The Chef Rules the Last Days
Chapter 120 - 117: Breaking Through the Wall

Chapter 120: Chapter 117: Breaking Through the Wall

The woman with the center-parted hair tried to escape through the window but was bitten in the head by a massive skull, splattering blood everywhere.

Su Mo, lying on the small window of the trunk, saw everything, although the small car temporarily held back the monster. Their vehicle couldn’t move forward at all when it reached the location of Building 9.

From the front, back, and top of the vehicle, Level 2 zombies swarmed, threatening to tear apart and devour the entire military truck to fill their endlessly emptiness.

Lu Chen released Su Mo’s hand, his eyes fixed on what lay ahead, "I’m going to clear the obstacles up front."

"We’ll go together," Su Mo said firmly, and then turned to Zhao Changsheng, "Changsheng, the roof is yours, protect them."

"Be careful, Momo," Zhao Changsheng nodded, his hands flickering with electric light.

Lu Chen took out Jasmine Tea, took a sip, and then handed it to Su Mo, who took a big gulp.

"Ready?" He wiped the water from the corner of her mouth, his body exuding a frosty mist.

"Yeah, let’s go," Su Mo opened the trunk; the rear of the vehicle was dragging several zombies. She grabbed the Tang Blade and hacked at the hands clinging to the tires.

The two, one on each side, Lu Chen covered the zombie hanging on the rear of the vehicle with one hand and his fingertips spread frost instantly, turning the zombie into an ice sculpture emitting cold air. He leaned on the vehicle and jumped down, kicking the ice-sculpted zombie.

In an instant, the frozen flesh and blood shattered into pieces.

On her side, Su Mo used all her strength to hack and kick, dislodging the hands gripping the vehicle.

The two jumped off the vehicle, clearing the zombies on each side. After Lu Chen finished with one side, he circled to the back to help Su Mo.

Behind them, Li Chuan and Sheng Yuan’s situation was no more optimistic. Li Chuan handed the steering wheel to the mercenary sitting beside him, his hands gathering fireballs, and he started clearing zombies as soon as he opened the door.

Zhao Changsheng had Jianxiong open the sunroof, and immediately a zombie poked half its body inside, clawing aggressively towards Ling Ye. Su Niang hugged Ling Ye, retreating continuously towards the car window.

Zhao Changsheng kicked the head out the sunroof, leaned out fully, his Thunder Whip lashing out and knocking the zombies crawling on the roof off the vehicle and to the ground.

Once she fully stepped out, the five-meter long Thunder Whip became immediately agile.

After clearing the side zombies, Su Mo ran to the front of the car, where it was packed with zombies, making it troublesome to clean up.

She frowned. Lu Chen joined her, his hand covering the mutilated bodies as frost quickly spread over them, emitting a sizzling cold air.

At that moment, Jianxiong got out of the car, his Bone Spur protruding, and with one punch, he shattered those bodies.

Not far behind, the monster climbed up from the small car’s roof and rushed towards them again, its belly smeared with fresh blood and vaguely visible limbs and arms hanging from its sharp fangs.

Originally at the back, Sheng Yuan, no longer clearing zombies, commanded his team to hit the gas and sprint to the front.

Li Chuan spread his hands and used all his superpower to create a two-meter-high fire wall, moving it towards the monster; his almond eyes seemed to spit sparks.

The monster ignored the fire wall’s surging flames, forcefully passing through it with flames burning on its body and emitting a chilling howl as it continued its charge.

Lu Chen knelt on one knee, his hand on the ground; he exhausted his superpower, spreading ice quickly along the ground toward the monster.

His silver hair seemed to have whitened more; his eyebrows even frosted, his steely face utterly grim.

Su Mo followed the direction of the superpower towards the monster, and the tactic was indeed effective. The ground was slippery with ice, causing it to slip and fall too fast.

She quickly went over to help the somewhat enervated Lu Chen up, and supported him back to the car.

Jianxiong slammed the accelerator to the floor and picked up speed again.

It was just a short distance to Building Twelve, yet they traveled it in a frightfully tense manner.

Zhao Changsheng continuously swept the obstacles ahead while standing on the roof of the vehicle.

Su Mo quickly gave Lu Chen a sip of Jasmine Tea after sitting back in the trunk, tenderly supporting him to lean against the seat.

Driving the car, Jianxiong finally reached behind Building Twelve, where, just as Ling Ye had mentioned, there was a back door, but it was blocked by a newly built brick wall and cluttered with various items.

"Damn it, where’s the road!" he slammed his palm on the steering wheel, his face filled with frustration.

"There is one!" Ling Ye got down from Su Niang, climbed to the front seat, and pointed at an old refrigerator next to the brick wall: "Over there."

Jianxiong turned his head dubiously, opened the car door, got out, and moved the refrigerator aside with brute force.

"A doghole?..."

There was an exit, but only large enough to accommodate a child.

"Roar!"

The monster’s roar was already faintly audible from behind; it seemed to have gotten up and was approaching them again.

All three vehicles stopped at the back of this building.

"Damn it," Zhao Changsheng jumped directly from the roof and said to Jianxiong, "Aren’t you strong? Can you make this hole bigger?"

Lu Chen straightened up, an assault rifle appearing in his hand. He reopened the trunk and stepped out of the vehicle, his voice icy yet weary, "Move aside."

Both complied and moved aside. He fired several shots directly at the wall, ’bang, bang, bang,’ sending chunks of wall flying. He then stopped shooting, threw the gun back into the vehicle, and announced, "Now we can go out."

Jianxiong understood his intention, a Bone Spur extending from the back of his hand, and he punched the brick wall. In an instant, most of the wall collapsed, and the sound of the monster behind them grew closer.

Everyone quickly got into the vehicles and drove out through the forcibly created exit.

They rushed onto the street, and the monster burst through the wall, following close behind.

Jianxiong, driving the military vehicle in front, encountered abandoned vehicles blocking the road; he had no choice but to ram through them.

The monster behind continued its relentless chase, skillfully leaping over cars or simply using its long arms to fling them aside, these obstacles hardly affecting its speed.

Sheng Yuan, who was at the very end, narrowly escaped being caught by the monster’s elongated arms several times; sticking together on one road was clearly not a good idea.

He ordered a turn at a cross junction in the district, and the vehicles disappeared from the monster’s sight. Seeing that it did not follow, they breathed a sigh of relief.

Now, it seemed they had to find another way to get to B city.

"Go to the bridge!" Su Mo said loudly.

The pursuing monster quickly closed the gap, forcing Jianxiong to repeatedly increase his speed, sparks flying from the tires scraping the ground.

The two vehicles sped one after the other across the bridge, Su Mo picked up the assault rifle that Lu Chen had left in the trunk, climbed up the sunroof, and stuck out half of her body to survey the terrain.

Ordinary bullets were useless against it; Su Mo wasn’t planning to waste any. She aimed at the surface of the little bridge, firing all bullets into the ground connecting to the opposite bank, creating dozens of holes.
