Lu Chen’s eyes held a hint of surprise, "Healed?"

Su Mo nodded with a smile, enduring the pain as she gestured for him to sit beside her. Lu Chen’s long, icy fingers removed the cork and brought it to her lips.

She only drank half, pushing the rest back to him.

"I’m fine," Lu Chen secured the cork and let Su Mo tuck it into her System Bag.

Before she had time to think, the bones in her abdomen began to shift back into place.

With each inch pulled from her organs, mending her internal injuries, Su Mo nearly rolled off the chair in pain, "Ah!"

The agony of her bones being meticulously put back together made her wish for death.

Lu Chen held her down, her screams piercing his heart, as if even his own bones started to ache,

"Behave, Momo. Just bear it a little longer," he embraced her, imprisoning her in his arms, and cooed to her over and over again.

For the first time, Su Mo heard him call her that way. She was stunned for a few seconds before the overwhelming pain drowned out her senses, and uncontrolled tears of physiological distress fell.

Yes, she was crying from the pain.

Even evolution had not hurt this much.

To help her wound heal better, the man held her tightly. He kissed the corner of her eye, consuming her tears into his mouth as a sense of heartache overflowed from his eyes.

As the last bone snapped back into place, the pain finally began to subside. She leaned weakly in the man’s embrace, listening to the strong and powerful beats of his heart.

"Feeling better?"

"Yeah, just no strength," she didn’t even want to move a finger.

"I arrived late," Lu Chen pressed his face to the top of her head, holding her tight.

"Not late," Su Mo said softly, "As long as you’re here, it’s never too late."

She buried her face in his chest, the corners of her mouth curling up, her nose filled with his unique scent. He was still alive and well, and that was wonderful.

"Su Mo."

"Hmm?"

"After we return, I’ll marry you."

"Hmm... What?" Su Mo froze. Her eyes reddened and her nose felt blocked as she mumbled, "There isn’t even a civil affairs bureau now."

"There will be," Lu Chen said, gently patting her back, tenderness in his eyes as he kissed the top of her head.

"I’m only twenty," Su Mo said tearfully, still managing to state her age amidst her emotions.

Lu Chen lifted her chin, his expression serious, "Do you think I’m old? I’m only seven years older than you."

"No," Su Mo took the initiative to pull his neck down for a kiss on his lips, "You’re so good-looking, I’d like you even if you were forty."

Pleased by her words, the man gently savored a kiss on her lips.

After fixing her disheveled hair, the frost-covered glass door that was sealed tight finally opened. Still very weak, Su Mo was cradled in Lu Chen’s arms, the bloodstains on her body still shockingly evident. Jianxiong stood up with Sun Cheng’s help, "Boss! Sister!"

Su Mo greeted him, wincing at the sight of his leg injury, "That leg..."

"It’s nothing!" Jianxiong waved his hands repeatedly, his heart aching from the screams he heard inside.

"It’s time to go," Lu Chen said coldly.

"What’s going on?" Just as Su Mo asked, Li Chuan’s face appeared on the other side of the door.

"My beloved brothers, finally all here, hahaha," Li Chuan laughed brazenly, his alluring face brimming with excitement, "I hope you have fun inside."

He had been hiding and following them all the way here with only one purpose in mind.

When Li Chuan’s gaze met Su Mo’s, it carried a hint of pity: "I didn’t want to involve innocent people, but some things are unavoidable, right?"

"Lu Chen, if you’d cooperated with me earlier, wouldn’t you have avoided death?" Li Chuan said to himself.

Su Mo found this odd until she heard the panicked shouts from behind her: "The nutrient solution is leaking! They are going to come alive!"

Lu Jin’s gaze fixed on Li Chuan, his eyes filled with intense murderous intent and madness, "Are you taking revenge on me?"

Su Mo turned her gaze to Lu Jin, her handsome eyebrows knotted tightly, "Aren’t those two brothers?"

Lu Chen indeed knew the secret; he held Su Mo and led the others back, "Li Chuan’s mother has died."

He set her down on a chair and spread a map out on the table. Then, his hands manipulated the controls; he seemed very calm, "Such a laboratory must have a passage leading to the surface; it can’t possibly have just one door."

The nutrient solution was down to just one percent, and all the glass containers upstairs had begun to crack. Flames raged in Lu Jin’s chest; he wanted to escape, to tear him to pieces, he wanted to kill him!

However, Li Chuan had already disappeared without a trace.

The door connecting the laboratory and the viewing room wouldn’t close either, due to Li Chuan’s interference.

All they could do was to descend to the control console below, to avoid the sharp edge.

"Bang clang"

It was the sound of one glass container after another shattering, unnervingly clear even from below.

Someone went to close the door of the control room and sealed it with a thick wall using Earth superpower.

They hoped it could hold off the threat for some time.

They all knew clearly that once the bodies above were depleted, the smell of blood from their wounds would be enough to attract a massive swarm of monsters.

Among the rows of control keys, Lu Chen finally found a passage—a pipe for discharging chemical waste that led to the sea, but it was under the external elevator shaft.

"We need to get out," Lu Chen stood up and picked up Su Mo again.
