Chapter 163: Chapter 160: Nanfang Village

Because after that voice appeared, her stomach suddenly became warm, and she finished a whole bowl of fish soup.

"For the sake of the child, Aunt Jiang will pretend she didn’t hear," Su Mo patted her hand and smiled.

Jiang Yulian met her somewhat meaningful gaze, nodded immediately, and spoke even lower, "Don’t worry, I have it in mind."

Lu Chen looked at her slightly flushed face and asked, "Have all the needles stopped?"

"They’ve all stopped," Jiang Yulian nodded, with no effect from the medicine, she felt quite energetic that day, but...

She stretched out a hand, and Lu Chen took it and sat down beside Su Mo, Jiang Yulian looked at him with some concern, "Auntie only hopes that you live well in the future."

Lu Chen didn’t respond but simply held her hand soothingly.

After coming out of the villa, Su Mo looked up and asked, "Has the time for going to Southern Island been set?"

Lu Chen shook his head and spoke softly, "Soon."

After returning to the villa, the two of them washed up and fell asleep in each other’s arms.

Early the next morning, Su Mo, as usual, made a soup for Jiang Yulian and instructed Su Niang to send it over later; after having breakfast, the group hurried to the Outer Ring.

They were going out to meet up with the soldiers who would guide them.

The exit for missions and the entrance to the base faced the same direction but was another section of the gate developed separately; there were many vehicles lined up that were about to head out for missions.

As soon as Su Mo and the others got out of the car, they saw Rong Bai, who was preparing to lead the outing, and she became curious.

Rong Bai was also talking with the soldiers in front, and upon turning his head, he spotted them, pocketed the map, and walked over.

"Are you guys heading out on a mission?" he greeted Lu Chen as he approached.

"Where are you going?" Lu Chen glanced at the fully armed soldiers behind him and asked coldly.

"Yan City."

"Back to Yan City?" Su Mo felt a sudden jolt, "Weren’t you just there?"

Rong Bai’s face showed some helplessness, "Going to retrieve the creature’s body we left there, only we know about it, and the reward Commander Lu offered is pretty good, enough for my soldiers to rest for a while."

"Did you dig out the crystal stone?" Lu Chen asked with a hint of coldness.

Rong Bai nodded, "That crystal stone seemed a bit strange, Commander Lu asked me to bring back the body as well."

That night, after being arranged by Commander Lu’s people to leave, he had also turned in the peculiar crystal stone he had dug up, not thinking that he would still need to retrieve the body.

"Be careful," Lu Chen didn’t say much, merely reminded him lightly.

Rong Bai nodded, patted him on the shoulder, and turned to leave.

Not far away, a soldier approached and asked, "Are you the superpower user going to Nanfang Village?"

Su Mo nodded.

"Follow me, I’m the guide for today’s trip to Nanfang Village," the soldier glanced inadvertently at Lu Chen behind her, seemed stunned for a moment, then his eyes became eager yet uncertain before he looked away.

Mo Yan and the others had already been waiting nearby in their vehicle; seeing Su Mo approaching, his expression softened, and he gently said, "You’re here."

Su Mo silently diverted her gaze, choosing to ignore him. The soldier gathered two teams, holding an electronic board that briefly introduced the village:

"Our mission today is to kill all the zombies in Nanfang Village. All proceeds need to be recorded in the system by me, after taking a commission, you can go to the hall to withdraw or use the card to spend the crystal stones."

After everyone agreed, the soldiers got into their own vehicle and led them out of the base, driving at the front.

The faint breeze outside still carried the stench of rotting corpses. Su Mo looked back at the high wall and couldn’t help but sigh quietly, "Just a wall apart, and it’s hell on one side, humanity on the other."

Jianxiong was especially excited today. As he drove, he hummed a tune and said, "Why do I find the days outside so nostalgic?"

Zhao Changsheng looked at him with disdain and replied, "You can choose not to go back."

"That won’t do," Jianxiong hummed and shook his head in refusal, as he wouldn’t consider living outside with good food and comfortable sleeping conditions.

Listening to their banter, Su Mo smiled and said, "Today, you all have a task."

Jianxiong glanced at the rear-view mirror inside the car and responded, "Just say the word, sister."

"Leave the fatal blow on the zombies to me; I need the kills," Su Mo said, having already spotted a small village not far away.

The few people in the car agreed, and the vehicle stopped before entering the village.

Everyone got out of the car, and Su Mo took out her Tang Blade.

On Mo Yan’s side, Zhao Xiweng also followed, taking a look at Lu Chen and suppressing her emotions.

After the two groups merged, the soldiers raised their guns and led everyone inside.

The intermittent growls in the village indicated that the zombies here were numerous.

Mo Yan’s team seemed to be adept at clearing out zombies; they took the lead, and a Gold Element superpower user even shouted loudly.

"Hey!"

The echo came through the empty village, and immediately, Level 2 zombies burst out from the houses and surrounded them.

"Let’s fight," Su Mo gripped her Tang Blade and charged forward. Before her blade could fall, a water arrow, formed from condensed water, brushed past her face and accurately shot into a zombie’s head.

Su Mo frowned and immediately turned around. Zhao Xiweng stood not far away, smiling at her, "I’ve reached Level 2."

She could not mistake the boasting tone in her voice and, uninterested in responding, found her next target and prepared to attack. However, the water arrows were always a step faster, shooting into the zombies’ heads before she could.

Su Mo’s expression darkened and her gaze turned icy as she confronted Zhao Xiweng. In a blink, she appeared in front of her, grabbed her collar, and whispered in her ear:

"Keep stealing my kills, and I’ll make you crawl back on your hands tonight."

Her tone made Zhao Xiweng’s heart jump. She pulled away and stepped back, looking towards Lu Chen with a slightly raised voice, "I was just kindly helping you share the load; why must you threaten me?"

"Does your team know that you’re a double agent?" Su Mo saw Mo Yan looking over and immediately hooked a cold smile.

"What are you talking about!" Zhao Xiweng exclaimed in shock and anger.

"Sister! Here they come!" Jianxiong called out from behind to Su Mo.

Turning around, Su Mo immediately laughed as Zhao Changsheng’s Thunder Whip bound several disabled zombies walking towards her. Jianxiong had several in his hands, and Li Qian had lured a small group behind him.

She had to admit, the Spiritual Power superpower was really useful.

They were all Level 2 zombies. Su Mo, no longer caring to look at Zhao Xiweng, ran swiftly to hack the zombies bound by Zhao Changsheng. The zombies in Jianxiong’s hands were thrown in front of Su Mo, and she crushed them with one stomp.

Lu Chen’s superpower was even more convenient. He barely moved his feet, but the Cold Ice barbs that burst out of the ground penetrated through the zombies’ bodies. Su Mo walked inside, chopping up these zombies as she went.

Behind her, Jianxiong smiled joyously as he picked up crystal stones.
