The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 160 - 157: Origins

Chapter 160: Chapter 157: Origins

Fang Lian looked into her son’s narrow eyes that were as dark and bottomless as ink, feeling uneasy. She wiped her mouth and stood up, smiling awkwardly, "Yes, I’m full. You all enjoy your meal."

With Lu Youwei’s permission, she quickly walked upstairs with small steps.

It was then that Su Mo noticed the man sitting elegantly next to the head of the table. He had a low presence, but once noticed, he was hard to ignore.

"What are you looking at?" Lu Chen approached her, his expression unpleasant.

Su Mo withdrew her gaze and looked at his untouched plate of beef, chuckling, "I want some more."

Lu Chen’s expression softened, and he began to cut the steak on the plate for her.

Fang Ya came out with a newly baked fish, and a nanny placed it on the table. She approached Su Mo somewhat nervously and asked softly, "Child, the crescent part of the fish is the tastiest. How about I get you a piece?"

Su Mo was about to nod when Lu Chen stood up, took the chopsticks, and distancingly said, "I’ll do it."

"Oh, okay," Fang Ya handed over the bowl, her eyes dimming as she returned to her seat at the head of the table.

Just as Lu Chen placed the fish tail in Su Mo’s bowl, Lu Youwei slammed the table and stood up, "I didn’t invite you here for you to upset your mother!"

Fang Ya quickly intervened, "Don’t be like this!"

Su Mo clearly felt the chill from Lu Chen; she grasped his hand and comforted, "Why don’t we go back?"

That way, she wouldn’t have to eat the fish tail either.

The man looked up, his aura oppressively directed at Lu Youwei.

This pressure on Lu Youwei would have confined him to bed for three days.

Lu Jin slightly frowned from the side, his superpower activating as he switched places with Lu Youwei to bear all the pressure. He pursed his lips and suggested, "Admiral, why not finish this meal peacefully first?"

The invisible confrontation between the two men caused all the food on the table to tremble.

"Brother Lu~ I made soup for you!" Lu Yuan approached with a bowl of soup, noting the delicate atmosphere she asked, "Brother Jin, what’s happening?"

Lu Jin didn’t even look at her, his dark eyes fixed on Lu Chen.

Su Mo tugged at Lu Chen’s hand, and the man withdrew his aura and sat back down.

Seeing the closeness between them, Lu Yuan gave Su Mo a dark glare and shyly placed the bowl of lamb soup in front of Lu Chen, "This is the lamb soup I stewed all afternoon; try it."

"I’ll try it," Su Mo smacked her lips and reached for the soup in front of Lu Chen, but Lu Yuan covered the bowl with her hand before she could touch it, angrily retorted, "This isn’t for you."

Fang Ya tried to mediate, "Didn’t you make an extra portion? Just get another."

"No!" Lu Yuan turned and shouted at her, panic visible in her eyes.

Regaining his composure, Lu Youwei immediately reprimanded her, "Where are your manners?"

Su Mo forcefully moved her hand away and brought the soup bowl to herself. Just as she lifted the lid, the smell hit her so severely that she quickly covered her nose and pushed the bowl away, "What’s added in this? It smells awful."

It wasn’t an exaggeration; it genuinely smelled as foul as a sewer.

Lu Chen also frowned upon smelling it, indeed foul.

Li Chuan sniffed the air filled with the scent of lamb, his smile loaded with meaning, "It smells quite nice."

Aside from Lu Chen and Su Mo, everyone else thought the meat smelled delicious.

"You! You not only refuse to eat but insult me too!" Enraged, Lu Yuan swung her hand towards Su Mo’s face.

Su Mo directly activated her superpower and appeared behind Lu Yuan, grabbing her by the neck and shoving a large spoonful of soup into her mouth, "Then you should eat more."

"I won’t eat... Uh, let me go!" Lu Yuan, holding the Thunder Whip, lashed out and overturned the table full of food, splattering everyone with soup and oil stains.

"Enough!" Lu Youwei’s voice thundered with fury, "Have the guests clean up and leave."

He glanced at Fang Ya and stood up to leave.

Only then did Su Mo let go, and Lu Yuan, leaning over the table, began frantically gagging herself to vomit. Failing to do so, she desperately called for help to Lu Jin, "Brother Lu, find a doctor, quick!"

Lu Jin calmly asked Lu Yuan, "What did you put in the lamb?"

"I..." Lu Yuan looked up at him in a pitiful state, her eyes full of panic.

"Speak."

Scared, Lu Yuan whipped her head to glance at Lu Chen’s expressionless face and cried, "Just... just a bit of stimulating substance."

Her original plan was for the effects of the medicine to take hold and then take the man away, but she hadn’t expected his companion to be so troublesome.

"I’m sorry," Lu Jin apologized with downcast eyes, and promptly dragged Lu Yuan away by the back of her clothing.

Su Mo raised an eyebrow, suddenly realizing why the lamb soup had a sewer drain smell. She had rejected it at lunch because it tasted awful, not knowing it was used in this way.

Li Chuan, having watched the drama unfold while fully sated, strode away with long steps.

Lu Chen took Su Mo’s hand and was about to leave when Fang Ya stopped them, "Change your clothes before you go."

Somehow, Su Mo saw a plea in the eyes of this noblewoman. She looked at Lu Chen and whispered softly, "Shall we change clothes before we go? It won’t take long."

Seeing that her clothing was indeed mostly dirty, Lu Chen nodded, "Okay."

Fang Ya led Su Mo upstairs to a luxurious dressing room filled with outfits for all seasons.

"See what you like and pick anything," Fang Ya said softly.

After looking around, Su Mo felt a bit awkward, "Are there no trousers?"

Fang Ya was taken aback, her expression also turning awkward. Sighing quietly, Su Mo randomly pulled out a white dress and a coat and went into a cubicle to change.

"Is there something you want to tell me?" Su Mo asked as she changed clothes inside.

Standing outside the door, Fang Ya moved her lips and whispered softly, "I can tell you’re a good kid. If Lu Chen is going to Southern Island, stop him."

Su Mo paused, immediately recalling Elder Jiang abruptly stopping the medicine, and then asked, "What’s there?"

Fang Ya’s expression was obscure, "Information that can change the ownership of Base B of the city. That place... it’s full of monsters, tell Lu Chen... not to go."

Su Mo finished changing and opened the door, telling Fang Ya, "I’ll accompany him and support any decision he makes."

She was about to leave when she was suddenly pulled back.

Fang Ya urgently said, "I can’t just watch him die, that place sent several groups by Lu Youwei, and all were lost without a trace."

Su Mo turned to look at her, suddenly puzzled, "Is Lu Chen Commander Lu’s son?"

Fang Ya choked, then lowered her head, her voice trembling, "No, he is the son of the former deceased head of Lu Family, my husband Lu Cang."

Su Mo was more baffled, wondering if this was some drama about two brothers fighting over a woman. She pulled Fang Ya to a small sofa to sit down, curiously asking, "How did Lu Cang die?"

Fang Ya would forever remember the day Lu Youwei came back, covered in wounds, telling her that drug traffickers had killed Lu Cang. When she arrived, it felt as though the sky had collapsed, the man riddled with bullet holes. Just one look, and she fainted.
