The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 121 - 118: Rong Bai

Chapter 121: Chapter 118: Rong Bai

It wasn’t until her bullets ran out that she stopped firing. The monster stepped onto the bridge and, as she’d expected, the base of the bridge quickly fractured and collapsed. It managed only two steps before plunging with the bridge into the water, causing a large splash of black water.

Just as she breathed a sigh of relief and was about to crawl back, she saw several hands grasping the riverbank, and a figure leaped up and landed on the ground.

"Fuck!"

This was the second time Su Mo had cursed. This thing’s speed and jumping ability were on a whole different level compared to those Level 2 Zombies, it had taken only a few seconds to catch up after being delayed.

Jianxiong sped out of the River City toll station and onto the highway.

"Someone is coming out from the northwest direction of River City."

Within a massive convoy on the highway, a voice came through the walkie-talkie in the lead military vehicle.

"Is it a survivor?"

A pair of healthy wheat-colored large hands took the walkie-talkie and asked in a serious voice.

"Yes, two vehicles, unable to discern the number of people."

"Rescue them."

"Yes."

The massive convoy slowly stopped on the road, with five military vehicles fanning out to guard the entrance ramp of River City.

Atop their vehicles were fully armed soldiers and a black, powerful machine gun.

Li Qian, his spiritual power spread out, naturally noticed the huge convoy on the road as well. His eyes under his glasses sparkled with delight, "There’s a huge convoy up ahead."

Upon hearing this, Jianxiong pressed down on the gas pedal recklessly, and the fierce wind painfully scraped Su Mo’s cheeks. She moved back inside the vehicle and reseated herself in the trunk.

Ahead of them stood soldiers in military uniforms, arrayed in a line. The people inside the two vehicles finally let out a sigh of relief at this sight.

The rescuers had arrived.

"Admiral Rong, target confirmed, unidentified species, should we attack?"

"Open fire."

Rong Bai opened the door and got out of his car, constantly vigilant of any movement at the ramp entrance.

The machine guns on the five military vehicles began slowly rotating in a circular formation, the gun barrels like many eyes. Upon receiving the order, a torrent of bullets like densely packed rain swept over Jianxiong and Li Chuan’s cars and fired at the monster covered in arms and legs.

The monster was forced to retreat continuously by the gunfire, the enormous impact forcing it to crawl on the ground. The dense barrage of bullets caused many of its limbs to be torn off, its roaring growing quieter until it disappeared completely.

Su Mo finally relaxed, leaning back onto the trunk, exhaling deeply. Lu Chen looked utterly exhausted, his body bending down to rest his head on her lap, his arms wrapped around her slender waist.

Su Mo gently stroked his hair and softly said, "Rest well."

The soldiers in front made a halting gesture, and Jianxiong’s car slowly came to a stop.

A soldier with a gun approached.

Jianxiong rolled down the window and took the initiative to greet them, "I’m a Special Soldier of Jiang Mansion, Jianxiong."

The soldier asked, "How many of you are there?"

Looking back, Jianxiong glanced at Su Niang holding Ling Ye and said, "7."

The soldier gestured towards the others and then spoke to them, "We’ve come from Z City, moving to Base B City. You can follow behind the military convoy."

"That’s great! We’re headed the same way! Thanks, brother," Jianxiong extended his hand to the soldier. After a friendly handshake, he drove off to merge into the giant convoy behind them.

Li Chuan’s car, once the mercenaries reported their background, someone quickly relayed the information to Rong Bai.

"A Special Soldier of Jiang Mansion, six civilians, and a whole vehicle of people from the Li Chuan of the C City military district,"

"Lu Family’s second son?" Rong Bai said in a deep voice, "That’s a free pass. Protect him, let them join our military forces."

"Yes."

"Admiral Rong, we have never encountered such a creature on our journey," a soldier who fought against the creature stepped forward to report.

"Take it away," Rong Bai pondered for a moment before saying.

"Yes."

The mighty convoy set sail once again.

The strange creature covered in hands and arms was netted and dragged behind a military vehicle.

Su Mo leaned back in her seat, feeling utterly exhausted inside. She glanced at Ling Ye, who had unknowingly fallen asleep in Su Niang’s arms, and sighed internally.

Such a big burden, and Ling Fang really did throw it away so resolutely.

Their vehicle merged into the flow of traffic, surrounded by cars filled with ordinary civilians. Among them were a few modified vehicles, their vehicle’s spiked front plates and angles particularly conspicuous.

Many cars drew closer, but after seeing the fierce and aggressive face of Jianxiong in the driver’s seat, they retreated quietly, thinking that this group was not to be trifled with.

Since they had to follow the convoy, Jianxiong dared not rest even for a moment, not until the sun set and the military vehicles at the forefront slowly came to a stop.

They were to camp and rest on the highway tonight.

Having not slept well the previous night, both Su Mo and Lu Chen slept through until evening. Jianxiong had been driving all day, his legs already sore from the ride, and he finally took a long breath of relief when they stopped for a rest.

Li Qian also didn’t need to constantly spread his spiritual power to scan for danger, feeling significantly more relaxed as well.

"Ah, tired the hell out of me."

With that exclamation from Jianxiong, Su Mo opened her eyes. She bowed her head and saw that Lu Chen was still laying on her legs. She gently brushed his fringe to one side and tried to move her toes, the tingling sensation making her shiver.

The slight movement in her legs instantly woke Lu Chen, who opened his eyes and propped himself up on the seat.

"Did I wake you?" Su Mo offered him a smile.

The vehicle was pitch-dark inside, clearly indicating it was night. He had actually stayed asleep on her legs for so long, Lu Chen looked at her with a tone full of concern, "Why didn’t you wake me up?"

"Ah, I also just woke up not long ago," Su Mo moved her feet, causing her brows to furrow from the numbing sensation.

"Are they sore?" he asked, sliding his arms under hers to pick her up a bit, then took her legs and placed them on his lap.

The moderate pressure on her legs took her by surprise; he was massaging her thighs.

Jianxiong turned on the vehicle’s small light, and the scene he saw made his worldviews shatter yet again.

Hmm... the always stoic and ruthless Commander Lu not only could hold his sister and cry but also massage her legs.

"Boss... Big brother," he hesitantly called out.

"Hmm?" The man didn’t lift his head, continuing to focus on the kneading motion.

"We’re going to sleep here tonight."

"Hmm."

"..." Jianxiong rubbed his belly and took another glance at him, then took a deep breath and said, "I’m hungry, sister."

"I’m hungry too, Momo," Zhao Changsheng leaned over the seat, her fox-like eyes eagerly gazing at the slender little legs. She really wanted to give them a rub too.

Why mention being hungry while looking at her legs... Su Mo rolled her eyes; having not eaten all day, she too felt the hunger.
