Chapter 172: Chapter 169: The Scorching Heat in the Palm
Miss Su said, "I’m going to visit the Jiang Residence tonight to see Aunt Jiang."
"Okay," Lu Chen nodded. There wasn’t much time left for them, and the baby inside needed to be taken out soon.
As night fell, Zhao Changsheng didn’t come downstairs for dinner. Ling Ye was feeling much better, so Su Niang voluntarily cooked a table full of dishes for everyone.
Miss Su’s sea cucumber was also ready to be collected; she stewed Crucian Carp and Ginger Soup and sea cucumber porridge, and after dinner, she took the food and went to the Jiang Residence with Lu Chen.
Jiang Yulian, who had stopped taking her medication, looked better day by day, benefiting from the Gastric Care, and she was eating much more than before.
Every time Jiang Hai saw her increasingly rosy complexion through the monitor, his eyes expressed complex emotions.
When Jiang Yulian saw Miss Su coming, she cheerfully called out to her, "Is that Miss Su today?"
Miss Su smiled as she went over and placed the items on the bedside table, "I hope I’m not late. I brought you some food."
"Not at all," Jiang Yulian, whose dinner had been prepared by Miss Su recently, had been eagerly waiting.
"Sea cucumber porridge and Crucian Carp and Ginger Soup, although they are all liquid-based, they are beneficial," Miss Su said as she took out the porridge and prepared to feed her.
Jiang Yulian quickly took over, "I can do it myself; I’m not disabled."
She scooped up the porridge and was stunned by the large size of the sea cucumber, "Such a big sea cucumber, where did you get it from?"
It’s known that the sea water is now polluted, and seafood mutations occur, making it uneatable.
Miss Su smiled and answered off-topic, "Logically, you are past your due date. When are you planning to give birth?"
Jiang Yulian was taken aback, then distractedly changed the subject, "I’m not sure. I have to ask the doctor of the Jiang Residence about that."
Hearing this, Lu Chen walked outside, "I’ll go call them."
Miss Su nodded and gently touched the prominent belly, "After this month’s treatment, you must give birth."
By that time, both she and Lu Chen would not be there; it would be safer to have the baby under supervision.
The doctor was quickly brought over; she was a middle-aged woman who was initially scared upon being summoned. Upon hearing it was about the due date, she relaxed:
"The fetal heart rate monitoring results over the past few days have been very strong. The mother’s nutrition supplementation is unprecedented; the baby is very healthy."
Miss Su looked up at her, "Can she give birth this month?"
The doctor glanced at the record book in hand and then replied, "If she continues to maintain this state, the baby can be delivered by cesarean section at the end of the month."
"Can’t I give birth naturally?" Jiang Yulian put the porridge down and wiped her mouth, frowning.
The older generations often valued natural births, as they are beneficial for the child’s health.
The doctor shook her head in denial, "Given your current physical condition, you don’t have the strength to endure childbirth, and there could also be potential risks to the mother."
Jiang Yulian’s frail, almost skeletal appearance was noticed by everyone.
Since the baby could be delivered by cesarean section, Lu Chen didn’t waste words, "Prepare for it, and let’s deliver at the end of the month."
"Okay," the doctor nodded in agreement and then left.
After Jiang Yulian finished eating, Miss Su tidied up and advised her to rest well before she and Lu Chen left the villa.
On the way home, she held the man’s large hand and asked, "Are you going to lead military training tomorrow?"
"Yes,"
"Can I join?" Miss Su asked with a giggling smile.
Lu Chen looked down at her, a hint of softness in his eyes, "You have already qualified."
Having learned most of her skills from Lu Chen along the way, she playfully clung to his arm, "I’ll go and observe, and let Li Qian and the others train as well."
"Okay," Lu Chen nodded in agreement.
After returning to the villa, Su Mo notified everyone that they would go for training tomorrow. As she passed by Zhao Changsheng’s room, there was no sound inside. She sighed in her heart, didn’t knock, and went back to her room.
Early the next morning, Su Mo woke up as soon as it was light outside. Glancing at the large hand around her waist, she looked up and kissed the man on his chin. It was rare, the first time she woke to find him there.
As she moved slightly, Lu Chen woke up. "Awake?"
"Sleeping beauty needs a prince to wake him up," Su Mo said out of the blue, even playfully scratching his chin.
Lu Chen helplessly said, "I see someone’s gotten brave."
He leaned down to kiss her lips, but Su Mo quickly covered her mouth. "Haven’t brushed my teeth."
The man pried her hands away and pinned them to the bed, then leaned down and kissed her, his kisses trailing from her lips to her collarbone.
Embracing his head, Su Mo ventured, "Do you have some kind of hidden illness?"
Otherwise, why was it always this routine.
Lu Chen’s expression darkened. He bit her collarbone hard, somewhat through gritted teeth. "Let me show you whether I have a hidden illness or not."
He then covered their heads with the blanket...
When they got out of bed, Su Mo’s face was nearly red enough to bleed. She washed her hands in the bathroom over and over, the burning heat in her palms seeming to sear into her heart.
After changing into light clothes and coming out of the bathroom, Lu Chen was already fully dressed, still in his strikingly handsome military uniform. However, his handsome face now bore a clearly relaxed and pleased expression.
Su Mo stifled a groan. "I’m ready," she said.
The man walked over, adjusted the two small cherries tied at the back of her head, and then took her hand to go downstairs.
Early in the morning, everyone noticed that Lu Chen’s expression was unusually gentle today, his lips even carrying a faint smile.
Jianxiong sipping his hot porridge couldn’t help but ask, "Boss, what’s got you so happy?"
Su Mo secretly twisted Lu Chen’s waist quite hard, and only then did he frown and revert to his usual expression. "Eat," he said.
This sudden change scared Jianxiong, who lowered his head and wondered to himself.
Looking around the table, even Ling Ye, who had recently recovered from a serious illness, had come down. Su Mo glanced around and noticed Zhao Changsheng wasn’t there. She couldn’t help but ask, "Is Zhao Changsheng still in her room?"
"Probably," Jianxiong bit into a bun. "I haven’t seen her since I got up, she hasn’t come out all day."
Li Qian then said, using his spiritual power, "She’s still sleeping."
Su Mo sighed and said to Su Niang, "When we leave, can you make something for her to eat?"
Su Niang nodded in agreement. That girl was really a worry.
The group finished breakfast and then left.
The place they were heading to was a training area belonging to Jiang Residence, marked off by Second Ring. It was divided into two parts: one side housed the surviving soldiers of Jiang Residence, and the other included some recruited superpower users who lacked extraordinary capabilities but excelled in the field of superpowers.
In the vast training ground, enclosed simply with wire mesh, soldiers practicing hand-to-hand combat could be seen everywhere.
Upon arrival, Hu Ding came out to welcome Lu Chen, a huge white dog following at his feet.
From afar, Su Mo saw it wagging its tail. "Why is there a dog here too!"
Lu Chen appeared quite familiar with the situation. As soon as Hu Ding released the leash, the white dog’s tail whirled like a propeller, happily sprinting towards him: "Woof woof!"
Just as it was about to jump on him, Lu Chen’s gaze hardened and he sternly commanded, "Stop."
Su Mo was amazed; the dog paused as if someone had pressed the pause button, stopping just a few steps away from him.
"Mrs. Jiang is pregnant, so Da Bai was brought here to be taken care of," Hu Ding said with a smile as he walked up.
"Da Bai?" Su Mo looked at Lu Chen. That’s quite a casual name.
The man explained, "Gatekeeper dog."
