The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 130 - 127: Bai Ling

Chapter 130: Chapter 127: Bai Ling

She gently patted the ash caught in his silver hair and said, "I just accidentally saw a weirdo."

Walking by in his ash-colored, feathered attire, Rong Bai intended to comfort his good brother when he was shocked by this scene. Standing beside him, Li Chuan, with his unhealthily pale face, remarked in a somewhat stunned tone:

"I’ve never seen him bow his head in front of a woman before."

With a bewitching smile, Li Chuan added, "That’s his biggest weakness in his whole life."

Rong Bai gave him a sharp look and heightened his tone, "It’s only then that he seems human."

"Weirdo?" Lu Chen straightened up, his expression puzzled.

Just then, the girl in the white dress passed by them and even came over to greet them.

"Hello, I am Bai Ling."

With a cheerful smile, Su Mo replied, "Hello, Su Mo."

However, the girl didn’t seem to rest her gaze on her. As Bai Ling faced Lu Chen, her cheeks slowly reddened; he was indeed very handsome.

Lu Chen briefly glanced below Bai Ling’s neck, then returned his attention to Su Mo and said flatly, "She really is quite the oddity."

"Pfft, hahaha," Su Mo laughed uncontrollably, finding such a modern word especially cute coming from his mouth.

Seeing her happy, tenderness unavoidably surfaced in Lu Chen’s eyes. He rubbed her head and drew her back to the car.

Bai Ling, feeling humiliated, turned pale, and her dress swayed unstable as her body rocked.

"Admiral Lu has a bad temper, let’s go. I’ll take you to meet Admiral Rong," a soldier gently nudged her from behind.

"I understand," Bai Ling finally took her gaze off them. Upon seeing Rong Bai and Li Chuan, her cheeks flushed again.

Whatever she said to Rong Bai, she was placed inside a military vehicle.

The convoy reorganized, and apart from a few soldiers who had been pecked and isolated in a vehicle, there were no casualties; Rong Bai took the lead and drove off directly.

In the rear, civilian vehicles suffered greatly, most of their windows shattered. If they had been attacked by zombies, they’d likely face much misfortune.

The arrival of the mutant birds conveniently resolved the issue for Rong Bai.

The fleet effectively halved in size.

As the night grew darker, it was not suitable to continue traveling. Ultimately, the convoy stopped on a hillside a few miles from Yan City.

From here, one could clearly see the outskirts of Yan City, where zombies were still in a considerable number.

People began to disembark from the vehicles to set up tents on top, while those in ordinary vehicles set up farther away, clearly frightened.

The soldiers formed two large circles, ignited a fire with collected roots in the middle, surrounded by stones, cooking a large pot on top.

Rong Bai planned to give them a good meal tonight, for no one could say whether they’d be dead or alive on the road tomorrow.

The soldiers all knew his intentions, each with a tense and serious expression.

Upon disembarking, Su Mo immediately sensed their mood and said softly, "This feels more like a final meal before parting."

"After all, who could have anticipated that a meteorite would directly cut off the road?" Li Qian stepped out of the vehicle, adjusting his glasses and speaking gently.

Having stayed in the vehicle all day, Su Niang finally managed to bring Ling Ye down for some fresh air.

When Su Mo looked over, she noticed the boy was continuously hiding behind Su Niang, avoiding her.

"Momo~" Zhao Changsheng called out to Su Mo in a seductive voice.

Upon hearing his voice, Lu Chen’s face darkened, and he led Su Mo directly toward the group of seated soldiers.

Looking back at her, Su Mo said, "Tidy up, come down, and join us for a meal."

Rong Bai, upon seeing the two, waved them over and immediately had a soldier vacate spots next to him for them to sit down.

As Su Mo walked over, she glanced at the pot and saw it was still instant noodles.

"All you have left are instant noodles?" she asked, sitting next to Lu Chen.

"Sister-in-law, isn’t instant noodles a good thing now? Otherwise, we’d have only dry rations left," Rong Bai’s voice was robust, carrying the magnetism of a mature man.

"You distributed the supplies to the civilians?" Lu Chen looked up at him.

Rong Bai willingly responded, "Every time we rescue a group of people, I send some food their way."

That’s why their reserves of rice and flour were the first to be depleted, regretting it now was too late.

"Admiral Rong, I am willing to give you my supplies," Bai Ling, hidden in the crowd of soldiers, spoke up.

Su Mo looked over at her, realizing she had changed into normal clothes, which is why she hadn’t recognized her at first.

Bai Ling walked up to Rong Bai, a bag of rice magically appeared and was placed at her feet, her face blushing as she said:

"Let’s treat the brothers to a good meal tonight."

The soldiers behind her all showed joy, their eyes shining at the sight of the rice, it had been a long time since they had eaten rice.

Su Mo, leaning her head on her hand, shifted her gaze to Rong Bai’s face and caught the gleam in his eyes, knowing that he too was a schemer.

He stood up, his resolute face softened somewhat in difficulty: "This..."

"Go ahead, it’s okay!" Bai Ling blushed deeply, glanced at him, and ran back.

Rong Bai gave Bai Ling a smile, then called a soldier to cook the rice, and resettled down, saying, "She is a Dual Element Superpower User."

"Tricking people for rice comes first, huh?" Su Mo said with a smile.

"Sister-in-law, I’m not that kind of person," Rong Bai shook his head earnestly.

Su Mo, amused by his constant reference to her as sister-in-law, glanced at Lu Chen and then leaned forward, resting her hands on his knees, whispered to Rong Bai: "Lu Chen’s space is piled up like a mountain with rice and flour, why don’t you ask him?"

Rong Bai glanced at the man whose attention was all on Su Mo, then cleared his throat and said: "I, Rong Bai, never beg others."

Su Mo shook her head, "You don’t need to seduce him either; Lu Chen was planning on giving you the rice anyway."

Rong Bai looked startled and turned to Lu Chen, asking, "Is that so?"

At his nod, the man slowly nodded, "Find a truck tonight, and I’ll load a few bags for you."

"...Good brother!" He clapped Lu Chen’s shoulder hard, but Lu Chen did not flinch; instead, he steadied Su Mo to make sure she was seated comfortably.

The bag of rice that Bai Ling had brought was set aside, waiting for the instant noodles to be cooked before being added to the pot.

Su Mo did not miss her look filled with concern.

Realizing she was being watched, Bai Ling immediately returned a friendly smile.

Not far off, a man with a shrewish look came cursing back from a convoy of ordinary people.

"Fuck, that bitch Bai Ling took the rice I worked so hard to get and gave it away,"

The four people, sitting on the ground, were in uproar: "What? Let’s go, I have to see this."

"That’s not right..."

"What’s wrong with that? We’re superpower users too, not under their protection anymore."

"..."

The cooked instant noodles were quickly divided and eaten up. A soldier had just picked up the rice to find a Water Element Superpower User to wash it when four people from the ordinary people’s convoy stopped him.
