Chapter 116: Chapter 113: Snatching

Ling Fang hurled a water orb at the fire, but it was all in vain; she was just a Level 1 Water Element Superpower User.

Facing threats from both sides, she couldn’t hold out any longer and collapsed, "I’ll give you the oil."

Watching his mother being threatened like this, Ling Ye couldn’t bear it any longer and clung to Ling Fang’s leg, wailing loudly, "I hate you! Why do you hurt my mom!"

He stared straight at Su Mo, who averted her gaze, her voice growing even colder, "Leave now."

Lu Chen shielded her from that resentful gaze, and in the turn of his eye, his expression was icy as he gave Ling Ye a supervisory glance.

Caught in the middle, Ling Fang followed everyone onto the elevator, and Sheng Yuan, seeing this, wanted to follow but the elevator was only so big, so he had to wait for the next group to come down.

The elevator descended slowly, the elevator shaft stinking just as their floor did with odors seeping through the vents.

Li Qian sniffed the air and thoughtfully asked Ling Fang, "What do you usually feed your ’relatives’?"

Ling Fang’s heartbeat skipped, and she turned her head in surprise, replying, "We don’t feed them anything."

"Do zombies... not feel hunger?" Li Qian adjusted his glasses and asked again.

This question silenced Ling Fang; it seemed that whether it was zombies or mutated animals outside, they all had only one target—living flesh.

The elevator arrived smoothly at the first floor, and everyone walked out.

The sunlight outside was comforting, and the oil they needed was right across the way.

Su Mo took Lu Chen’s hand, a bad feeling welling up inside her. She looked up and whispered, "What if the zombies ate each other?"

This made everyone shiver, and Lu Chen looked down at her, his expression turning serious.

She wouldn’t ask such a thing without reason; the creature sprouting hands and feet was etched deep in her memory.

Ling Fang shook her head firmly while walking, denying, "Impossible, our relatives are separated in every building by iron nets. They would never consume each other."

"Sealing the stairs and leaving only the elevator for exit means those who fell down are mostly crippled," Zhao Changsheng followed up behind and commented.

Ling Fang’s steps halted for a moment, then sped up.

They reached Building 2 across the way; two people were guarding the exit. Before they could even shout, one was knocked out by Su Mo’s Flat Pot, and the other was taken down with a punch from Jianxiong.

"That Flat Pot of yours is pretty special," Li Chuan, not seeing her pot for the first time, could tell at a glance that it was not an ordinary pot.

The pot in Su Mo’s hand disappeared as she turned and smiled, "You could try it out. If it doesn’t knock you out, I’ll compensate."

Li Chuan scoffed, his voice laden with a teasing challenge, "I could."

She rolled her eyes and pulled Lu Chen into the elevator; the group ascended to the eighth floor. As soon as the doors opened, they were greeted by a neat line of armed men, a good eight of them, guarding the doors on both sides.

They hadn’t stepped out of the elevator when someone already approached.

"Ling Fang? What are you doing bringing these people here?" one of them, holding a gun, walked to the side of the door, puzzled.

In such a cramped elevator, if gunfire broke out, they’d be riddled with bullets. Jianxiong, standing behind Ling Fang, pressed his Bone Spur directly against Ling Ye’s throat.

"Mom... Mom," Ling Ye’s eyes were red as he gripped Ling Fang’s hand tightly.

Ling Fang glanced at the claw behind her son and shot Jianxiong a hate-filled glance before answering, "Xiao Lin asked me to fetch some oil for them."

She took her son and slowly moved out, with Jianxiong sticking close behind her as they walked out.

"Xiao Lin?" The man grew even more puzzled; their community didn’t have anyone by that name. He took another careful look at Ling Fang and noticing the fear in her eyes and her evasive gaze, he immediately sensed she was being threatened.

"I’ll go get it," he said, retreating step by step to avoid startling the enemy, while making subtle gestures with his hand behind his back.

A burst of bullets sped toward Jianxiong, forcing him to release Ling Ye and retreat back into the elevator.

Holding Ling Ye, Ling Fang stepped back quickly, saying, "It’s not that I won’t give it to you, it’s just that they don’t agree, and I really can’t do anything about it."

The eight burly men with guns advanced step by step toward the elevator entrance.

Su Mo’s smiling face darkened, "It looks like we’re going to have to take it by force."

"Everyone inside, come out one by one!" a threatening voice came from outside.

Lu Chen’s surrounding cold air grew even colder, "I’ll go first."

Su Mo nodded, those in the elevator got ready to sit tight, and the people outside did the same, with everyone’s finger on the trigger ready to kill at a moment’s notice.

Lu Chen stepped out, and gun barrels immediately surrounded him from both sides.

Seeing this, Su Mo followed, shielding him from the other side’s muzzles, and with a soft and gentle smile said, "Don’t get trigger-happy now. If we die, who will help you protect your homes?"

She pressed against Lu Chen’s back, gently squeezing his palm.

Her words, paired with her highly deceptive face, made those men hesitate for a moment.

And that moment was all Su Mo needed. She activated her superpower and instantly vanished from the spot. Lu Chen’s phoenix eyes narrowed, and he spread cold ice rapidly from under his feet, freezing the men’s feet in place, and the two of them fought in close quarters.

Su Mo was incredibly fast, the four men couldn’t even see her.

She leapt off the wall, a flat pot in hand, and brutally smashed it down onto the head of one of the men.

If they couldn’t kill, then they had to resort to such crude methods.

The man was immediately knocked out, and as someone targeted her, aiming at her legs to shoot, she disappeared again in the next second, and when she reappeared, she was a blur, mounted on one man’s neck, the flat pot crashing down hard.

In an instant, she had taken out two men, but what surprised her was that among the men assigned to her, there was actually a superpower user.

He was a burly man. Seeing that he couldn’t hit her, he pulled out a handful of seeds from his pocket and threw them at her. The vines, bristling with sharp spines, broke out of the seeds and rapidly sprouted, coiling towards Su Mo’s waist.

Unlike the vines she had encountered in Black City, this was a Level 2 superpower user; Su Mo didn’t dare underestimate the power of these vines. She leapt into the air, switching to a Tang Blade in mid-flight. She quickly twisted her body to dodge the vines and sliced down with her blade.

This thick green vine was far more formidable than those malnourished ones, differing by more than just a level of lethality.

As the two fought outside, the people inside the elevator immediately rushed out to help. Zhao Changsheng’s Thunder Whip came down, binding the rapidly surging vines together. Li Chuan stepped out and directly threw a fireball at them, turning them to ashes.

After a night of recovery, Li Qian, with his spiritual power, locked eyes with the Wood Element Superpower User and sent out his Skill, all of it surging towards him.
