The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 187 - 185: Piranha

Chapter 187: Chapter 185: Piranha

She retched a few times then leaned directly over the railing, unable to hold back any longer, and threw up.

Lu Chen soothed her back, his eyes filled with distress, "I’ll have someone take you back by boat."

In such a state, she wouldn’t be able to spend a week at sea.

Su Mo wiped her mouth, repeatedly waving her hands, "I’ll adapt in a bit."

Receiving her stubborn gaze, Lu Chen had no choice but to call Jianxiong over to make up a bed in the cabin.

Jianxiong saw how weak she was and hurriedly got the bedroom ready then called her, "Sister, go sleep in the room."

It wasn’t until she had nothing left to vomit that Lu Chen carried Su Mo into the cabin below.

Her head buzzing non-stop, she lay down on the bed but didn’t forget to grab Lu Chen’s sleeve, "Don’t send me back by boat while I’m asleep."

Lu Chen took off her shoes, tucked her under the blanket, and sat down beside her, pinching her face, "Sleep, I won’t send you back."

Su Mo then drifted off to sleep, exhausted from the vomiting.

The man sat by her side for a while to make sure she was asleep, then stood up and walked out. Many soldiers and superpower users stood by the railing, on one hand vigilant, on the other, intimidated by the ink-black sea.

It was their first time seeing such a sea.

Fang Xia, a Spiritual Superpower User, came forward to report.

"All is safe for now, no movement from the sea floor."

Lu Chen, "Keep a close watch."

Behind their ship, a large sailing ship with a dark exterior like wrought iron was gradually approaching them, eventually moving alongside them.

Li Chuan waved at them from the ship above.

Lu Chen didn’t even spare him a glance but entered the helm and focused on the map, writing and drawing on it.

By the time Su Mo woke up, the room was already pitch-black. The swaying cabin made her sit up, using the bedframe for support—her head felt dizzy and heavy, but the severe nausea had subsided, and she felt much better.

Next to her, there was a cup of steaming hot water, clearly, someone had just been there a short while ago.

Su Mo picked up the cup and took a sip, bringing a wave of warmth to her empty stomach.

Outside, there were snippets of conversation mixed with astonishment, as a dazzling blue light suddenly shone through the small window beside the cabin.

Out of curiosity, she put on her shoes and made her way out the door, leaning against the walls.

Lu Chen and others were gathered together, observing the phenomenon from the seabed.

As soon as Su Mo went out, the salty sea breeze entered her nostrils, and the pitch-black sea, illuminated by clusters of blue microorganisms, glowed with a majestic and dazzling blue light against the pure black water.

When Lu Chen turned around and saw her, he quickly came over, "Feeling better?"

Su Mo nodded and smiled at him, then turned her gaze back to the sea, "Is that flagellated algae?"

It was a creature she had only seen in movies.

"Right," the man led her to the bow of the boat, the highest point where they could clearly see what lay ahead.

Looking down, Su Mo saw the originally pitch-black sea, as dark as ink, glowing brightly under the influence of the flagellated algae’s blue light. The seabed was so clearly revealed it was like a dazzling underworld paradise.

"It’s so beautiful," she murmured.

"Hmm," Lu Chen’s gaze was profound as he draped a coat over her shoulders, "Go inside, it’s cold out here."

Just as Su Mo was about to nod, a shout came from the Spiritual Superpower User behind them, "There’s a situation!"

Everyone was on alert, all eyes fixed ahead. Su Mo looked up into the distance where the endless black ocean surface was disrupted by countless blue lights scattered by a group of huge black objects.

Amidst the blue creatures, those dark masses stood out starkly.

Lu Chen’s eyes darkened as he immediately took Su Mo’s hand and led her off the ramp to the center.

The Spiritual Superpower User quickly analyzed the species, "It should be a group of Mutated Fish."

Yang Jianguo had been steering the ship, but now he stopped and said, "Let’s stop here and wait for them to pass; they can’t get up here."

Su Mo immediately took out her Tang Blade, watching the dark mass rapidly approaching them.

On a ship not far from theirs, Lu Jin encountered the same swarm of Mutant Fish, and his ship also came to a halt.

The two silent vessels stood on the sea’s surface, waiting as the two enormous things quickly approached the ships.

To say they weren’t afraid would be a lie; if their hulls were breached, they would all be annihilated.

Su Mo narrowed her eyes, her pupils constricting as she locked onto the approaching school of fish. Her exceptional vision allowed her to see those oval-shaped, laterally compressed fish, their sharp teeth and the spikes protruding from their lower jaws terrifying her.

"Lu Chen, I didn’t see this species in the documents yesterday," Su Mo’s voice carried a weight to it as she meticulously sifted through the data she had seen yesterday in the conference room, finding no match.

Lu Chen glanced at her and then coldly commanded Yang Jianguo in the pilot house, "Circle around them, full speed ahead!"

Yang Jianguo was startled but quickly stuck his head out and shook it, "That will enrage the school of Mutant Fish; they have bad tempers."

"I don’t want to repeat myself," Lu Chen’s phoenix eyes turned icy, his invisible pressure bearing down on Yang Jianguo.

The suffocating sensation of death caused an old man in his sixties to feel like his eyes were about to pop out due to a lack of oxygen. He quickly conceded, "I’m going! I’m going!"

The massive ship resumed its journey, speeding up to the maximum.

Seeing their abnormal behavior, Lu Jin immediately ordered his subordinates to go full speed and follow suit.

Both vessels planned to circumvent the group of creatures.

However, Su Mo felt a growing sense of inner crisis, making her somewhat agitated. She knew in her heart that this was only the first day, and they were already about to fight a fierce battle.

Now the school of Mutant Fish showed no intention of letting them pass peacefully; in fact, they were approaching even faster.

Lu Chen flatly said, "Prepare for battle."

The dazzling blue light was scattered by the school of fish, and on the dark sea surface, the sound of countless fish reaching the surface and flicking their tails, the splashing noise, was a nerve-racking stimulus for everyone.

In the end, as the fish reached the bottom of the ship, everyone’s heart leapt.

The side of the ship was lined with soldiers and superpower users ready to attack at any moment.

The school of Mutated Fish encircled the base of the ship, swimming in tight circles around and around, and finally, a fish from the very bottom, its tail moving frantically, leapt out of the water and lunged toward a soldier’s face with its sharp mouth open.

Already on Level 1 alert, the soldier immediately raised his gun and blew apart half the fish’s body, leaving only half a head flopping on the deck.

The head of the fish was a bloody red with two white eyes, unsurprisingly pupil-less.

Seeing this, Yang Jianguo was startled even though he had seen mutations before; his decades of fishing experience still allowed him to recognize the species at a glance, "It’s a piranha!"
