The Chef Rules the Last Days -
Chapter 193 - 191: Cannibal Flower
Chapter 193: Chapter 191: Cannibal Flower
Realizing the urgency, she swiftly chopped off the wood vine and took a few steps to the side.
"Lu Chen" was getting closer and closer to her, Su Mo didn’t hesitate and directly threw her blade at the man.
With a whistling sound, the Tang Blade pierced straight through the man’s heart, impaling him completely.
Su Mo watched the blood splatter from "Lu Chen’s" chest with a heart full of dense, prickling pain, knowing it definitely wasn’t him, but her heart still ached.
In just a few seconds, the scene before her eyes shifted, replaced by the most real imagery.
In the air, there were tiny, robe-covered creatures everywhere. They had been affected the moment they entered the rainforest, these robes having hallucinogenic effects.
Just a few meters in front of Su Mo, a five-meter tall flower with an odd shape appeared before her.
There were five huge crimson petals covered in white dots, and one of them had the blade she had just thrown embedded in it.
In the center of the flower’s mouth was a circular abyss filled with sharp fangs, and a pair of human feet hung out, but the rest along with the bones and flesh were nowhere to be seen.
The Cannibal Flower!
At this moment, the closest to it was Jianxiong!
Su Mo’s heart tightened and she immediately yelled, "Jianxiong!"
He seemed not to hear her, his face red as he walked stiffly forward, the massive flower head in front of him already drooping, seemingly waiting for its prey to walk right into its mouth.
"Damn it!" She looked around and noticed Lu Chen standing there with furrowed brows, an Ice Blade already formed in his hand, but he wasn’t taking any action yet.
Even Fang Xia, the Spiritual Superpower User, had not broken free.
In the entire scene, only she had woken up first. With Jianxiong’s situation looking dire, Su Mo had no choice but to rush towards the mouth of the flower.
She pushed her speed to the limit, surrounded by wood vines that sprouted from the soil like a woven net attempting to entangle her.
Her ability to predict played to its utmost, narrowly dodging the net. The giant flower, replete with serrated margins, hung right overhead. Su Mo kicked at Jianxiong’s butt, "Wake the hell up!"
"Ouch!" Feeling the pain, Jianxiong snapped back to reality.
The foul stench descending from above made him instinctively look up, as the disgusting mucus from the flower’s mouth dripped precisely onto his face.
Jianxiong let out a massive roar, "Fuck!"
He shot up to three meters tall, his hands holding up the flower’s head to stop it from swallowing him whole.
Seeing this, Su Mo quickly pulled the Tang Blade from the flower’s head, "Hold on! I’ll go wake the others."
"Sister!" Jianxiong adopted a horse stance, the mucus from the flower’s mouth nearly clogging his nostrils shut.
Just as Su Mo was about to call Lu Chen, she saw bloodstains on the man’s wrist, but his eyes had regained clarity.
Worriedly glancing at him, she turned and ran to find Sun Cheng.
As usual, she kicked him in the butt.
Pain could pull people out of peril, she realized this when the injury on her back from being tied to the tree helped her wake up so quickly.
This powerful kick jolted Sun Cheng awake, who immediately noticed Jianxiong under the Cannibal Flower and exclaimed, "I’ll burn it!"
Flames covered his entire body, even his hair stood on end tinted with fire.
Su Mo was about to nod, but Lu Chen blocked him with an Ice Shield levitated into the air, "You go wake the others and retreat, I’ve got this."
Seeing his thoughtful expression, Sun Cheng knew he had a plan and withdrew his flames to go wake the others.
Jianxiong was right at the heart of it, as the Cannibal Flower seemed to grow impatient, its five large petals beginning to close slowly.
Lu Chen’s feet froze the ground, and from the ice surface, Ice Blades with barbs sprouted rapidly towards the Cannibal Flower. Meanwhile, he called out to Jianxiong, "Get out of the way!"
Jianxiong, who was almost overwhelmed, managed to glance at the ice crystals hurtling towards him and immediately shrank back to his normal state, hands loosening as he rolled to the side.
The ice crystal precisely stabbed into the cavity of the Cannibal Flower but did not completely pierce through it; the five closing petals were instead slashed open by the sharp barbs.
The crowd retreated several steps, leaving the wood vines of the Cannibal Flower to dance wildly in the air.
This Mutant Monster had no real lethal power, relying entirely on illusions to lure its prey.
Su Mo pulled Lu Chen’s hand and hurriedly had him drink the Biluochun Tea. The man took out a towel for Su Mo to tie it around, and after drinking the tea, the wound under the cloth rapidly healed.
Jianxiong ran back, tumbling and crawling; he wiped away the mucus that was pasted over his eyes, "Are you okay, boss? Why didn’t you kill it?"
"There’s still use for it," Lu Chen gathered everyone to one side, and after a headcount, they realized one soldier was missing.
Su Mo’s expression darkened as she immediately thought of that pair of legs, "I saw it, he’s dead."
There was a moment of silence among the crowd; they had just entered the forest, and already one had perished.
"Let’s move on," Lu Chen said, covering his wrist, his expression stern.
Su Mo glanced at the Cannibal Flower still flapping behind them. The presence of the robe-like creatures around was growing stronger, and the team had to cover their mouths.
She looked at Lu Chen and sort of understood the purpose of doing so; if Lu Jin and the others had also successfully made it ashore, then this was the first gift they had left behind.
As the vanguard, one must always leave something behind for those following.
After about two hours of walking, they finally left the group of robe-like creatures behind.
Lu Chen instructed a short break of ten minutes before continuing the journey.
He spread out the map on a large moss-covered boulder, and Su Mo stepped forward for a look, "How much farther do we have?"
"Two days at best," Lu Chen closed the map.
Su Mo glanced curiously at his hand wrapped in the towel, "What did you see back then?"
The man looked down, his gaze deep, "You."
Su Mo was puzzled, "Then why did you cut your wrist?"
The man ruffled her hair; he wouldn’t tell her that even the sight of her suicide as a mere shadow in front of him was something he couldn’t accept.
His greatest demon was the fear of losing her.
Seeing he wouldn’t answer, Su Mo’s lips moved slightly as she pointed to her heart and whispered, "I saw you too, but I knew it wasn’t you, so I killed it."
"Well done," Lu Chen said seriously.
Su Mo pulled his hand, having a vague idea, "Don’t do that again in the future."
"Mmm."
She turned her head to see Jianxiong still wiping the mucus from his head, and she said to him with a mischievous look, "What did you just see? Your face is all mottled with black and red."
Jianxiong scratched his head, his eyes darting about, "Nothing."
"Ha, was it a woman?" Su Mo leaned in closer, only to be pushed away two steps by the stench of the mucus.
"No!" Jianxiong’s voice grew louder, almost as if he was ready to run for his life.
