits and other food to eat.

On the ship next to Lu Jin’s, Li Chuan was restrained, and Lu Jin drew another dose of medicine and injected it into his arm.

Bound to a chair, Li Chuan watched as Lu Jin entered and took off his clothes, revealing a brutally bruised and terrifying stomach, much like his current complexion, "Surprised?"

"Heh," Li Chuan sat there, smiling brilliantly, his eyes showing not a hint of fear.

He had long been prepared for the worst, though he had still failed.

Lu Jin punched toward Li Chuan’s face, letting out the deeply suppressed violence within him, "You and your homewrecker mother are alike, disgusting."

The word "homewrecker" ignited the rage in Li Chuan’s chest, yet the smile on his lips grew even wider, "How so, aren’t we the same?"

That smile was truly infuriating. Another punch, and Li Chuan’s mouth was hit askew.

Even as Li Chuan passed out, Lu Jin did not stop.

A subordinate standing outside came in to remind him, "Young Master, he is Commander Lu’s son."

These words snapped Lu Jin back to reality, a red glint flashed in his eyes, "You’re right, he can’t die yet."

Having beaten him to this extent, Lu Jin finally felt a sense of release. He stopped hitting and stood up, his voice hoarse, "Tomorrow, ask Lu Chen to come here."

With the USB drive in his hand, the only option for now was to head back first.

Su Mo sat in the cockpit, gazing at the serene yet deadly island in the distance, deep in thought. She suddenly recalled what Jiang Zhou had said to her and murmured to herself, "Su Yao... who is he?"

"What did you say, sister?" Jianxiong was still enduring the itch on his leg, but he hadn’t missed Su Mo’s words.

Su Mo turned her head to look at him, "Su Yao... who is he? A scientific researcher?"

He said, she is his daughter.

Jianxiong shook his head, "Probably have to ask Vice Commander Jiang back at the base. Not sure if Dr. Xiao who’s always by his side is still alive, but he should know."

"Dr. Xiao?" Su Mo was puzzled.

"Jiang Residence has a satellite on Earth," Jianxiong pointed above his head, "He leads the operation, a national-level figure, involved in all other fields."
