The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 170 - 167: Cast Iron

Chapter 170: Chapter 167: Cast Iron

"You mean tearing space to switch positions?" Su Mo was surprised, "Then Lu Chen..."

She knew that Lu Chen’s dual ability had also reached level 4. Could it be that he had developed the same new superpower?

Li Qian was somewhat equivocal, "It’s possible."

Su Mo clicked her tongue twice. People really shouldn’t be compared.

She suddenly stopped in front of a shabbily decorated weapon shop with a huge axe hanging above the entrance that read ’Iron Forge’. Inside, various types of cold weapons were on display, and Su Mo’s interest was immediately piqued. She tossed the medicine into Li Qian’s arms, "You take the medicine back to Ling Ye, I’m going to have a look here."

Seeing her eyes gleaming, Li Qian said gently, "Then, I’ll come back to pick you up later."

Su Mo nodded and went in without looking back.

By the giant furnace inside, a middle-aged man with his torso bare was forging iron.

Some oddly-shaped animal hides lay nearby.

"Feel free to look around," the middle-aged man said as he threw a freshly forged sword into the water, causing a sizzling sound.

Su Mo’s attention was drawn to a huge turtle shell. She pointed to the shell with a pure black surface and sharp edges and asked, "Was this taken from a mutated turtle?"

"Level 3 mutated turtle, pulled out from the sea, the shell is so hard it’s impervious to swords and guns, and it can withstand superpowers several levels higher without a problem."

Su Mo raised an eyebrow, "Can it be made into a weapon?"

The middle-aged man turned around, shook his head and said, "That thing is suited for making armor. If you want a weapon, I have pure carbon steel ones for you to choose from."

Su Mo took out her Tang Blade and handed it to him, "I don’t want pure carbon steel. See if you can do something to sharpen this blade a bit more? Price is negotiable."

The Tang Blade had been with her for a long time, having killed countless zombies, and its edge was no longer very sharp.

The man examined the blade for a while and said, "To replace it, you would need a whole new piece, with better material..."

Su Mo’s gaze had already settled on a piece of black ore wrapped in a tattered cloth on the table: "How about using that?"

The middle-aged man followed her gaze, and his heart skipped a beat. He immediately wrapped it up again and said, "That’s my family heirloom."

Seeing his nervous reaction, Su Mo thought it must be something valuable. Just the glimpse she caught of it made her feel this was no ordinary object: "One hundred Level 2 Crystal Stones plus one Level 3."

The man was unmoved by her offer: "I haven’t sold it even to those who offered more."

Su Mo raised an eyebrow and directly doubled her offer: "One thousand Level 2 plus one Level 3 Wood Element Crystal Stone."

"One thousand?!" The middle-aged man’s pupils dilated. Even the local tyrant had offered only five hundred.

Her offer was too tempting, and the man hesitated; a thousand Level 2 Crystal Stones was not a small amount.

Su Mo opened her palm to reveal a verdant crystal stone: "Level 3 Wood Element Crystal Stone."

"Wood Element..." The man looked from the lush green crystal stone back to Su Mo before finally making up his mind: "Deal."

Su Mo smiled contentedly. She placed a bag of crystal stones on the table, "This is half the deposit. I’ll come to pick up the item in three days."

"Alright," the man responded as he opened the small bag, briefly dazzled by the stones inside.

After leaving, Su Mo went to a shop selling expensive clothing. The items here were unlike the clothes from the street stalls, being made from mutated animal hides. The purely decorative ones were quite cheap, but those with bulletproof and scratch-resistant properties were pricey.

She meticulously picked out clothes, and finally based on the approximate sizes of everyone in her mind, she bought two winter outfits for each person, spending a hundred Level 2 Crystal Stones in the process.

The sales clerks beamed with joy.

Su Mo, laden with large and small packages and dressed in new clothes, sat in the clothing shop drinking tea, waiting for Li Qian to come and pick her up.

During this time, the shop also saw many fashionably dressed women out for a stroll.

When Lu Chen entered in full military uniform, he instantly drew the attention of all the women in the shop.

He was tall and slender, with explosive muscles under his military green uniform; his broad shoulders and narrow waist were the golden ratio. His face, cold and aloof as a flower on a high cliff, was impossible to look away from.

The women whispered amongst themselves, "My God! Who is this?"

"See the bars on his shoulders? He’s an Admiral!"

"He’s too handsome! My old man is just a lump of s compared to him."

"He’s looking over here!"

Some of the women couldn’t help but blush. Lu Chen scanned the interior of the store and, upon spotting the girl in a fluffy rabbit fur coat eating pastries on the small sofa, his gaze instantly softened.

He approached her, "I’m here to pick you up."

Su Mo finished the last bite of her sesame ball and turned her head, instantly dazzled by the man’s attire, "You’re done with work already?"

The military uniform’s austerity play was exactly to her liking!

Lu Chen reached out to wipe the sesame seeds from the corner of her lips. Picking up the bags by her feet with one hand and taking her hand with the other, he asked, "Did you enjoy yourself today?"

Su Mo nodded happily, "I bought clothes for you and Jianxiong too. It’s getting cold; we need to wear more."

"All right."

With the clerk’s respectful farewell, the tall man walked away with the girl.

"Such a good man, how come I never met one?"

"Fate, oh fate, I wish to be taken care of by such a good man too."

Su Mo let out a satisfied burp, and their outfits certainly caught everyone’s attention.

Zhao Xiwen was shopping for groceries with Ai Yang’s company when she caught sight of Su Mo, leaving her eyes enviously red.

The man she admired was also capable of such tenderness.

"Zhao Xiwen?" Ai Yang nudged her.

Snapping back to reality, she handed over her Identity Card in exchange for several pounds of rice, "Let’s go."

After getting in the car and returning to the villa, Su Mo looked at Li Qian sitting in the living room and asked, "Did Ling Ye’s fever go down?"

Li Qian nodded, "Almost."

As Lu Chen placed the items on the table, the others gathered around. Jianxiong picked up a thick fur coat and tried it on, "Sister, why did you buy so many clothes?"

Seeing what he held in his hands, Su Mo immediately said, "Those two are for you."

A look of joy spread across Jianxiong’s square face. He promptly took off his jacket and put on the pure black fur coat; it fit perfectly on his sturdy frame, as Su Mo had estimated quite well.

He looked somewhat like the boss of the bad guys, which made Su Mo laugh uncontrollably.

For Zhao Changsheng, she had chosen a winter leather jacket and a pair of padded denim long pants, similar to biker gear, lined with thick fleece and very convenient for movement.

After Zhao Changsheng had changed, Su Mo felt extremely pleased with her choice; he had a well-defined body that was several sizes larger than hers.

Receiving her admiring gaze, Zhao Changsheng’s eyes shimmered with happiness.

Li Qian’s clothes were much easier to choose; he and Lu Chen were both clothes hangers, and their clothes were just picked out without much thought.

In the apocalypse, there was no need for fancy looks, comfort and practicality were paramount.

After everyone put away their stuff and the excitement had faded, Lu Chen finally spoke up, "There’s a meeting tonight, I have something to say."

Su Mo’s heart skipped a beat as she looked up at him, suddenly feeling reassured.
