Chapter 101: Chapter 99: Truly Frustrating
The girl’s fresh body fragrance made his tense nerves uncontrollable as he turned over and pulled her into his embrace.
Facing Lu Chen’s bloodshot eyes, Su Mo instantly realized what was happening, her hands pushing against the man’s chest as her little face turned beet red.
"I... I think I can probably sleep a little better now."
"It’s too late."
She twisted, trying to squeeze out of his embrace, but as soon as half of her body was free, he pulled her back and pressed his thin lips down.
She lifted her head from the overwhelming kiss and stuttered, "Pre... precautions!"
Lu Chen paused for a moment, then laughed. He kissed her intensely as if to punish her, before finally letting go.
"Sleep."
He suppressed the restlessness within him, scooping her up along with the sleeping bag into his arms, his large hand tightly clasping her waist.
"Mmm..."
That’s it? Su Mo stared at the ceiling for a while, feeling a little like she understood what being sorely disappointed meant.
When she woke up, it was still dimly light outside, and the person beside her was gone, some noises coming from the bathroom.
Lu Chen came out: "You’re awake?"
"Mmm," she nodded vaguely, feeling a bit sore in her waist, the noise of zombies downstairs faint and intermittent. She rubbed her waist and glanced at him, "You woke up early."
"Mmm," he walked over, a touch of softness in his eyes, and bent down to plant a kiss on her head.
Su Mo rubbed his cold, hard face morosely, then got out of bed to tidy up.
There were some biscuits and sausages on the table. After drinking a bottle of milk and eating breakfast, she packed up her things. As soon as she opened the door, two people stumbled in.
Zhao Changsheng staggered, barely keeping his balance, while Jianxiong fell flat on the ground.
Su Mo squatted beside them, speechless: "Have you two been staying at the door all night?"
"No," Zhao Changsheng said stubbornly, with dark circles under his eyes.
Su Mo rolled her eyes and pointed to the table inside the room: "Finish your breakfast, grab the tea, and take the Biluochun Tea I made yesterday."
She walked past them, seeing quite a few people already standing in the corridor.
Li Chuan leaned against the wall, extending a pale hand in greeting as he saw her and Lu Chen come out.
"Did you sleep well last night?" His almond eyes roved over them with an ambiguous gleam.
Lu Chen ignored him, his expression cold and impassive as he left.
Li Chuan shrugged indifferently, obviously used to it.
Su Mo and he walked downstairs side by side. At the car, Lu Chen touched the military vehicle and took the entire car into his space.
This action surprised everyone.
"How big is your space now?" Su Mo’s eyes widened slightly as she looked up and asked.
"He could fit a few more without a problem," the man replied indifferently, his level 3 Space superpower having expanded five times more than at level 1.
"Then Lu Chen, take my car too," Li Chuan called out from a distance, hands in his pockets, raising his voice.
The man didn’t even deign to look at him, just led the others away.
Li Chuan shrugged and followed at a leisurely pace.
"Li Chuan, our car can’t go on anymore," a mercenary reminded from behind.
Without turning back, Li Chuan said, "Then leave it here."
"..."
Sheng Yuan saw this and had no choice but to park the vehicle here and follow the others with his people.
"The air surrounded by the lake is indeed refreshing," Su Mo took a deep breath as she walked out of the hotel area and onto the small path.
Right beside the path was a small lake, with willow trees and greenery adorning its sides, and a uniform, antique-looking cluster of white buildings lay ahead as they walked under the trees.
Su Mo leaned on the railing and discovered that the lake water was pitch black, resembling a vast inkwell, which couldn’t be seen clearly at night.
"This water..." She was about to say something when Jianxiong behind her ran into trouble.
"The greenery in this town is actually quite something," Jianxiong remarked as he brushed off a willow leaf that had stuck to his face due to the wind, its sharp edge instantly cutting his skin with a hiss.
Su Mo turned around to see a cut on Jianxiong’s face from which blood was flowing. She immediately took out a bottle of Biluochun Tea from the System Bag and passed it to him.
"What happened?"
Before Jianxiong could speak, Jingjing screamed from behind, "Ah!"
A burly man standing next to Sheng Yuan, about as tall and muscular as Jianxiong, had a line of blood spurting from his neck, spraying a meter away, and a string of bloodied willow leaves danced in the wind.
"Be careful of the leaves," Jianxiong said fearfully as he clutched his neck, squeezing through and bending over to get out.
Lu Chen’s expression turned solemn instantly as he pulled Su Mo down and walked to the middle of the path.
Li Qian, protecting Su Niang, also made his way out.
Lu Chen used his superpower to cut off a string of leaves, bending down to pick them up. Su Mo came closer to examine them, noting that the edges of the leaves were deceptively ordinary at first glance but were incredibly sharp and sturdy.
"Could these leaves... have mutated because of the recent rainfall?" Su Mo could think of no other explanation.
"Uh-huh," agreed Lu Chen, his eyes thoughtful, as he suddenly used his power to cut down several willow branches and put them into the Space.
"Boss, why are you collecting these?" Jianxiong, after taking a sip of tea and still covering his face, asked.
"Jianxiong, just shut up and talk less," Zhao Changsheng scolded as he came out and kicked him.
"Enough, stop fooling around," Su Mo said, looking in Sheng Yuan’s direction. His people were in disarray, trying to stop the bleeding of the man whose throat had been cut.
But the blood of the burly man was already winding down the paved road, and she knew her tea might save his life, but...
She wasn’t going to take that risk.
"Let’s continue looking for oil," she said as she turned and walked on.
No one suggested that Su Mo should try to save the man, and instead, they all seemed relieved by her decision.
Li Chuan followed behind with a leisurely pace and a smile.
Sheng Yuan looked at their departing figures, eventually laying down the head of the burly man with an apologetic look in his eyes, "I’m sorry."
The man was clutching at his neck, hissing breathlessly, struggling even to breathe. His eyes rolled upwards ceaselessly, and his face turned a purple-blue.
"Brother Sheng, are we just going to let him die here?" Jingjing’s tears streamed down in fright, her voice trembling.
"Then stay with him," Sheng Yuan glanced at her impatiently, almost regretting why he had bothered to save such a useless woman.
"No, Brother Sheng, I’ll go," Jingjing immediately clung to his robust frame, her eyes filled with panic.
As a tourist town, the streets were lined with many cars, but...
"Damn! How many cars have we tried now?" Jianxiong kicked a vehicle that had an open gas cap.
Li Qian realized the situation as well, seemingly unsurprised, "All the cars around here have been drained."
"We’re really out of luck," Zhao Changsheng said as he climbed onto a car, his foxy eyes filled with extreme displeasure.
Su Niang, wanting to help, also tried several cars, finding them all empty; she sighed, "What do we do now?"
"Are we just giving up like this?" Su Mo also lamented, the native residents certainly didn’t make it easy for them.
"No way," Li Qian, spreading his spiritual power like a wide net, soon broke into a gentle smile, a sharp look flashing behind his glasses, "Our savior has arrived."
