The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 168 - 165: Not Biological

Chapter 168: Chapter 165: Not Biological

"It smells so good!" Jianxiong inhaled deeply and swallowed his saliva.

"Go get some rice and eat," Su Mo chuckled as she watched him eagerly, sitting down next to Lu Chen. She took a sip of the fish soup and immediately felt a warm flow in her lower abdomen, which was very comfortable.

After a few grown men drank the fish soup, their expressions slightly changed.

[Fetus Nourishing Soup success, duration 48 hours]

Lu Chen tilted his head to look at her, his tone indifferent and unemotional, "Did you take out the excess Fetus Nourishing Soup?"

Su Mo had just swallowed a mouthful of soup when she suddenly choked, covering her mouth as she coughed incessantly.

Lu Chen’s large hand helplessly patted her back to help her catch her breath, "Drink slowly."

Su Mo finally caught her breath and glared at him, "It’s all your fault."

"It does seem a bit weird for men to drink Fetus Nourishing Soup," Jianxiong smacked his lips and then finished it up.

Li Qian’s face also wore a rare embarrassment. He took a sip of the fish soup and, finding it too good to resist, ended up drinking it all.

Su Mo, biting her chopsticks, realized it must indeed be awkward for them.

The tail of a braised Crucian Carp remained untouched on the table until Lu Chen leisurely picked it up and placed it in her bowl.

Su Mo received his adoring gaze and silently bowed her head to nibble on the tail.

Everyone depleted the fish entirely except for Su Niang but all received the prompt for the braised Crucian Carp.

[Strength Points +6 No Time Limit]

Everyone was once again shocked as everyone’s strength permanently went up a notch.

Jianxiong benefitted the most, as it was like adding flowers to his brocade of superpowers.

This meal nearly burst everyone’s stomachs.

Su Mo even went outside to test her own strength; their strength was now close to that of a Level 1 superpower user, and she could easily lift Su Niang with one hand.

After cleaning up the dishes, Su Niang packed the fish soup and sent it to the Jiang Residence, while Su Mo planned to check on the two people tied up upstairs.

The moment she went upstairs, the others in the living room followed her into the room.

The room, dark at first, suddenly lit up with a blinding light, waking the drowsy Mrs. Su, who immediately started struggling as she faced Su Mo’s smiling yet chilling face.

Su Mo, looking at the stinky sock in her mouth, glanced at Jianxiong’s bare foot and couldn’t help but laugh.

She stepped forward, removed the sock, and immediately Mrs. Su yelled, "Help! Murder!"

Su Mo, cleaning her ears, pulled up a chair in front of Mrs. Su and sat down. Without turning her head, she asked the people standing behind her, "Don’t I resemble her at all?"

First, Lu Chen decisively shook his head, followed by Zhao Changsheng’s scornful voice, "That woman couldn’t possibly give birth to the lovely Baby Mo."

They all agreed that Su Mo didn’t resemble Mrs. Su at all.

"Then things are getting interesting. Mom, am I really your biological child?" Su Mo leaned back in her chair, recalling all the past neglect and disdain. If she wasn’t her biological child, that could explain it, right?

Mrs. Su’s cold sweat almost dripped down as she stammeringly avoided eye contact, "What are you talking about! You are indeed the child I bore and raised after a hard pregnancy of ten months."

From Su Mo’s casual remark in the Outer Ring, she had seen her mother’s evasive expression. She had to admit, her mother was really bad at lying.

Su Mo moved closer, kicked the stool over, letting her entire body fall backward, "I want the truth, or else, I’ll have someone send my brother out of the base."

"You loss-making merchandise! You wouldn’t dare!" Su Huaguang, who was tied up nearby, immediately roared in anger.

Whenever it involved her son, Su Huaguang and his wife were like people who had lost their reason.

"I’ll have someone throw them out," Lu Chen said, his gaze darkening as he strode toward the door.

"No, no, no! I’ll talk! I’ll talk!" Mrs. Su shouted out loud, repeatedly stopping him.

Lu Chen stopped, turning around.

Jianxiong pulled up a chair, and after Mrs. Su coughed a few times, she said bitterly:

"You really aren’t our biological child; some heartless person left you at our doorstep, and I was the one who picked you up. Su Mo, whether you acknowledge it or not, I was the one who raised you from your first toilet visit. You can’t treat us like this!"

There was a moment of silence in the room. After Mrs. Su had spoken her piece, she suddenly regretted it, lowering her head as tears flowed down.

Su Mo looked at her for a while, her expression unchanged, then turned and left.

She returned to her bedroom and sat on the edge of the bed, uncertain whether she felt terrible or relieved, like a tangled ball of yarn, utterly frustrating.

No one dared to disturb her at this moment. Lu Chen came into the room, shut the door, and sat beside her, lifting her onto his lap.

He quietly held her, and neither of them spoke.

Su Mo sat on him for a long time before burying her face in his chest, her voice muffled, "I always used to say I was picked up."

But she had never doubted it.

Yet it was still hard when the person involved said it out loud.

"You have me," Lu Chen said, wrapping his arms around her and gently patting her back, a phrase he had often said recently.

Every time he said it, it always cheered her up. Su Mo looked up from his embrace, "Actually, I don’t have much to be sad about. They weren’t good to me in the past."

"What do you want to do about it?"

He would help her accomplish anything Su Mo wished to do.

"Let them leave today," Su Mo sighed, coming out of his embrace.

The corridor was full of people; seeing the worried expressions on her friends’ faces, Su Mo felt warm inside, "What are you all doing standing around here? Go to bed early."

Seeing her as usual, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

Noticing Su Mo’s return, Mrs. Su and Su Huaguang immediately became alert.

Mrs. Su moved her chair and tried to retreat, "What are you trying to do?"

"I’m giving you a lift," Su Mo said as she walked over and untied her mother’s ropes, then proceeded to untie Su Huaguang’s, looking at his hand, missing a small finger due to frostbite, "This hand is probably ruined; just stay quietly in the Outer Ring from now on."

"You want to drive us away!" Mrs. Su stood up, loosened her painful hand, her voice sharp, she didn’t suffer so much just to be sent back, "Don’t you want to know who your mother is?"

Su Mo decisively shook her head, "I’m not interested."

She didn’t care about someone who could abandon her for twenty years.

"You!" Mrs. Su had no way to deal with her strong-willed daughter; she sat down on the floor and started crying, complaining about future hardships like going hungry.

Su Mo found the noise painful to her ears, but considering the woman had raised her for some time, she decided, "Every three days, I’ll have someone send over some food."

Not letting her starve was her biggest concession.

Mrs. Su immediately objected, standing up and helping Su Huaguang with his frozen hand, clamoring, "Give me a year’s supply at once, consider it medicine money for your dad!"
