The Chef Rules the Last Days -
Chapter 125 - 122: The Grinding Elf
Chapter 125: Chapter 122: The Grinding Elf
"So now you remember you’re a woman?" Su Mo rolled her eyes and firmly said, "He’s a minor. You should be glad you’re not corrupting him, now hurry up and go to sleep."
Zhao Changsheng twisted her waist as she got down, reluctantly crawling into the tent.
Three tents were allocated perfectly.
When Su Mo crawled into the tent, she noticed that besides military-green bedding, there were also two sets of brand-new clothes placed inside, which made her silently think that Rong Bai’s thoughtfulness was really thorough.
However, the pants did not fit her well, so she asked Lu Chen for a basin of ice and her own pants and told him to wait outside the tent.
She heated some water with a small teapot and mixed it with the ice to clean herself up.
At that moment, she wasn’t aiming for cleanliness, just to be odorless was enough.
The sound of trickling water came from the tent, and Lu Chen stood rigidly outside, his Adam’s apple moving.
After Su Mo finished washing and came out, she poured the water out beside the highway and then boiled another small pot to pour into the basin in the tent, "Your turn to wash."
"Okay," Lu Chen glanced at her and then crawled into the tent.
Once everything was tidied up, both of them finally lay comfortably in the tent. The night was a bit cool, so she curled up beside Lu Chen, and they shared a blanket.
When she looked up at Lu Chen, she suddenly discovered that he was stiffly forcing a smile and looking at her.
How should she describe this feeling, creepy?
"What’s wrong with your mouth?" She moved closer, resting on his arm and curiously asked.
Lu Chen’s expression held a hint of confusion, "Didn’t you tell me to smile more?"
"..." Su Mo was speechless for a few seconds, and then she began giggling nonstop while lying in the crook of his arm.
"But it’s very stiff," she said fearlessly.
The man stared at her without anger, instead drawing closer with his low and magnetic voice laced with temptation, "Is that so?"
Su Mo stopped laughing, the magnified handsome face in front of her made her swallow and stammer softly, "I feel like you are flirting with me."
Her gaze moved downward, lingering on those thin lips, and she swallowed again.
Lu Chen’s eyes were deep and seeing her like this, he couldn’t control himself any longer and lowered his head to kiss her.
The sensation was different from before, carrying a touch of cherishing and tenderness. Su Mo couldn’t help but immerse herself in the kiss, her small hand wrapping around his neck.
Not sure how long it lasted, but when her lips had nearly turned numb, it was finally over.
She found herself sprawled on his chest, not knowing when she had pulled his neckline open to reveal his intricately defined collarbone.
Her man was truly too tempting, Su Mo thought again, wondering how there could be such a desirable man. She shifted her gaze away quietly, trying to calm her emotions.
"Let’s sleep," he suggested.
Lu Chen gently patted her back intermittently as if soothing a child, his deep blue eyes darkening.
He closed his eyes, forcefully suppressing the restlessness within, telling himself it wasn’t the time yet.
His chest was somewhat cold; Su Mo pulled the blanket up to cover them both securely, snuggled against his strong muscles, and contentedly closed her eyes.
The fire that Lu Chen had suppressed flared up again at her snuggle.
He covered his eyes with one hand and cursed softly, daring not to make any further movements.
In the middle of the night,
Su Mo was sleeping soundly when a loud cry erupted from the neighboring tent, along with Su Niang’s gentle consoling. Awakened, she asked softly, "Is it Ling Ye crying?"
She was about to get up to check when she was suddenly pulled back. Lu Chen held her against his chest and said in a faint voice, "Never mind it."
"..." Unable to refuse him, she obediently lay in his embrace, only falling asleep again once the sounds turned into soft whimpers.
Some people slept until dawn, while others, acting as human pillows, suffered from insomnia all night, barely managing to fall asleep at daybreak.
Just as day was breaking, soldiers came to the convoy shouting that it was time to set off.
When Su Mo woke up, she saw a hint of dark circles under Lu Chen’s eyes. She rubbed gently beneath them and asked, "Didn’t sleep well last night?"
Meeting her innocent, cute face, he pulled her slender waist closer and bit her lip with a sigh, "You’re truly a tormenting elf."
In her presence, he was like a beast about to pounce, all his self-control teetering on the brink of collapse.
"..."
That was a compliment, right? Feeling inexplicably shy, Su Mo bit his lip in return and said with relish, "Let’s get up."
That kid cried for most of the night; she still had to check on him.
The two of them lingered as they packed up and exited the tent. The two tents next to theirs had already been taken down. Jianxiong came over to help them pack up their tent, and three small tents were placed on top of the vehicle.
All around, the vehicles were packed up and ready to go.
The group got into the vehicles, and a soldier ran up to stand in front of them, saluted, and said loudly:
"Report!"
"Go ahead,"
Lu Chen sat in the vehicle, his voice cold.
"Admiral Rong has requested Admiral Lu to join him at the front. Here’s the walkie-talkie; please follow me in the vehicle."
"Got it," Lu Chen took the walkie-talkie and casually tossed it to Li Qian at the front.
Within the civilian convoy, several soldiers gestured to clear a path, allowing Jianxiong to drive the military vehicle and follow.
They traveled all the way to the front of the military forces, disappearing among a sea of green military vehicles. Ahead were Rong Bai’s and Li Chuan’s vehicles, with both of them waving from their windows at theirs.
To avoid drawing attention, Lu Chen still offered water and bread for breakfast that morning.
Ling Ye remained silent on Su Niang’s lap. Su Mo felt somewhat depressed looking at him like this and sighed, "Leaf, do you know why your mom wouldn’t let you leave the compound?"
Ling Ye ignored her, nibbling on his bread with a gloomy expression on his little face.
Su Mo pursed her lips, then continued, "Then, do you know why your grandma came back to life after dying?"
The moment his grandma was mentioned, Ling Ye became agitated, glaring at Su Mo, "You killed grandma!"
His grandma’s head was chopped off by this seemingly kind-hearted Demon, and he had seen it all too clearly.
Lu Chen met his gaze, his face darkening as he said coldly, "Jianxiong, stop the car and throw him out."
"I agree!" Zhao Changsheng raised her hand in favor, fed up with the kid’s nightmares from the night in the tent.
Su Niang hugged Ling Ye tighter, her body trembling with distress, "This... this isn’t nice, is it?"
Su Mo leaned on Lu Chen’s shoulder and said lazily, "It’s not nice, indeed. Be careful his mom might crawl out from the ground."
She admitted that she really didn’t know how to comfort a child, every word seeming to jab into the boy.
Li Qian adjusted his glasses, turned to look at Ling Ye with a gentle voice, "How about we throw him into a pile of zombies then? He’ll understand what his grandma has become."
"Li Qian, why do you always use your gentlemanly face to say such utterly heartless things?" Su Mo glanced at him, but his suggestion did prompt an idea in her; she considered a moment about the boy. She couldn’t pass off the burden just yet, but one or two zombies might just be manageable.
Li Qian smiled and turned his head back again.
